All in on Mateer (Boomed and Sooned)

This. College football is all flash. After Cam, it’s so easy to just want the flashy new toy. But let’s be real, who are the quarterbacks in the playoff now:

Will Howard
Gabriel
Beck
Rorke
Ewers

Lot of “mid” that people here didn’t want last year or next year.

Cam Ward isn’t just appearing again. This roster has other holes, and hopefully they get addressed.

But Dawson turned our 100th ranked offense to the 30’s and then number 1. There’s been a consistent message the staff and players live and trust Emory.

Sucks that we don’t get the new fun toy. But we got to trust the guys that have just had some really good success and what they see.
Every one of those teams either has WAY more talent across the board and/or better coaching.

And every single one of those QB’s are veterans who have had very successful college careers. They aren’t elite, but they certainly aren’t bums.

I agree, theres still half a starting defense that needs to be ugraded in the portal but if it gets there, my predictions for next year-

Mendoza's ceiling is probably 10 wins,. Floor probably 8 wins.

Emory - Ceiling 8 wins , Floor is benched and nickel starting mid season
So what is Klubniks ceiling? What is Maddux Madsens ceiling and floor? What is Riley Leonards Floor/Ceiling? Kurtis Rourke in 2023 had 2,207 yards, 11 tds, and 5 ints in 11 games as a 5th year senior. This year as a 6th year senior he led Indiana to the #2 offense in the country behind us. All those are QBs in the CFP today lol

lol none of yall know Mendoza is max a 10 win Qb, just like you don't know Emory is a max 8 win QB.... At the end of the day it's a team game. And just cause we had 10 wins with a heisman finalist Qb doesn't mean we can't win more with a worse QB... I can agree that the floor can be lower for sure. But to act like next year is set in stone that we can't win 10 again is ridiculous and just 1000% ignores all of football history lol.

Mendoza throws for 3,500 yards and 25-30 TDs here in this offense. With what I think we have coming back and how I expect it to look, I’d see us around 15-20 in scoring offense.

Improve the defense and I can see us going 10-2 again. Going to take an investment at CB1, another safety, and a stud DT. Then, round out the offense with 1, maybe 2 more WRs and maybe a starting caliber LG to push competition there (or center).

Pay Singleton and Mendoza Mateer’s money and I’d be happy.
I think Dawson knows what he needs and will get it right.

I actually like Mendoza quite a bit more than it seems like most people do and maybe was a little less sold on Mateer than some here. Mendoza is 6’4 with solid enough arm and good mobility. He has almost a whole season of PAC 12 experience plus a season of ACC experience. Cignetti wants him for a reason. A QB like him can do well in Dawson’s offense.

Mendoza and Mateer had one common opponent this season in Oregon State. The results . . .

Mendoza 27-36 (75%), 364 yards, 2 TDs, 0 Int, 178.3 passer rating, QBR 87, 5 rushes for 25 yards (5.0)

Mateer 17-23 (73.9%), 250 yards, 2 TDs, 0 Int, 193.9 passer rating, QBR 89.9, 14 rushes for 75 yards (5.4)

Just so you're aware, this is the genius who thought the stadium was empty because the band wasn't in their seats. This was while he was at the game upset because he couldn't bring in his vape and a bottle of rum.

If you choose to continue arguing with him knowing that, it's on you.
Wait what happened now? @RightSaidFred was livid because stadium security did their jobs and wouldn’t allow him inside with his own booze and vape? First off who the **** vapes and second he really got that upset about the band not being in their seats?

funny part is they dont see what CIS sees in emory otherwise they wouldn't be chasing their next starter in the portal. they told you what they thought of emory

It’s time for the meathead to cut his losses and go with a battle between Emory and Nickel this offseason. I think that Nickel easily wins this battle, if they are fair about it.

It’s better to let Nickel take his lumps this season, and let him then be ready to guide us to the playoffs during his Sophomore and Junior seasons. Worst thing Cristobal can do is have Nickel transfer out after his FR year because he didn’t win the job and feels likes he’s the better QB.

A lot of us knew that Mario was a great recruiter and a mediocre HC when he was hired. With NIL now being prevalent, it’s clear that his recruiting advantage is gone. He’ll have to greatly improve on his decision making skills and offseason tortoise pace in making personnel and coaching staff decisions and hires, if he ever wants a chance to even play in a conference championship game.

Singleton is going to Auburn

Or they like him enough that they only considered surefire starters and thus didn't go after huge question marks like Arnold, Mensah, Murphy, etc

They thought that he was worse than one of the likely top 5 returning Qbs in the country? Wow so telling.. smfh

Brad Kaaya won the job as a true freshman and did pretty good I thought. But that’s also because Ryan Williams unfortunately got hurt in spring ball. Didn’t help his defense was run by the second worst DC in program history. Yes Guidry is the worst ever. **** it give the keys to Nickel.
