A quick update after talking to some people

UM/Mario needs a 1998/99 type of season, that was key for Butch, rebounding after that 97 disaster(that wasn't really his fault). I remember after 98 feeling like, 'OK, there is hope, here. We can do this."

And it was around that time that Butch started to recruit really, really well.

The Texas A@M game, I just feel it's so important, it can really set a great tone with a big win

I’m certainly no recruiting expert but all of these ”wins” over the likes of WVA for three star kids doesn’t seem all that improved from the past several regimes. I’m not saying they won’t develop into solid players but just doesn’t seem like the recipe to get us out of mediocrity.

I know you and @k9cane are aware of the '24 season also.. @UF, @Clemson, @ND.. Better have a squad for the road warriors..

This is a constant of the Miami coaching arch. Scapegoat your original hires and start bringing in nostalgia hires in desperation for some cheap immediate relief.

They believe the roster is a hundred times better than last year- that belief needs to turn into wins and momentum on the field. Hopefully, there is some good news off the field coming soon. Until then, everyone is right to be concerned because the results speak for themselves.

the way things were run last year was almost exclusively through ruiz. He’s also hurting right now, if people don’t think that’s bad for the program, they are wrong. There are other boosters stepping up, canes connection is helping…. Rad prioritized facility over NIL, it’s hard to get donors who are used to their names on buildings to donate to high school kids. Pray for nine wins.
 
No WRs want to play here. No elite DBs. Can’t even recruit good QBs. We’ll see how Dawson does but not a lot of faith in Mario ever having elite offenses.

I don’t think it was all Nil but it played a part. Nebraska was on him longer and treated him like a priority all along. I literally posted a few hours ago “ MiamI doesn’t get the home town love if they offer a kid later or push for him later in the process. UF can offer a Jax kid in the twelfth hour and they commit”.

Regardless it’s a what have you done for me lately business and we’re currently getting our asses kicked.

Curious to see how long Barney lasts in Nebraska before transferring out like other SFl kids have. Its so odd how SFl kids will whine about past year records "show me something", being "late" recruiting them, not fawning over them, etc when its about Miami, while not a single one of those things matter when it comes to out of state teams. Its like UM has a built in disadvantage instead of an advantage being the hometown team. SFl kids are strange.

The entire conversation was about the fact that we have so many three stars in that rankings and hitting a certain points level matters and you came in with your development point, so yeah, that’s why it matters
