A quick update after talking to some people

Remember last year when all the talk was "Miami is committed to winning now, we're spending money now, yada yada." Yeah well that was all a bunch of bull****, wasn't it?

Texas A&M can tell you for a fact that line of thinking is bull****. They were in our exact same situation, they had a horrible season two years ago, and followed it up with the greatest recruiting class in the history of recruiting classes the very next cycle, headlined by a bunch of 5* defensive linemen. Por que? Because they spent big.

So the whole "we need to win" excuse is just more bull**** to keep y'all placated with a glimmer of hope, if we just win we'll land a great class. Then they'll let you down easy in February with "well it was just a little too late" or "they need to see more than one good season."

You want the truth, the truth is we're not landing big time recruits because we're not big time committed. The admin lied to you. It's the same old Miami as always.

We're not spending the NIL money we were last year. We had one guy dropping all the bags, and that guy is nowhere to be seen this year for various reasons. That's what it's about. Recruiting took a hit because John Ruiz went missing.

The last time I said something like this, I got thrown in purgatory for 6 months. So we'll see if y'all want this opinion silenced or not this time around. But the evidence is right in front of us all. You can either be duped by promises of a better tomorrow, or you can believe what's staring you right in the face, it's up to you.
The fact that @DMoney @Geo305 or Gaby won’t answer or even touch any of the NIL questions is very forth telling IMO

Mario is a great recruiter. Plenty of scalps on the wall there. The staff has a lot to prove. Let’s see how it finishes.

As for the rest of your question, they had momentum with big-time kids visiting multiple times and providing good feedback. Most of that is public. They have since lost momentum and not closed on enough kids. That’s recruiting and they are losing right now. I’m giving you the state of affairs from Miami’s perspective as direct as you can get. Right now, it’s not good and needs to get better.

Thanks for the info as always D. Just curious. Does our NIL still stack up or are we falling behind there?

They better start overpaying for some elite recruits then cuz that’s the only thing that’s going to get momentum back. 8 wins will be nice to solidify most, but those big time players. Cut the check or live with the results.

I feel fairly confident that this whole issue was half incompetence and half NIL insolvency

I always thought Ruiz talked too much and people here pointed out the financials of his company and I’m sure he’s just not be suddenly being quiet now because he found some grace. And I’m guessing the back up plan to his money hasn’t come to fruition to the degree they want.

I saw online today that UM athletics raised 36% more money this year too. I think it was 24 million but think about that and figure out how much the new facility is going to cost and how much they need to raise for that.

something is off $$

Because going from the hype of the Mario hire to the reality of his first season was like driving a car going 95 directly into a brick wall. Most of us haven’t even realized the car has stopped yet.
You mean the seatbelt knocking out your Adam’s apple hasn’t worked yet

You don't need them to confirm what's obvious. If it was all about winning, then why did all those 5* players visit in June? Did they just forget our 2022 record in June, decide to check us out, and then July comes around and they're like "oh yeah, Miami did bad last year, nevermind."

No. Those players visited because we have a reputation for paying big NIL. John Ruiz built us a big NIL brand. So they showed up to see what's up.

The only way they sign is if the offer is enough to make it worth their while.

Not every player is all about bags. But for every Brandon Innis, there are five Shemar Stewarts out there. Innis is a unicorn. He wanted to go to a program that has a history of development and winning over bags. But he's not the norm. 99% of 5* recruits will go for bags over everything else, plain and simple. That's how Alabama and Georgia were built. And you know what, it makes sense... 99% of us will go for a job that pays us more. It's the way the world works, football is not an exception. These guys aren't charities. There is no hometown discount, nor should there be. Miami needs to put up.

This is about bags and NIL, plain and simple. You don't need an insider to tell you that. We're not landing studs because we're not paying, and that's all.

I can say only up to an extent and not too much beyond what I’m sharing. NIL is not the problem, plenty between the collective and LW.

LW has taken on practically all of the new guys and retained majority of the most impactful players on the roster. The collective is doing its part too.

To add on, I handle a lot of content with these guys. I’ve said for months that you can only sell a vision for so long, NIL can only go so far… you have to show results.

Don't care how our insiders keep drilling us with our NIL still being strong and we have all these billionaires with much more money than Ruiz donating to our collectives but it's just too big a coincidence that as Ruiz stock has plummeted and he had his tongue and balls cut off the recruiting losses have piled on.We were awful last year and not only were still beating the big dogs for studs but were even flipping them Michigan and OSU.Now we can't even hang with Nebraska.I'm sure we have enough NIL to sign a whale or 2 but it's clear it's nothing close to last years budget.

There's no way around it. Miami is taking a beating right now. The Barney loss was a whiff on a kid we wanted badly in our backyard. I'm not very confident in Justin Scott, either. Miami remains in other premier battles (and is doing great work with Kamarion Franklin, JoJo Trader, Zaquan Patterson, Artavius Jones and others) but there is zero momentum. We need to win badly, and we are going to be playing from behind in recruiting for the next few months because we didn't win last year.

They believe the roster is a hundred times better than last year- that belief needs to turn into wins and momentum on the field. Hopefully, there is some good news off the field coming soon. Until then, everyone is right to be concerned because the results speak for themselves.
I said this early last season when Mario was refusing to fire Gattass after our abysmal start, and it came back to bite him in the ***. He could have stopped the bleeding early, and saved the season and not looked like the worst offense in Canes history.

The damage that was done by this was way worse than even I anticipated. Mario rolled the dice by trying to keep the “coaching circles” bullshyte etiquette thing going, and forgot that the elite coaches don’t give a f**k, and will fire any coach that’s not performing at any time.

Saban, Smart, Deebo, Riley, etc., would have at the very least taken his game planning and game calling duties away, and had an assistant take over those duties in the interim. Mario made a ton of rookie mistakes last season, and now it’s affecting his bread and butter, his recruiting.

I said he was on the clock late last season after the disaster that we were watching on a weekly basis. Now he’s DEFINITELY on the clock. Dude better let our OC/DC cook this season, and stay the f**k out the way of momma’s kitchen.

Kids aren't gonna commit to a ACC team, knowing that conference fate is dead.
