This is the situation you pay a HC 8mm for. To use your head, your experience and your gut to make the call at a crucial point. This clown relied on "analytics". Holy ****. I don't have a major problem with the call to kick the FG.

We needed two scores to win and 4th & 9 is low probability.

The game was lost when we didn't run it every play at the goaline until we scored a TD.

We weren't stopping them anyway. We could have stopped runs on 1st and 2nd down and the game would have come down to our **** back 7 stopping a 3rd & 5 pass play (10% chance at best).

This season ended up being the worst possible incarnation of a Mario Cristobal team. Its not like last year where maybe we were thinking 8-4, 9-3 would be a successful season.

Team is obviously flawed from the foundation...coach included...but this this team had nothing but green grass in front of it all year long. This should be an undefeated football team, with a BYE in the CFB Playoff. Questions, for sure...just like every undefeated or one loss Oklahoma team, the Washington team a year ago, etc. There are teams like this every year that manage to not trip on their own ****s until they play an obviously well run organization and they just lose when they are supposed to lose.

We tripped on our own ****. The fact this happened over Thanksgiving is saving us from national embarrassment because no one is paying attention because they are shopping. But Miami blowing a real shot at the playoffs on Saturday after Thanksgiving as a double digit favorite in the middle of the day, after blowing a 3 score lead on said team should lead to massive firings.

D$ is right, you can't blow it over and over again, go 2nd quarter after 2nd quarter where after your scripted plays, fall flat on your face and let teams come back on you after you jump out 21-0...thats on .

Team got worse as the year goes on AGAIN.

We blew a legit Heisman QB and maybe the #1 offense in the nation. Just blew it. We went 10-2 and won't play in a single big game this year. ******* sucks.

This right here encapsulates the level of frustration everyone is feeling and why winning 10 games isn't enough to call this a successful season.

We all expected Ward to be an upgrade over Van Dyke coming into the season, but I would've never guessed that a team led by Cristobal would have the best offensive in College Football. We were all gifted a spectacular season from the offensive unit as a whole, and a QB that made it feel as if this team couldn't just run the table, but should run the table and at least make it to the conference championship game and compete.

Who knows what the roster will look like next season, especially given the unpredictable nature of the portal. But Ward is gone and he isn't a player that can be replaced. This season was a wasted opportunity and knowing there are so many holes to fill well beyond a superstar like Ward brings real feelings of dread moving forward.

So true and so disappointing. You know he’s a dumbbell when he is wanting to know analytics constantly for 2. He is just as dumb as a box of rocks.

Another thought is why would we go and snag a coach Tulane wanted. Tulane is not going anywhere. Neither was the candidate either being that none of the other P5 programs were jumping the fences for them. If you want a championship program you don’t go and pluck from the Mcneese States of the world. That is some sun belt type of s***. You don’t bring in couches which their only strength is somewhat teaching the scheme either. Can they develop? What did they start with? Oh and have they roamed all over. Typical if a coach has roamed it’s probably because they are not quite fitting the roll of development and putting in the hard work for their roles. Players do not take a step back unless the coaching is stepping backwards with them.

Maybe that scenario will light a fire under Mario’s *** and make him realize it’s time to raise our standards on kids we are taking.

But isn’t he already selling that he has raised the bar? His first two classes ranked 7 and 4. I think the issue here is evals and development. Although it’s not early, he probably needs another year to see the full picture there, but what I’m seeing at the moment isn’t great. If the issue is evals, then he would need to recognize he isn’t it and bring in people that can elevate that part, but the problem is that if Mario isn’t recruiting and evaluating to the level needed, talent acquisition, then what exactly is his value here?

Is Jacolby George out of eligibility? His antics last year led me to believe he would have been off the team for 2024. I know I am in the minority here but I don't want to see us in a playoff game. We have mostly played on the ACC Network which is garbage in itself. But this is a nationally televised game and we will get punched up and down the field for all to see.

A poster last week (Which I agreed with), said we would be better next year. Cam was that bridge. I still believe we will be better. Dawson will take a head coaching job somewhere and I think we will rely on a more run heavy offense with a game manager at QB. We have the best backs in America. The offensive line will be much better also.

I have to believe the defense will be also. I hope we spend our money on quality DBs instead of a QB. Their isn't a Cam Ward out there. Run the ball and play good defense. I still think Guidry is a decent coach. Mario keeps talking about "Executing". We don't have the players to execute the game plan. That is where the change will take place.

I know you have to adjust at half time. But you still have to have the players. OJF will be very good. Brown will be back healthy. Get rid of Harris and a couple others and were good here. I said we would win 10 games. We improved on the win mark year over year. I sill believe we are on the right track. This program was and kind of still is, in fix it mode.

Mario is here to stay, so it's not like complaining is an option. Terrific season reading all of the posters here. Canes Insight is the funniest and most knowledgeable site for Canes football anywhere. I love being on it and reading all of you guys who post on the site.

I don't see it that way. We won 7 games in 2023 with our QB effectively throwing the games. It's hard to be bad with a good OL.

Now, will we have as good of an opportunity as we had this year? That's what hurts.

A good OL is neutralized if the guy behind them doesn't scare a defense. Yes, it is the building block of a great offense but can't do so on its own. Earlier this year, Miami couldn't run the ball at all against stacked boxes, even against bad teams. That would happen again if the QB doesn't warrant them keeping the safeties back. You also need to find a center. 2 year in a row this staff needed to pull a C from the portal. Maybe Alofaituli is that guy, but it's a lot to ask of a freshman to play C and make the calls.

Plus, you start losing some of the guys on that Dline, possibly the only unit with NFL talent on D. What happens to the worst defense in recent memory next year when some of those guys are gone? The Oline next year will not be better than this year.....and yet that OLine and run game didn't stop this team from blowing a 21-0 lead.

Guidry didn’t adjust one time when Cuse was abusing Miami in man coverage. Didn’t roll the safeties or anything. That alone should have been a fireable offense. But the defense looks completely unprepared and makes me wonder do they even practice. That’s how bad the defense looks

The defense has to be getting completely abused in our practices with Cam and company. Every week they are letting opposing sub-par offenses set records.
Nobody tackles well…DBs are getting burned. LB are slow. DE can never set the edge.
I’ve watched every game this year and teams consistently won at 3rd and long. Embarrassing to even call it a “defense”.

Our OL will still have: Bell, McCoy, Rodriguez, Cooper & Mauigoa at minimum so I have faith in the OL

At DL we will return: Bain, Lightfoot, Blount, Pickett, Bryant, Horton, Scott, Jones + Adding Lowe & Scroggins

LB we will return: Pruitt, Hayes, Aguirre, Bissainthe, Washington and add Nix & Possibly Alford/Wiley

At DB we return: Williams, Patterson, Frederique, Brown, Hill, Day, Thomas, Mack, Stafford & add Stubbs, Fitzgerald, Ewald & Antione + Pickett/Hanks POSSIBLY

At WR we return: Horton (?), Trader, Carr, Robinson, Joseph + Moore/Upshaw & POSSIBLY D Wilson

TE we return: Lofton, Williams, Carver + adding Schott/Gilbert

RB we return: Lyle, Fletcher, C Johnson, Wheatley-Humphrey (doubt Allen stays) & we add G. Pringle

Depending on our portal hall/flips we will have a younger but still very talented team. Last year at this time 2024 didn’t look so great. If Mario can add: 1 WR, 1 OL, 2 DTs, 1 DE, 2 Safety, 1 CB, 1 RB for depth and can get a proven QB then we are cooking
