That’s even more of a reason to up the ante imo. It’s easy for me (and us) to say because it’s not our money, so I get it. But if what we were told regarding proper and unprecedented financial commitment to Mario was true, then we should be snagging our fair share of blue chips.

UF doesn’t seem to have an issue offsetting this predicament. And no one is clamoring for a Top 3 class. We just want Top 8-12, preferably 10 or better - it’s why Mario was so alluring. We did it last year and in the portal, despite our performance on the field. I don’t see why we can’t do it again.

Still plenty of recruits out there, but the urgency is here and the negative recruiting is at an all-time high. Something must be done to counter.

It’s always the same story. Recruits need to see us win. We must be the only program in the country that must prove it. And time after time, we never do prove it on the field.

I thought that’s why Mario was brought? To recruit through anything. Even through that ****show season that he was responsible for. This class will be underwhelming. Hyped up as always with the possibilities while some people will delude themselves into thinking our 3 stars are better than other 3 stars and deserves a bump. As always.

Recruiting was precisely why Mario was brought here. The narrative was always that he had shown the ability to get highly rated recruits and was one of the literal top recruiters in the country.

But yeah, now the propaganda, I mean narrative, is that we need to win games before Mario becomes this elite recruiter again.

So is Mario an elite recruiter or not? Someone please answer this question without defaulting to “yes but he needs to win” because that makes absolutely no sense logically.

underwhelming to whose standards? and it's only July ffs. if you thought we'd just get anybody we wanted coming off 5-7 that's your own fault. expectations are premeditated resentments. so don't have any expectations and you'll never be let down because you sound miserable

To the standards set by everyone here. Was Mario not touted as a top recruiter in the country?

But now he can’t recruit because of 5-7. Sounds like we are in the same position as with Manny. Weird for an alleged elite recruiter.

We just signed the best class in school history coming off that 5-7. wtf are you talking about? if it's December and we are having this conversation than sure. But it's JULY!

I have never seen a post that claimed Mario Cristobal was the top recruiter in the country. Using words like "alleged" and "propoganda" are not really measurable. Compare apples to apples. Mario isn't Saban, Mario isn't Kirby. I think that's pretty well established by overall team ratings on signing day for every year Mario has been a head coach. What's your solution? Complaining is not a solution. We all know the problem is not lack of work ethic. It's not a lack of energy. Mario gets great recruits on campus. If you think the solution is more NIL related, then we aren't talking about Mario anymore are we? Obviously the solution is winning more on the field. But if you have more solutions to add, please enlighten me.
 
Some of you negative ninnies should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. I bet that each and every ones of you will claim to have "known it was going to happen" if we end up having a good year. Other that Richt, we have had a litany of failed regimes since 2001. We also had the stain of Shapiro. But yes, you expect Mario to walk in and fix everything in under a year. If you really think that was going to happen, I have to ocean front property in Nebraska to sell you. Best thing most of you can do it sit down shut up and give the men a chance to right the ship.

Now with that corrected, it’s really your position that Mario wasn’t touted as one of the top recruiters in the country coming into Miami? I can’t even get to the rest of your post because of how absurd that statement would be if you really believe it.

I do not believe that Mario is the top recruiter in the country. I do not believe Mario Cristobal is a top 5 recruiter either.

#7 - Miami 2023
#16 - Miami 2022
#6 - Oregon 2021
#12 - Oregon 2020
#7 - Oregon 2019
#13 - Oregon 2018

But I'm not complaining about his career numbers. And I'm not complaining about Miami's 2024 class in the beginning of July 2023. You are. So do you have any solutions to this problem?

Mario probably lands more of these battles if he doesn’t go 5-7 last season. It’s tough to overcome that regardless the coach. Plus Mario did himself no favors with how putrid the offense was and cleaning his staff out after one season.

None of this is an excuse, Mario shot himself in the foot year 1. Now if he wins and surprises with a team playing more of his guys he can sell his vision better. But I can’t fault a 5 star DT going to play for Larry Johnson & OSU over JT & Miami. Mario has done nothing in Miami to prove he can make these kids pros.
