I’m curious if there’s a real shot here? Thought it was a foregone conclusion he was Norman bound

I agree, I'm comfortable with Lyle, Fletcher and Allen next year. Lyle will be good.

Save the cap space that Damien is taking and go get some stud players elsewhere.
Agee like dbs , same for wr unless it’s some super game changer . We don’t need another brown

Everything I’ve heard was it’s more likely he goes to the draft or portal’s. Nothing definitive yet, at least from what I’ve been told.
What’s the reason he hits the portal? He’s got the body of work to prove his skills

Is it looking pretty good that our young DL and WR will stick around? Scott, Blount, McConathy, Pickett, Carr, trader??

Draft grade. If it’s not a high enough grade go elsewhere and get another bag.
Wouldn’t it be in our best interest to keep him around if that’s the case? His bag + Flethcher’s bag= nice payday

Cam made wow plays and was a very good qb but we don’t need all that qb to be successful. With our OL time will be there so progressions are easy to make and you’ll have a good rb. A good qb with good wheels will feast here.

The amount of times we had turnovers or drives end on third down with guys wide open for check downs was frustrating. The GT fourth quarter alone was criminal what they were allowed to do. If the handful of check downs were hit we win. On top of that a lot of the sacks were caused by not throwing it away or checking it down, living to fight another down. I’m not crapping on Cam im just saying we don’t that good of a talent to be successful. A better defense / scheme alone takes away a good bit of the pressure the offense / Cam had to deal with . There was no wiggle room. I do think Cam got caught up in the Heisman hype and was trying to play for highlights / yards.

Yeah I brought it up in the “is Guidry getting scapegoated” thread. It’s undeniable we won 10 games because of Cam. However, I think it’s also true that we didn’t play yesterday in large part because of Cam. Not that shocking- our season depended pretty much entirely on Ward being superhuman, and when he was merely an ordinary QB as he was against GT, the team wasn’t good enough to make up for it.

There has been a little bit of a misleading narrative that GT had some genius gameplan and tried to limit UMs possessions and burn clock. They didn’t do anything different than any other team. UM had 10 possessions in the GT game (compared to 8 possessions against FSU). Of those 10 possessions we had
3 TDs (1 missed 2 pt conversion)
1 FG
3 Turnovers on downs
1 Fumble
2 punts

That is 4 turnovers and 2 punts. That means 60% of our possessions resulted in no points and giving the ball back to GT.

GT didnt run an exotic defense that stumped Cam, they were giving him plenty of opportunities for checkdowns but that day he just didn’t play well. If he hits those check downs in the 4th, the Cuse game is basically irrelevant in terms of making the playoffs.

Even though it’s highly doubtful we get Mateer, I think he might be a better “college qb” than Ward. That’s just because a true dual threat QB is a cheat code. Ward is a phenomenal scrambling qb but he preferred to keep a play alive and wait for a wr to get open deep downfield. Mateer just pulls the ball down and picks up 10 yards. Wards style is better for the nfl. Mateers style gets him killed in the nfl but is a backbreaker to defenses in college.

I see a few people saying Arnold isn’t a bad second option but it should be telling that Oklahoma is letting him walk because they think Mateer is that much better.

On top of that we had long lawls in most games normally in the second quarter. Which is crazy when you look at our offenses ranking. We put up those stats playing 3 quarters. As for Arnold , he played in one of the worst situations as you’ll ever see at this level. Horrible Ol and walk on’s all over the wr unit.

Thats a problem if he portals. If he’s not going to NFL, we need to figure something out and bring him back. He would give us so much more grace to work in a qb. There was a significant gap between DM and MF and Lyle ain’t on his level yet.

We would be in the playoff with a better called game that featured a feature back getting 20+ carries a game.

Fwiw, I think Dawson needs to expand his system to find ways to include more runs to the outside and of course, some presnap motion. But Martinez would EAT next year if he was treated the way he should be.

GT game was no different. GT scored a TD to go up 14-10 with 12 min to go in the 2nd quarter. Our Defense got consecutive 3 and outs and shut GT out for the remainder of the quarter. We got the ball to start the second half and ended up punting. That was 4 consecutive possessions from the start of the 2nd quarter that resulted in giving the ball back to GT.

They could be our farm system

Well...all kidding aside it is kinda what college football is turning into. Very MLB like in that thr small no money teans are just developing talent for thr big money teams.
