Slowly evolve my opinion? GTFOOH! I've said from day one Coley came in learned the terminology and has taken from and added to the playbook. Just because you don't like me and I don't like you doesn't mean you're going to change my beliefs. I could give two shyts about you.

WTF are talking about? Never did I ever say Coley wasn't calling his own plays. I also never said Golden made the plays for him. Where did your retarded *** come with that? I said Golden is a well rounded HC that used to be a TE in college and the NFL and knows what he wants his offense to look like. Golden himself said he wanted Coley to own being an OC here so of course his stamp will be on the offense. I also said that the entire playbook for the offense was not scrapped and that Coley would be taking from it and adding to it. That's what I said and will stick to it. I know you and Franchise are only speaking 100% factual but some people don't care about your Canesinsight message board cred. Some people actually have lives outside of this blog.

You said OC's carry around their playbooks like it's their "resumes". You said Coley learned the terminology to make the transition to his resume easier for the offense to grasp. I don't agree with you. I think he learned the terminology and kept plenty of the playbook that the offense was comfortable and good at running. I agreed that the pistol formation was new and knew he would add certain formation "looks" because Golden wants to be multiple on the offense and defense. If you think Coley came in and installed an entirely new offense this offseason then that's your opinion. I don't agree with it. It's really not that hard of a concept. Oh my, someone doesn't agree with the mighty Zone3nole and Franchise on the interwebs?

One thing I do want to see is some more RB screens though.
I'm very happy based on these two last games. I think Golden held him back against UF, which is the game that obviously troubled us all regarding the offense. I really like what I'm seeing from him -- he mixes it up, he's aggressive but also not too cute, and he gives our RBs and WRs he ball in space with one on one matchups, which they often win. I'm very encouraged.

As more data rolls in, Coley looks to be legit.
My early concerns were lack of commitment to the running game and not utilizing the middle of the field.
Now that the blocking has improved, the run/pass balance is much better.
As for plays over the middle, we're seeing a bit more of it, but with Morris's inconsistency, I can understand keeping his reads easier.
Three of Morris's 4 INTs have come over the middle where he didn't properly judge a LB or Safety.
Better defenses are going to squeeze the stuff outside the hashes, so hopefully we'll see more improvement with intermediate routes over the middle.

One thing I noticed is how soft teams are playing coverage against us. They always have at least one safety very deep and sometimes 2.
Terrified of WR's making big plays and especially Dorsett running behind them.
Big part of how easily we are ripping off 15 yard carries lately but can never quite break any 70 yard Duke runs.
Regardless the offense is very much a pick your poison type deal right now which is great!

I'm getting more comfortable each week with Coley. My early concerns were that it seemed like we didnt know there was a middle of the field in the passing game. We didnt seem to know that we could hit nice 8-10 yard cross and hook routes in the middle. We tried to run outside to the point of predictability. Overall, the offense never seemed truly in sync. Yes we blew out SSU and beat Florida, but outside of a couple drives, our offense did not look consistently clean and in sync.
The last 2 games, we've looked much better and seem to be opening the playbook some more. One poster said it best that we are seeing improvement each week in the offense. If the playcalling remins similar to the last 2 games, I will have very few complaints.
As far as Fisch goes, you guys can put a lid on that crap. Yes there were minor things to complain about in his offense. My biggest problem was on short yardage situations, he would call a pass play. I didnt mind the occasional trick play. He used screen passes effectively and I feel like that is one thing we are missing this year. You can say he did not set up his plays, but I disagree, he set up screens with mid passes and bombs. Duke was very effective in screen passes last year. In the end though, what he did with our QBs was amazing. Just like you guys want to defend dnofrio because of the youth he had on defense, guess what, we had youth and lack of depth/experience on offense as well, but we looked good in the process. A lot of the droughts in offense can just as easily be placed on inconsistent play by the players (and im sure the truth is somewhere in the middle).
