Ahmad Moten SR HL

This is correct. I've been following recruiting for a long time and virtually EVERY DT coming out of HS gets that knock - "takes plays off", etc. It's nonsense and the reality is that if you're a DT in HS, you probably don't have the necessary S&C to be "on" the whole game. It's lazy commentary.
Good

Y’all over sells these comps hard lol Lewis was a 10year NFL vet lol I’m getting more Courtel Jenkins vibes. A guy that can be a solid role player anything more would be over achieving

Sucks we didn’t land R Mason Thomas. If moten is 6’3 then Thomas is 6’3-6’4 too and looks like a beast

Moten is a stud though. I’ll take him all day over Daniel Lyons or Zane Durant
Lyons was very overrated. Moten is just scratching the surface on how good he can be with good coaching. His junior film was not impressive at all. He made major strides during senior year.

If he is awesome but just my opinion I think y’all are overhyping dude. Jenkins was solid even in that terrible scheme. I’m just saying guys like Moten in transition classes rarely work out. I’ll gladly eat crow if I’m wrong

I really like his film. Like so many other Canes have already said, he is sudden, has power, and has really good lateral movement. Pairing him with Taylor is going to be a nightmare scenario for opposing offensive lines.

To be honest, he looks better than Nesta day 1...
Nesta was over hyped honestly
And some of that I believe was because that year American heritage had 4 guys we wanted and we got was nesta so lots of fans hyped him up to lessen the pain

I heard about his Junior year, but people weren't as high on him. I swear, he just turned it on.
Maybe he had a "coming to jesus" or something.
Which would explain his late bloomer status. Did you not say he was a one-man wrecking crew during states?

Courtel could have ended up a lot better than he did. He had some potential. But ultimately he was a run stuffer. A similar role but better player than Jon Ford because while he couldn't get to the QB, he at least manned his gap well.

I think this kid's step is (much) better, and he can help on both pass and rush plays. He'll collapse a pocket from inside. I agree with @LuCane . Put him off center and pair him with a guy like Taylor. Will cause havoc with the OC's protection scheme. And more than stout enough to handle the run.

I like that we’re going for naturally bigger guys. That’s been a bigger problem with OL, but it also applies to DL.

Almost all of our current DL, especially DT, have had to put on significant weight to reach the lower end of acceptable weight for their position.
This.

We’ve been holding onto that 1980s Miami mentality too long - that our DTs should come in at 260 and get bulked up. The game has changed. The elite DL guys are bigger and stronger and still fast.

We can’t spend 2-3 years trying to build up small DTs while they get their **** pushed in. We’ve been too weak upfront for too long.

Bring guys in who already have good size so then it’s just about 1 year of S&C to harden and chisel then get them on the field to dominate.

If Coach Ghoul wanted him, then that is good enough for me.

Agree re: Jenkins. Wish he'd stuck around and finished here.

You're pretty high on Moten. Just need to see more, though the film was impressive, albeit short. I think the floor is a contributor (rotational), and there's clearly some talent to work with.

What’s the point of following recruiting if we can’t overhype all our guys?!
