While we probably offer a good NIL package, I would not put it past them to basically issue a blank check or say we'll top anything Miami puts in writing by $500k.
Not sure it’ll be that much of a gap, but even if there is a discrepancy, you show him the view from his new penthouse apartment in Brickell and that gap shrinks enormously.

I’ve flown over Norman many times. If my plane went down over that backwater I hope I perish in the crash so I don’t have to spend a second alive in that miserable town.

I see Alabama Jalen Hurts. He’s excellent on designed runs

Stats aren't even far off either when you account for the difference in volume in the passing game. Average per pass is close, comp % is close, yards, TDs, yards per carry is close, more TDs on the ground. Slightly less elusive runner with more power and less off script/playmaker in the passing game.

If that happens, our counter is look at the difference between Cam's guaranteed money he's going to get going, at worst top-10 in the draft, versus what he was going to get in the draft last year. It's gonna be multiple millions of dollars, right? Next closest 1 year ROI for a transfer QB would be Hurts - undrafted (?) to second round.

Like you, I expect our NIL to be competetive but if OU tries to break the bank I still think we have a compelling argument to get Mateer.

D$ said Mendoza will get a million from a team who needs a qb badly. I believe it. But if we can get mateer for 1.5? Please go that route

I hope Cristobal takes this recruitment personally. Outside of the obvious that Mateer is significantly better than any of the current options in the portal or on the roster, Venebles talked all that **** about Miami before the start of the season only to vomit all over himself and go 6-6. The situation here is ideal for any QB and missing on Mateer would be incredibly detrimental for Oklahoma. The advantages UM presents over OU are obvious. Get this done.

Maybe Mateer is waiting till after the bowl game to enter. They play on the 27th and the deadline is 28th

Hasn't stopped all of the other guys on their team
Because they aren’t going to play in the game. Usually when guys enter they don’t play. Maybe he wants to play in the bowl game first

Yup, and I think Mateer's passing ability would make him the best running QB threat we've had here in a long, long time. To be clear, I'm not saying he's a better athlete and runner than someone like Jacurri Brown, but Jacurri couldn't throw the ball which made his running threat less lethal in game action. Mateer is a great running QB who is also a plus thrower.
I think this is what everyone was hoping Jacurri would turn into. Definitely had to tools.
