2024 Race to 300

I could give a **** about the 300. Yes, we want the highest ranked recruits because they have the highest probability of succeeding, but it needs to be a balanced synergistic class which I believe it will be. A&M had the highest ranked class and history.. look what that did
I think the point is that you need both. It’s not enough to just have stars or to say you don’t care about stars because you filled positions of need. Gotta fill those positions, but with high star guys.

Adding Blount would jump the number to 287.2.

Deleting him from FSU's class drops them to 283.0.

Miami would have the #5 class in the country, jumping FSU AND the gator in the process.

Just for a few ***** and the occasional giggle, adding Blount, Jeremiah Smith, and Jordan Lyle gets the number to 298.2.
What about dropping Shavers and Broussard?

Apologies if you already did that

@PennsylvaniaCane was on it

I just checked 247 and there are already 4 teams above 290, which is amazing since only 4 teams ended above 290 in 2023 and 2022 (all 4 were above 300 that year, the next was 289), 5 in 2021 5 in 2020 and 2 in 2019.

Update: I went to the calculator and put the following changes in to get a 295 result. That should keep us in Top 5, but most likely 4 or 5.:
+Lyle, Blount, Hayes, Mincey, Lucas
- Broussard, Rudolph, Riley, Thomas, Shavers

Add a Smith, Stewart and/or Robinson, then we're above 300. Just keep Riley and we're at 299.

p.s. I don't really care about the rankings, but I do care that we land more kids like Scott, Patterson, Trader and Carr.

How much time you got? Lol. Those 2 you mentioned, plus Shavers would be a good start.
The OL aren’t getting dropped. And honestly don’t mind that they are 3 stars. After last year that is kinda expected honestly. Plus I trust our staffs evaluations on OL. Just lost Broussard though.

As far as average is concerned our kicker shouldn’t be included. Shavers seems to already been dropped. Elias Rudolph seems to possibly be an academic casualty.

Russell - seems like he’s not getting dropped, but at this point we are hitting the numbers limits. Even if they do think he will be good, I think 5 Freshman DTs and like 2 transfers is a lot. He should probably go somewhere else.

Isaiah Thomas I could see getting dropped as I also think he’s had injury issues. But he did post that countdown graphic. Day seems to be Guidry guy so is not getting dropped.

So if we had dropped Russell, Rudolph, Thomas, shavers. Landed Blount, Lyle, Mincey, and keep Riley our average would be like 91.55, which would be 5th by average rating.

Has someone credible mentioned thomas being a drop candidate or is it just fan speculation? Wouldn't mind a trade of thomas for mincey and/or lucas

I was playing with the class calculator. I think a midpoint of possible outcomes would be:
We land Blount but not J. Smith,
A. Hayes but not Mincey,
Lyle but not K. Riley,
Lucas but not C. Bailey;
and I. Thomas signs but Rudolph does not.
That would be a final score of 289.94, which should be good for the #5 class in the country.
As you can see, things could be a little better than that or a little worse. But there is reason to be hopeful for a top 5 class.
That said, Cam Ward is arguably the most important get.

I think we actually have an outside shot here.

After the loss of the 2 commits last week, we sit at 278 overall. We seem like we're heavy favorites for at least a couple flips, and possibly several.

In order of likelihood, here is where we can go:

Adding Armondo Blount gets us to 286.
Adding Jordan Lyle gets us to 289.
Adding Xavier Lucas gets us to 290.
Adding Adarius Hayes gets us almost to 295.

And, the big flopping salami, adding Jeremiah Smith gets us to 302.

Let's close.

302 with no Mincey?

Yes but with Smith. Those 4 flips from the kids on campus this past weekend and then the Smith flip gets us over 300.

If we flip those 4 kids but DON'T get Smith, but DO GET Mincey.......the number is.......299.54 LOL

Either way, if things happen how we think they're going to happen, we should have the 4th or 5th ranked class on Wednesday night.

Ahead of FSU by a couple spots and IMO the gator falls to about 15th when they have Filsaime and Hayes bounce.

Im feeling great with that lol

last year losing cormani dropped us from 3 to 7, we'll never truly know the best ranking of these classes until after the fact but that's just something to keep in mind as it shakes out

wasn't happy to lose cormani, but him being 4th-5th string at Colorado and them pulling corners in the portal right now should tell you that sometimes the gap between 3 and 7 isn't as great as many think - especially with the portal nowadays

If FSU loses out on their top 2 current commits it’ll take them out of the current top 10 😏

247 updated their top 247.

Looks like all of our guys already ranked inside the top 247 only moved up or down 5 spots or so, give or take. Except for Lofton. He moved up over 30.

When it comes down to the decimal, these small changes are gonna make a difference.
