He's not rated as high because he was a late bloomer. The kid is probably a legit 4-star talent.

And as far as motor...
Let's not get carried away with the regurgitated cliche Kiper talk.
NO 300 POUND HIGH SCHOOL KID HAS A MOTOR THAT'S ALWAYS ON 100!!!

His film shows that he's willing to stay in the fight and chase the ball down. The first play on his film is motor 101.

In college he'll have better nutrition, better conditioning and he won't have to play 100% of the snaps.
Coach, I was just about to say that. Comp level definitely wasn't an issue. Gibbons is the 4th of what I like to call the Big 4 of the Broward Private powers. Of course STA, AH, and Chaminade being the others. Back to back 5A Champs in AH's class, so, yeah.

But answer this for me Coach. I know he came on strong as a 12th grader but was jit a corpse out there his Junior year? Because I find it a little strange that he wasn't mentioned with your kid and Lyons leading up to the season...

Jack would've been a great college coach for the past 25 years if he wasn't running a multi million dollar business.
That's cool. I keep hearing how this guy's a guru, but for some reason I keep getting kids from Gibbons who I'm told "can't play there", then they turn around and have All County seasons for me. Weird stuff.

The DE that "couldn't play" for Jack just had 18.5 sacks for me and won Broward DPOY.

I heard about his Junior year, but people weren't as high on him. I swear, he just turned it on.
Maybe he had a "coming to jesus" or something.

There is probably no other player in the class that we know - for sure - what he'll be here than this guy. Should develop into a solid starting quality interior defensive lineman (maybe he's a rotational guy if we really develop and recruit some high end interior guys...but he'll be starting quality). Maybe not a very ceiling, but he can play.

/waits for the bump in 3 years when he's a bum
We hope we have less and less of those players now Mario is here. The main thing I'm hoping for is culture change and getting out the most of every player.

Ok I used to know a lot more about Gibbons but Coach Ron went to STA a few years ago and my cousin/godson transferred from there to Plantation before the school year started, so jit was a mystery to me. @MISTER OWL said he was at Piper for 3 years so that would explain A LOT...

He's supposedly 320 pounds. He's not necessarily sloppy, but it's not all good weight, either. He can realistically stay around 310-315. I know he's got some quickness and get-off (his brother got upfield ok, too, with some decent hands and swims), but I don't see the 3-tech some of you are claiming. I say shade this dude over the center. Make that Center's life impossible or require double teams. Benefit everyone else.

That 2019 Piper team didn't win a game and maybe saw the endzone three times all year. I'm sure he was just out there getting double teamed down the field, would sit down for 4 plays, then go do it again. And 2020 was 2020. Probably a lot of "sleepers" in this class since their junior year covided

Wait, am I reading that correctly? Moten only played at Gibbons for one year? Thanks for any info.

No, I’m just saying he was Piper in 19. Maybe I have math numbers wrong - he was at Piper his Sophomore year. I thought he was at CG his junior year, but I don’t really know. And than I was saying 2020 was just a f*cked season

Confidence coach? Happened to me at a different level when I hit the weights and never looked back.

This is correct. I've been following recruiting for a long time and virtually EVERY DT coming out of HS gets that knock - "takes plays off", etc. It's nonsense and the reality is that if you're a DT in HS, you probably don't have the necessary S&C to be "on" the whole game. It's lazy commentary.

the kid was 17. if the light didn't come on until this year, that's still sooner than most.
