its hard to crap on Cam, since he is by far the best and most talented QB we have had in over 20 years and and maybe longer. Also, i am not going to crap on his effort, because he almost tackled the syracuse defender from scoring that TD. he brought u back from 3 potential losses against cal, VT and even duke. Yes, he had some bad int's and he did look for the big plays a little too much, but dont think it was for stats and awards, i think that is his playing style- he did same thing at wazzou. The only thing i wished he did against GT and cuse is maybe run for a few more first downs like he did a beg. of year. I think we win one of those games if he does that and i know he is not run first guy, but he is athletic enough to do that.

TVD was THAT bad. that is what people dont get. You put a competent QB who's a good athlete, you will put up numbers.
Cam is like the guy who will pull on for a 3 on the 3 on 1 fast break. it's just who he is. He gave us a great season, it was fun but I dont see how it works at the next level.

Agreed.

Feels like a guy like Jackson Arnold would be a great fit in SDs offense. Hopefully he’s one of the guys we are reaching out to especially since he has 2 years left.

A grown up in the room that makes good decisions and has some legs can do wonders in today’s football. The defense has to improve for that to happen. There’s not one really good qb in the playoff this year. Most are ok to good. There’s not one Cam level guy. Btw I want a talented qb in the portal , I’m just saying you don’t need what we experienced this year to win. Just don’t be a walking turnover machine.

If we end up with Jackson Arnold as our QB for the next 2 seasons I’d be a pretty happy guy. Probably wouldn’t cost a huge part of the NIL at least in year 1 and then would let Mario go hard at the defense. Would need an experienced WR in the portal but that would seem to be it at least in terms of the skill positions on offense; Mario can and likely will tinker with the OL at his discretion.

we need speed on both sides of the ball. looks at Oregon. Lanning makes a ton of mistakes but they are so fast.

It's a fact and I know the majority of people who are upset with how the season ended won't agree. With our OL and a good (non generational QB) all we need is a little above average defense and we will be good every single year. Cam was electric at times he didn't have to be for us to win. Our running game with Martinez in particular was almost unstoppable. IMO we wasted that more than Cam

I agree, I'm comfortable with Lyle, Fletcher and Allen next year. Lyle will be good.

Save the cap space that Damien is taking and go get some stud players elsewhere.

Thats what I was thinking. Just thinking about the whole portal QB take and how we don't need another Cam for this team to be successful. Didn't know if they are trying to get him to stay to really feature the run to set up the pass and take the pressure off our QB whoever it is.

D-Mart, Fletcher, and a more mature Lyle could really be something unqiue when the run is the feature option. @JayCane20 @DMoney

The amount of times we had turnovers or drives end on third down with guys wide open for check downs was frustrating. The GT fourth quarter alone was criminal what they were allowed to do. If the handful of check downs were hit we win. On top of that a lot of the sacks were caused by not throwing it away or checking it down, living to fight another down. I’m not crapping on Cam im just saying we don’t that good of a talent to be successful. A better defense / scheme alone takes away a good bit of the pressure the offense / Cam had to deal with . There was no wiggle room. I do think Cam got caught up in the Heisman hype and was trying to play for highlights / yards.

Pretty much spot on , we can get a serviceable rpo qb who we can with . We need to fix the D badly
