A quick update after talking to some people

Mario is a great recruiter. Plenty of scalps on the wall there. The staff has a lot to prove. Let’s see how it finishes.

As for the rest of your question, they had momentum with big-time kids visiting multiple times and providing good feedback. Most of that is public. They have since lost momentum and not closed on enough kids. That’s recruiting and they are losing right now. I’m giving you the state of affairs from Miami’s perspective as direct as you can get. Right now, it’s not good and needs to get better.
Appreciate the update even if it’s bad.

I couldn't agree more. UM needs to overachieve this year. Even 8 wins won't cut it. Mario needs at least 9 wins to get momentum going for the program. Programs like Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Iowa and Ole Miss have had several seasons where their record is better than their talent level would indicate, but Miami has only done it once recently that I can think of in 2017. It's time for Mario to earn that generous salary and win now.

8 needs to be the absolute floor, and quite frankly, would feel like a bit of a letdown...

thanks

mario did this to himself. Hiring beard was weak. keeping Addae was lazy too

but also I think it is fair to ask if we are botching nil strategy as well this cycle. Or have not enough money to botch

Who tf u think canes connection is tard
Lmao, you think the guy who switched the brand of his company to life wallet sport has now put all his resources into cane connection. Btw if you think you’re more connected to the situation, you’re not. He made a commitment to the canes connection but it’s a fraction of what he initially promised and an even smaller fraction than what he put in last year. As I’ve said before, we should be grateful for his generosity.

Remember last year when all the talk was "Miami is committed to winning now, we're spending money now, yada yada." Yeah well that was all a bunch of bull****, wasn't it?

Texas A&M can tell you for a fact that line of thinking is bull****. They were in our exact same situation, they had a horrible season two years ago, and followed it up with the greatest recruiting class in the history of recruiting classes the very next cycle, headlined by a bunch of 5* defensive linemen. Por que? Because they spent big.

So the whole "we need to win" excuse is just more bull**** to keep y'all placated with a glimmer of hope, if we just win we'll land a great class. Then they'll let you down easy in February with "well it was just a little too late" or "they need to see more than one good season."

You want the truth, the truth is we're not landing big time recruits because we're not big time committed. The admin lied to you. It's the same old Miami as always.

We're not spending the NIL money we were last year. We had one guy dropping all the bags, and that guy is nowhere to be seen this year for various reasons. That's what it's about. Recruiting took a hit because John Ruiz went missing.

The last time I said something like this, I got thrown in purgatory for 6 months. So we'll see if y'all want this opinion silenced or not this time around. But the evidence is right in front of us all. You can either be duped by promises of a better tomorrow, or you can believe what's staring you right in the face, it's up to you.

People ask me why I’ve changed.

“What’s happened to you?” they ask. “I hope you’re ok.”

I don’t think many people have properly digested how bad last year was, on and off the field. I’ve said this before: what Miami fans think of last year is utterly irrelevant. This is what last year looked like to everyone else:

- TVD went from a possible top 10 pick to almost unplayable. He was broken, slowly and relentlessly, over the course of a season.
- Confirmed the belief that Mario Cristobal is not friendly to QBs, or offensive talent in general.
- Miami has a new floor as a program. Even in mediocrity, Miami was competitive more often than not. Not anymore.
- Miami has almost no talent defensively.
- Even Mario and Mirabal can’t make this offensive line work.
- Miami has fallen behind Norvell and FSU.

Your opinion of whether or not those things are true is irrelevant. Some of y’all have been lying to yourselves about how bad last year was. 2022 was one of the worst versions of 5-7 that I’ve ever seen, and I blame Mario 100% for it. His stubbornness on offensive coordinator hiring (and his terrible choice for DC), doomed the team. For the first time since I was a teenager, I did not plan my weekends around Miami football, because they were unwatchable. And unfortunately for Mario, they were on television every single week.

Nothing is wrong with me, well, no more than anyone else. I am a reasonable skeptic with this program, because you are what your record says you are. The recruiting struggles this season are not surprising to me in the least.

Why is it surprising so many of us then?

Mario's first staff sucked and it's not sounding good so far on the new staff either (still early though). Hopefully they can improve because if not Mario's 0-2 on hiring coaches, he's cooked.
