You only get so many chances

Best case scenario is worst case scenario IMO. That’s probably the 11 or 12 seed and the only possibility is being ahead of the Big 12 champ.

That means you’re going to ND or Penn State in mid December,

This team is getting run out of the building on National television, in the freezing cold, in front of a crazy atmosphere, to teams that will get boat raced down the line and aren’t even good.

Let the embarrassment end now and save some dignity.
I might be delusional but I don’t see that happening. Not saying we’d win, but getting boat races would thoroughly surprise me with how good this offense is.

we get boat raced bc ND or PSUs D can do enough to limit us. our OL struggled with pressure.

we cant stop their offense especially when they have talent on that side of the ball. we got beat down on defense by average to below average teams.

on top of that, we dont play well in conditions.

Now this is also true. I’ll give him credit for that - he did hit on Dawson and got Cam. Two big steps in the right direction regarding his stereotypes on offense.

And I do think once in a blue moon, he’ll get a good DC…third time’s the charm?

But what worries me most is the holes on the roster that are reoccurring issues, the poor evaluations in those rooms, and the lack of development in those rooms. And that’s supposed to be his forte, what he’s known for and what he’s paid for.

Year 3, I’m underwhelmed to date.
i agree the only push back I got is the holes on defense…the man has recruited top talent on all levels except DB…other coaches must carry their weight at the same time he hired those coaches so lol

I don't see a QB as special as Cam entering the portal this year...without Cam we are likely 6-6 this year.

We need wholesale upheaval on the defensive staff and I pray to God that these recruiting/portal evals start hitting
We don't need a Cam every year. Other teams win all the time with mediocre QB's. Fix the D. Get a leader at Qb. Hope for the best.

lol getting a game manager isnt the way. cam saved our *** all year long. you need a guy with arm talent and physical talent. we literally had to have the best offense in the country to get to this point. it covered up so much. the d isnt getting fixed short of 20 mill infusion again on one side of the ball.

We can run on anyone. It’s hard to be subjective but we do have a very good line. I watched PSU against MN, and PSU did not look very impressive against them. ND could be problematic but I don’t think it would be a blow out. We’d probably lose 34-24 or 34-30. Something like that.

I don't see it that way. We won 7 games in 2023 with our QB effectively throwing the games. It's hard to be bad with a good OL.

Now, will we have as good of an opportunity as we had this year? That's what hurts.
Are we really gonna squabble over predictions of 6 wins, 8 wins, whatever next year? We can’t even win a ****** ACC, ever!

Bottom line, great coached teams do more with less. Their teams improve as the season goes on. Can you say that about us? Do we ever punch above our pay grade?

We squeak by teams we should crush and we lose to teams we are better than. Wash, rinse repeat. We make stupid coaching moves, stupid penalties and don’t out-game plan anyone! Can anyone tell me that will miraculously change ?

Honest question, what is the point of these post-mortem writeups that you do in which you basically state the obvious sprinkled in with downright silly pie-in-the-sky foolery? Do people actually pay you for this? There is no progress. They are 10-2 with a weak schedule. They proved the critics right. They are a fraud. This is 2017 all over again and we will regress to 7-5 next year with Notre Dame, Florida, SMU on the schedule and most importantly, no Cameron Ward. We're going nowhere. I told you what it was after Georgia Tech that we would lose today. They are not prepared. They never will be with a Grunt like Mario at the helm. He lacks intelligence. He's a recruiter and even then he cannot recruit elite secondary players after three years..
His explanation using analytics to go for 3 @ 3:41 left in the game down 7 was another low IQ move from this Nucklehead Mario. GT all over again. Why would he not put the ball in Cams hands for a shot?

I didn’t adhere to the one thing I try and do during Cane football this year.

When it comes to Cane football Never expect anything good and you’ll never be disappointed but if good things do happen by chance you can celebrate the success.

That way you’re never disappointed but can occasionally be happy.
I put my Canes flag up for game. Didn’t stay up long. XMAS flag back.

Name the 4 L ? We’re not losing to the gators or FSU . ND maybe , y’all need to get off Lagway nuts . 135 yards tonight 2td 1 interception isn’t something that puts you in that elite category.

Pitt on Road, SMU on Road, VT on Road, plus you gave me ND too, so there is your four. Want Five? USF has beaten Miami at home, L'ville will be looking to return the favor...Sorry, that is six. No real LBs, Brown can't catch, George is a walking Personal Foul, Williams barely played (Portal QB? Who?) the secondary is a sieve, the DTs are out of shape with another year of college food....Should I go on?

Maybe that scenario will light a fire under Mario’s *** and make him realize it’s time to raise our standards on kids we are taking.

I was done with Mario after Ga Tech last year. I gave him a pass for 2022 but last year I was done. I knew he’d find a way to lose a game or two this year.
It really does boil down to Mario. He is a low IQ coach. There’s no way to sugar coat his disaster. We can blame our junior varsity players but it’s the top guy’s responsibility. Not giving Cam a chance to tie the game and going for a useless 3 blaming analytics tells me this Nucklehead will never 👎 improve mentally. When you have a low IQ you have a low IQ.

they need a center who can run the blocking scheme they way THEY want, not the way he can. They missed Matt Lee something awful this season.
We had a top 10 avg yards per rush this season.

Out of all of the things to complain about you pick out about #27

This one hurts deep in the soul. We had a chance for a special season and blew it. Every November feels the same for the past 20 years.

I'll dig deeper on rewatch, but my big picture view is this: Miami fell to its true level. We won games we could've lost, and we lost games we could've won. At the end, we were who we were all year.

We have a national championship offense. We have a bad defense. And we lack discipline overall. We came into this game ranked 120th in penalty yards per game. With the season on the line, we made two of the most immature penalties in team history. That was not a fluke.

Add it all up, and you get 10-2. Do I expect major defensive staff changes? Yes. But that isn't the only area we need to improve.

Mario ultimately owns all of it. He missed a rare opportunity. Now, the ownership cuts both ways- you can't blame him for the defensive misses and then ignore the strength of the offense. We were blessed to have Cam Ward, but he also landed Cam Ward and built his supporting cast. The question now becomes whether we can improve elsewhere enough to compensate for the loss of such a unique and special player.

This season will be remembered one of two ways: the beginning of something sustainable, or a fun, ultimately disappointing fluke like 2017. For true progress, this team needs to remake its defensive identity. You can fire coaches and recruit better DBs. But when you get bowled over by an Arena League running back with the season on the line, that's a cultural issue. When you look confused all year, it's deeper than talent. We had four NFL players in the 2022 secondary, and we looked just as lost as we did this year.

Was there progress? Of course. Should anyone expect us to build on that progress? That's a hard sell. The fanbase has every reason to be cynical. But none of us are going anywhere, so let's hope the build continues and we have enough material to tell lies this summer.

We lost a great opportunity wasted so much talent.
Loss of talent next year
Ward
Martinez
X
George
Arroyo
carpenter
rivers
Mesidor
Barrow
Barron
kiko
Powell
Porter
Borragales

That is just the starters that doesn’t include other to leave in the portal. Mario has his work cut out for him.

I’m a Cane for life and will never stop bleeding Orange and Green but this one hurt!
