You only get so many chances

It’s a cop out. I think it allows coaches to blame others.

Georgia going for 2 so early against Tech…football people said WTF and we’re correct.

I would have been laughing my *** off on the sideline!!!! “Hey Coach CaneDawgCrew analytics say take the 3 and we hold them and then win with a TD” and he be so excited…I then say “hey you stupid SOB those aren’t little bullet holes from a 22 in our defense them are holes caused by mortar shells we can stop **** and will never see the ball again we going for it”

I would have called 2 time outs…the first to fire Guidry and the second to design a play for Cam
It 100 percent is a built in excuse. For every coaching decision just say “ analytics said”. **** analytics .

Another thought is why would we go and snag a coach Tulane wanted. Tulane is not going anywhere. Neither was the candidate either being that none of the other P5 programs were jumping the fences for them. If you want a championship program you don’t go and pluck from the Mcneese States of the world. That is some sun belt type of s***. You don’t bring in couches which their only strength is somewhat teaching the scheme either. Can they develop? What did they start with? Oh and have they roamed all over. Typical if a coach has roamed it’s probably because they are not quite fitting the roll of development andEv putting in the hard work for their roles. Players do not take a step back unless the coaching is stepping backwards with them.

Anyone with two brain cells and working eyeballs could see our defense couldn’t stop a HS offense yesterday; and yet, I’m supposed to believe were have a better chance to stop them for the first time all half (besides the fluke turnover), then convert a 4th and 9 with our offense?

Caveman decision. Undid all his good decision-making on 4th downs with one fatal blow.

Yeah it’s almost not even worth it because even if we score a TD we just sit back and watch them drive down and win anyway

At the very minimum if we didn’t get the TD we’ve got them pinned back and a fluke stop gives us a chance. Resetting the game and kicking it off is just so asinine

Our OL will still have: Bell, McCoy, Rodriguez, Cooper & Mauigoa at minimum so I have faith in the OL

At DL we will return: Bain, Lightfoot, Blount, Pickett, Bryant, Horton, Scott, Jones + Adding Lowe & Scroggins

LB we will return: Pruitt, Hayes, Aguirre, Bissainthe, Washington and add Nix & Possibly Alford/Wiley

At DB we return: Williams, Patterson, Frederique, Brown, Hill, Day, Thomas, Mack, Stafford & add Stubbs, Fitzgerald, Ewald & Antione + Pickett/Hanks POSSIBLY

At WR we return: Horton (?), Trader, Carr, Robinson, Joseph + Moore/Upshaw & POSSIBLY D Wilson

TE we return: Lofton, Williams, Carver + adding Schott/Gilbert

RB we return: Lyle, Fletcher, C Johnson, Wheatley-Humphrey (doubt Allen stays) & we add G. Pringle

Depending on our portal hall/flips we will have a younger but still very talented team. Last year at this time 2024 didn’t look so great. If Mario can add: 1 WR, 1 OL, 2 DTs, 1 DE, 2 Safety, 1 CB, 1 RB for depth and can get a proven QB then we are cooking

just get George/Harris TF outta here
You have ND week 1 and UF week 4. Are you expecting freshmen and sophomores to be as ready and game tested as this Dline should have been this year? Are you expecting this team to score as many points next year as this year, allowing for breakdowns and growing pains with the young talent? I'm not....and that's my concern.

The names and talent are there....at least in terms of recruiting ratings. But they have yet to prove anything. QB/WR will take a significant step back and i struggle to see the D taking a big enough leap to offset those losses. The chance for a special season was this year and this staff/team let it slip through their fingers.

I was not a fan, there were issues last year with communication and alignment. The guys have regressed even more in his year two. I see this more as a coaching/teaching problem. The safeties look confused and the corners are lost as well. Too much thinking and a lot less playing. The Db coach was solely brought in for scheme purposes. There has not been much development. Wasn’t a fan of that hire either. That was disaster of a decision. Not everything can be thrown on the athletes. That excuse can only be used so much. I can say I’am extremely shocked with Mario being apart of Saban’s tree that he is accepting this. Mario needs to be Oregon Mario, bama Mario. Right now it just looks like paycheck Mario

I will say it would be funny if we some how slip into the playoffs and one of the reasons is getting those 3 pts and only losing by 4 instead of 7, which would have made our combined loss total in double digits (12) instead of 9. Mario the savant thinking 5 steps ahead…. Checkers not chess…lol

As a teacher myself, you have to create an environment to cultivate leaders. We had a leadership problem last season offensively. Tyler was NOT a leader. Good ball player, but not a good leader. We are in an era of Miami football that us 35 plus years of fandom people are not used to. There’s been a lack of leadership from our players for the past 15-20 years. We don’t really have kids that get into people’s faces to keep each other accountable. We don’t have to have Ed Reed, but we need upperclassmen and kids who work hard, watch film consistently, and play good ball on Saturdays to bring other kids with them. That’s called a winning culture and we, unfortunately, don’t really have that. Good talent, but not really a winning culture yet. Hopefully, we will. But, it’s really hard to see it right now. Only two double digit winning seasons in the last 10 years….5-7, 7-6, 10-2 for now…Our coaching leaves a LOT to be desired and I usually don’t rag on coaches, but I’ve seen enough football to know that something ain’t right down in the Gables. If Brent Key can have his team constantly prepared and in ball games with inferior talent, what are we doing?
There was a first class leader on offense this season in Cam Ward. Every guy on the team was exposed to him on a daily basis. Restrepo was a leader in another way. Mark Fletcher , in the way he handled his own personal tragedy, was a leader in another. We should have seen the red flags all season when no one visibly stood out on defense as the mirror image of Cam Ward. Not a single guy - Does anyone actually recall Mario (or Guidry) talking about a defensive player the way they talked about Cam? I think it's a big part of the problems on defense. There were more than enough senior transfers , with experience at other school with other coaches, for someone to step up. These are the kind of guys you need when things are going good, too. Someone to help keep the young guys grounded and teach them how to win.

Watching that game yesterday, I don't think the guys on defense wanted to win as badly as Cam and the offense......
I've wondered all season if the defensive players are as frustrated as the fans with the scheme, playing out of their natural position, etc... maybe they just stopped fighting it..

BTW, Brent Key is a good example. He has done more with less and now he is reaping the rewards with better players being interested.

ND & UF will also lose players just like we will. We have home field advantage and I trust Marios talent acquisition over Freeman & Napier lol both are corches just like Mario

Mario needs to put a little more effort in recruiting the Mobile,al, Jackson,Al, and most importantly Saraland high. There are kids there that are extremely talented in the mold of Pruitt that would have interest in Miami. Kids are football smart and have a fight to be winners. They just have to show up and fight for them, which they don’t.

The culture in the defensive room is bad IMO, and there are no leaders. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Idk if it’s just effort, IQ or overall more talented but in the short time Pruitt was on the field he stood out amongst everybody. Dude was flying around like a mad man

Defense definitely checked out. No juice. Nobody looked like they were having any fun. In a game like that with an ACC title and CFP birth on the line, even if the X’s and O’s are trash physical talents, will and intensity should be able to keep it interesting. We had none of that, on top of the scheme being trash. That points to the guys being totally checked out on the coaching staff. That cannot happen

Having slow feet Won’t change much as a tackle dmoney. Maybe try him at guard
And he would be too tall for guard, QB wouldn't see over him.

I think he needs to lose weight to even marginally get better.

I don't think he's it in my personal opinion, though Maybe in the pros if someone wants to take a Flyer on him because you can'tteach 6'9". TBH, I think his future is NXT/WWE, should get an NIL with HHH, try to improve and explore his options outside of being a starting LT. That's just me.

Cam Ward Campaigns For Hurricanes Spot In College Football Playoff

Cam Ward said after the 42-38 loss to Syracuse, the College Football Playoff selection committee should give the 10-win Hurricanes an at-large spot in the tournament.
“If they knew what was up, they’d put us in the playoff,” Ward said. “We are that team. It’s not in our hands anymore, but I mean, just go look at the stats. We’re that team. Every winner’s got to lose someday. If we get a chance to go in the playoff, we’re going to make the most of it. We don’t care if we’re a top-eight seed or we’re a 12 seed. The playoffs is anybody’s chance. We just hope we can get a shot.”
They let Cam down.
