i completely agree. we should know something this afternoon at the latest. no way either party allows this to drag out into the weekend giving the recruiting implications

I'm surprised so many seem to be on board with hiring Coley. I get that he is supposedly a great recruiter but I'm concerned about his lack of experience calling plays. I'm having nightmare flashbacks of Patrick Nix.

Yep, I believe they already had to re-schedule Coley's visits because of this.
 
honestly when discussions like this take place, there normally is not this much back and forth. Most of the time the decision has been made and it's contract issues that are getting ironed out. I wonder if its more of this than weighing options.

Coley is the guy I want. I mean cmon I could run the offense with Duke Collin Baby jesus Coley Ermon Lane Sony Dalvin Sandland. With Coley these guys would be locks.

Jimbo will do ANYTHING to Keep Coley at this point, at least for another year. After that he can kick him to the curb. He needs him to close out the recruiting class.

Agree with Franchise and I said it in another thread, if we havent had official word within a few hours, this isnt happening. IM sure Golden gave him a tight deadline. This cannot be allowed to drag on for more than about 24 hours.

It has to be a tough call for Coley. ITs his alma mmater, which is why Im so dubious about all this. Then again, it takes him almost leaving before JImbo offers him concessions? Has to make him wonder if its just to placate him temporarily for the sake of recruiting. IF he passes up this offer, he's at Jimbo's mercy for the next year.

Dudes are kookoo for Cocoa Puffs if they think rivals aren't still trying to get their shots in at us. They will milk that **** for everything it's worth because they know Alshermond is going to bust jaws when the NCAA shackles finally come off.

If we do hire Coley it'll probably be wise not to have him recruit the guys he was recruiting to FSU this year because he was likely trashing UM when he was recruiting them to FSU. Just let them figure it out on their own that if Coley left FSU to come here then they should too.

The guy was the offensive coordinator of the #9 ranked overall offense in the nation last year regardless of whether he called the plays. He designed the gameplan and was involved in game prep. That is almost as importnant as calling the plays.

His school is willing outbid us for him and give him the ability to call plays.

Are we seriously talking about whether he is qualified? You guys are ridiculous.

BTW...Jedd Fisch was miserable in his only year as a playcaller at Minnesota before he got here. His offense was 109th overall.

The guy grew up accross the street from the OB....literally. I am sure he loves FSU, but I am pretty sure he has some strong feelings about Miami.
 
There is no back and forth here. Coley has both offers and is deciding which one is the best choice for him and his family.

We'll essentially have three tight end coaches on the roster coaching tight ends, wide receivers, quarterbacks, and calling plays...

I had my doubts yesterday. Even if the guy was legitimately interested, its his Alma Mater, their staff has imploded, and its two weeks from NLOID. Jimbo is not about to lose his last key recruiter, to their cross state rival, and watch the kids they are fighting us for flock to us. He will do WHATEVER he has to do to keep Coley on board for another year.

That angle about him being an FSU alum don't mean squat. Why? Because him being from South Florida didn't keep him from going to FSU
 
Coley didn't expect Fisher to get desperate and let him call the plays.

I think Coley is pretending to think it over but he wants out and is being respectful.
