10th Coach Announcement 2/8/18

And the special teams were pathetic last year.

And after Herndon we had virtually no TEs on the roster.

He can recruit. What else can he do?

no one wanted todd hartley and he has become a recruiting closer

After giving coach cool a raise last summer and Coach Dugins also got a raise to stay Miami's coaching budget is strained so there wasn't a lot left for a major hire.

Miami needs to do a better job with developing the coaches we have currently. The coaches need to travel around to different schools and learn different techniques and also be open to new ideas.

For instance all of last year on punt returns we hardly let barrios run back a punt yet we never put to 2nd punt returner back there to fake a punt with a decoy. Based on our film tendencies barrios called for a fair catch 95% of the time If we would have done it in the bowl game in the Orange Bowl we would've caught Wisconsin off guard and gotten to returns easily for a touchdown.

Go Canes

If we hire Patke, amateur hour continues at The U.

This!

Assuming for a moment that it is Patke then amateur hour continues at Miami and quite frankly it is this reality that fuels the JV perception that many elite recruits have of us. It almost feels that after the entire Shalala/Golden fiasco the admin got the message from the fan base but did just enough to convince us fans that they(the admin) had done a complete 180 when in reality it was more like a 60 degree move. Don't get me wrong there have been plenty of positive changes that cannot be ignored. The issue is simple however. The UM administration must go all in if we are to become an elite program again and I'm not entirely convinced they are willing to.

What does “go all in” mean? We are amateurs compared to the mega state schools that we are competing against. Look at the recruiting top 10. What do they have in common? Its 8 state schools, ND and us. And ND is a national brand that has every Catholic kid in the country wanting to go there. I find that remarkable, that we are able to do as well as we do.

I love our staff, except we have a bottom of the barrel ST program. I know a few people have a few stats that show how wonderful they were, and I usually look for positive...but aside from coverage, this unit was the worst I’ve seen at Miami...EVER....no kr or PR for TD. Missed clutch extra points, missed clutch FGs, punting was like Jr High calliber, no missed FGs against us all year? Is that a world record? Our KR team was feeble to put it nicely. Can anyone remember a return across mid field? I sure don’t. Normally it would have been better to down it. Evidently there was not one person on staff who had a solution to this unit, so hiring from within would be futile and senseless. Love Richt and staff, but not in regard to ST.

If you want top notch coaching and facilities you need big time donors. Unfortunately, Miami fans or alumni don't dump money into the program like SEC donors do.... so we get a Patke as our 10th coach for $13.50/hr

Please, Richt, for the love of god don't hire Patke.

No **** right?

How are we selling NFL U to recruits when we have 3 defensive coaches w 6 years of coaching experience between them?

Letting Diaz make this move is facking amateur hour move

You aren’t the OC Richt. You’re the head facking coach.

Act like it.

How so you know what UM’s coaching staff budget is?

Richt is giving Diaz way too much control on that side of the ball. He let him bring in Banda, and now, it looks like he’s going to let him bring in Patke, too. Richt is the head man — he needs to be making these big hires, not Diaz. Besides Kul, I really don’t have any faith in anybody on that side of the ball developing players significantly.

You guys claiming Miami doesn't have the money for a 10th coach are naive, stupid, or both. Richt should make a splash hire with Reed or Mallory's dad IMO. Let's unleash the Duval and Louisiana pipeline since the Broward one sucks lol.

Agree, except for the developing players part. Diaz aint that guy, and even tho Patke was already running the lbs, elevating him officially doesnt make us any better on the trail or field.

Right, that’s why I said Kul is the only one who has demonstrated he can develop players. Everyone else — including Diaz himself — is green, unproven.
