Yeah but apparently we're broke. It's obvious our NIL isn't cutting it.

It's extra disgusting because we play Notre Dame, Florida, AND Florida State next year. Our three biggest rivals. And we're gonna trot out Emory and the worst defense in modern history for those games?

I don't blame Mario. I blame the admin, and boosters like Mas etc for not stepping up enough. This isn't the only kid we've lost. We had a trash HS recruting class and have missed on just about every other portal target as well. Our "collective" has dried up.

This. College football is all flash. After Cam, it’s so easy to just want the flashy new toy. But let’s be real, who are the quarterbacks in the playoff now:

Will Howard
Gabriel
Beck
Rorke
Ewers

Lot of “mid” that people here didn’t want last year or next year.

Cam Ward isn’t just appearing again. This roster has other holes, and hopefully they get addressed.

But Dawson turned our 100th ranked offense to the 30’s and then number 1. There’s been a consistent message the staff and players live and trust Emory.

Sucks that we don’t get the new fun toy. But we got to trust the guys that have just had some really good success and what they see.

The problem is we’re waiting too late to go get the extremely helpful pieces at D and WR. Most of the top level are committed. Hard not to be pessimistic about everything around this program since November 1st.

Exactly. If he didn't even bother visiting and just took OU up on their offer right away, it's clear that's the only place he wanted to be.

Jackson and Stone were purported to be a package deal so we sure as **** were all in recruiting Jackson. He just chose OU pretty early and turned into a Freshman AA .... and it would be a bigger failure if we weren't recruiting him.

We messed around waiting for mateer when we could have gone all in on other options but Mario thought he could pull another cam (who, btw, we almost lost and we were this close to playing last year with Emory and Reese).

We may have also lost some chances with some big time WRs given we moved slow on the qb front.

Outside of cam, our best portal pieces came from the spring window. FWIW

Oklahoma offered more. Just like LSU offered more for Pickett, Florida offered more for Hanks, etc etc.

Our boosters cheaped out and the proof is in the results. Mateer is just one of MANY misses over the past few months and it's because we're not paying enough.

Or maybe there’s people in the playoffs that are gonna go to the portal after their games that are on their first or second team as opposed to the guys on the third team getting no representative already made it public

**** on the program all you want but Dawson is well regarded in coaching circles when it comes to finding qb talent.

Or helping a super talented guy go from day 3 to top 3 pick

I wanted mateer. Still would love a clear upgrade if available. Mendoza isn’t that to me. I’d rather ride with Emory and Luke and trust Dawson and a bunch of other coaches and players if we can’t find a true stud.

you have NO idea what you are talking about. We won't overpay. Mateer was a blank check.

Hanks was a legacy but we were willing to pay. Pickett tried to get counter offers to LSU, NO ONE countered. Stubbs the staff viewed as to high bust potential to overpay and we got the j-ville state kid for half the price.
