10th Coach Announcement 2/8/18

Patke gave us a 50-50 chance with Coburn with about 5 weeks to work with. While that certainly isn’t indicative of whether he’ll be an ace recruiter, it should warrant him a shot. Don’t hate the hire.

How about a non existent resume? At Miami we shouldn’t have to give guys their first shot at on the field spots, it’s getting ridiculous how green this staff is.

Awful hire unless he’s the defensive Hartley. I mean how any grown adults brain could disagree with that is beyond me.

I really hope he turns out to be a stud recruiter and we get lucky. His work with the LBs last year wasn’t exactly impressive either.
 
The only way this makes sense is if this guy is the defensive version of Hartley. The chances of that are probably pretty low.

As we stand right now, this is an extremely lack luster hire. I would've liked to see a guy like Barrrow or a passing game coordinator type.

Disappointing.

This staff is looking like the stock market- trending downwards, quickly.

Honestly, this is just an uninspired move. We can all recognize that while the program doesn't have enough money to go hire away a DC to be the 10th coach, like Ohio State did, there is a middle ground between that and hiring a guy who was a quality control coach on our staff. If we wanted to add a coach for our LBs, there has to be a good coach at a smaller program that has coached LBs before, would be affordable and would jump at the chance to come to Miami. Other than Kul, our position coaches on the defensive side of the ball have all had 0 years of experience as assistants before taking positions on our staff. Mike Rumph is the 2nd most experienced position coach on our defensive staff.

The coaching and development of our players becomes even more important if we're not getting all the guys we want in recruiting, and I'm having a harder time convincing myself that our guys on defense, outside of the DL, are getting the level of coaching we need to be successful.

Is this the end of the world? Of course not, but it's disappointing that we weren't able to add someone to the staff that has proven himself in either coaching or recruiting.

Why would you want a passing game coordinator if your QB can’t make simple throws? Richt believes his system works. Obviously, Malik Rosier isn’t the guy to make it work, so until either Perry or Jarren get a shot and prove Richt right or wrong, he isn’t going to make any changes on offense. You wouldn’t either if you were the head guy in charge and calling plays.

man I get it it's a terrible hire but you all need to stop with the Ohio State thing, they didn't hire Grinch as the 10th coach, they hried him as the DC since Schiano is going to the the Patriots.

Now bring me DVD as QC.
 
If he’s the D version of Hartley then it’s a good hire. If this guy can’t help our defensive recruiting woes then Richt needs to re-evaluate the entire defensive side of the ball.

These dudes are brainless on this board. On here constantly bxtchn about a 10th assistant of the assistant coach position knowing they don't have a fckn clue what a 10th assistant coach even does. He could be somebody to just help manage the scout team for all we know.

No elite head coach or assistant coach is hiring a "10th" assistant coach to constantly 2nd guess their decisions... this board is coked up out of their minds lmaoo
 
ITs official Patke named 10th coach! He better drink some coffee and recruit 18 hours a day, the Defensive coaches need the help, get the man a new cell phones and low mileage car asap. Not pleased but it is what it is!
