i would be shocked if that number is accurate. Would make more sense if that’s the total over 2 years.

If by some chance it is the annual figure, I doubt we even touch that

…and we shouldn’t. But I agree with you in saying I highly, highly doubt that number is accurate. It’s that time of year where insane numbers are thrown out for discussion and excuses sake.

If it's just about $$$, there's a possibility that Venables and OU is the better choice. They'll drop a bag for him.

However, if the goal is increasing his draft stock, we have a living breathing example of that in Cam Ward. We've also got a solid OL and RB room returning, along with a WR room with tons of upside (not even counting transfers). OU doesn't have any of that. They do, though, have a coach that's gone 6-6 2/3 years at the helm. Also, he could light it up in the ACC.

I just hope either way we at least get a shot at a pitch. He would be foolish not to at least take the call/visit given his relationship with Cam
Different kind of kid. He doesn't have an agent and doesn't plan to get one.

No idea if that will change things. He seriously weighed staying at Washington State and seems low-key.. he may be one that just wants to commit where he's going and not even bother getting his phone blown up for days.

I could see it either way. TBH I'm nervous he enters with the do not contact tag.

this day and age I’m sure we’ve made contact with already and offered some sort of recruiting pitch. Especially with Cam and him being close.

With how confident the Oklahoma reporters are, I got a bad feeling they threw a ridiculous number at him and this was already decided lol. Does't seem like just guessing
I think most of them are oblivious to Miami waiting in the shadows and just see his OC/QB coach hired at Oklahoma.

I could be totally wrong and they may know something. But I don't see how it would be "done" if he had to spend time with his family and make the decision to enter or not. Doesn't seem like a disingenuous person to already know and then go through the facade after

It would be an insane career choice (assuming equal money) to go to Oklahoma to play qb right now

Feel the same. Seems polarizing the decision. It’s already made for OU and we don’t have a seat at the table, or they are just over confident from the need/desperation and coaching connection

Thought the same thing

If the reports are correct and Ward has talked to him it will say a lot of he doesn’t even listen to us. Again, that is if Cam talking to him is true which you would think he has if they even have a decent relationship.

We've definitely already got a pitch in via Cam or however we've done it.

The biggest pitch and the one that Oklahoma is glossing over right now and avoiding entirely is their roster, their WRs (or lack thereof), and their OL situation.

Getting him to visit will be the deciding factor IMO. If he comes to UM and visits Oklahoma and meets the players, etc. and we get a chance to talk to him about all the WRs that have left, they were 132/134 in QB sacked % allowed (and have no portal traction to address the OL)... we were 15th in 2023 and 39th in 2024 and return 5 guys that started games.... we should/could close the deal. Gotta get him to visit though.

Trying to be as objective as possible, and not see the world thru our orange and green lenses. Feel like he would be better off staying at Wash St vs OU. That place is a disaster. Do they even have a WR on roster right now?

I also love how someone there on their site posted that if he goes there, there’s going to all of a sudden be a rush of receivers to go there that either are not available now or haven’t even visited there

Miami will not lose him due to money. Oklahoma would have gotten him by hiring his relationships. Anyone saying anything different if it doesn’t go out way and crying about Miami is clueless

Let’s hope we get a swing in person

-Similar to UF and Lagway, coach execrable and OU is hitching their wagons on a QB they think will get them closer to the finish line. That kind of pressure can make diamonds or bust pipes.
-I just don't see the cohesiveness or talent around him that makes me think OU is a major player with or without him next year.
