A quick update after talking to some people

Nebraska won 4 ******* games last year. We need to win to outrecruit a 4-win Nebraska for a local 4*? Totally ****ed if true.
Rhule is in year one. New coaches get the benefit of the doubt. He won 10 games twice at Temple and once at Baylor. That's impressive.

Once your **** the bed at a new job you are done. Need to capitalize.

All I see on the board.....

We go 5-7 and people expect us to be able to recruit like we just won 10+ games last year. Please do me a favor and.....

If it's November and we only have 5 wins to our name I'll start getting worried until then I'm cooling and watching from a distance.

Their coach just got there, ours face planted season one. At some point you must show something on the field. If not it’s only hot air.
I spent a few days talking w a Nebraska booster at my grandsons football camp. He was telling me they are a terrible program w no end in sight. Matt Rhule must be selling some good stuff. But, like you said, we need to show something good.

@The Franchise

So u gave a boring reaction to both myself & Cribby for stating an actual fact. So pls, how about u tell us & this board why is it boring? Do u think it’s in defense of Mario? If so, I can assuredly tell u it’s not, at least on my end. If it’s something else that bores u, pls enlighten us.

The program is in worse shape under Mario than it was under Randy, Golden, or Diaz. Truly an impressive feat of incompetence.
No it isn't the admin have finally spent money the hurricanes have been mediocre since 05. I hate all these emotional members on this forum. Stop crying stop B#$@#$#@$. Let everything play out. They will be better this year. Chili the $&#@ out please.

Like I said in another thread, I only shoot as straight as what I’m told with people close and involved to these recruitments. Miami (staff) has felt good about a lot of these battles. They were blindsided with Barney today.

July is going to tell a lot if it was just wishful thinking from the staff.
Dennis Smith went from tweeting images of whales to copping pleas about the success of 3 star recruits. I think the staff now knows it was wishful thinking.

People ask me why I’ve changed.

“What’s happened to you?” they ask. “I hope you’re ok.”

I don’t think many people have properly digested how bad last year was, on and off the field. I’ve said this before: what Miami fans think of last year is utterly irrelevant. This is what last year looked like to everyone else:

- TVD went from a possible top 10 pick to almost unplayable. He was broken, slowly and relentlessly, over the course of a season.
- Confirmed the belief that Mario Cristobal is not friendly to QBs, or offensive talent in general.
- Miami has a new floor as a program. Even in mediocrity, Miami was competitive more often than not. Not anymore.
- Miami has almost no talent defensively.
- Even Mario and Mirabal can’t make this offensive line work.
- Miami has fallen behind Norvell and FSU.

Your opinion of whether or not those things are true is irrelevant. Some of y’all have been lying to yourselves about how bad last year was. 2022 was one of the worst versions of 5-7 that I’ve ever seen, and I blame Mario 100% for it. His stubbornness on offensive coordinator hiring (and his terrible choice for DC), doomed the team. For the first time since I was a teenager, I did not plan my weekends around Miami football, because they were unwatchable. And unfortunately for Mario, they were on television every single week.

Nothing is wrong with me, well, no more than anyone else. I am a reasonable skeptic with this program, because you are what your record says you are. The recruiting struggles this season are not surprising to me in the least.

I find myself being a cynical optimist as I get older...

It is still Nebraska. Rhule is not Saban. And Mario is supposed to be the better recruiter with (allegedly) more NIL.

Don’t hold your breath.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but statistically speaking most kids don’t flip. Including most 5 stars and 4 stars.

And June 2023 recruiting timeline is not the same as a decade ago. It gets late early

Possible one or two yeah - but everyone stating if we win it will
Change is not looking at historical trends other than maybe for players who are in fact making late decisions - but flipping is hard. Trust me I tried and almost went to the hospital.

Yeah and we still had the worst season and several of our worst losses in decades thanks to Mario.
Blowout to MTSU
Blowout to Duke
Blowout to FSU in front of tons of recruits and a full stadium
Blowout to Pitt on senior night
Embarrassing loss to A&M with 0 TDs

How many quarters did we go again without scoring a TD? 9?

It's easy to argue that even with record spending and investing in the program that under Mario's watch he's allowed it to sink to new lows that many of us haven't experienced in our lifetime.

That’s depressing - if they were blindsided by a local kid, I can only imagine how blindsided they’ll get by the non-local kids.

I know you win some and lose some but does getting blindsided with a local kid emblematic of a larger issue?

If the staph has been blindsided, then they are amateurs. Real recruiters know what’s going on and know when to cut bait. Mario was supposed to be an elite recruiter and so far this cycle doesn’t appear to be doing anything except drinking cafecito and eating croquetas on an elite level.
