Yearby

Coley's (reported) early evaluations have me a bit worried.

As Bill Simmons said in ref to D'antoni, if Clark is better/more efficient in their offense than Gasol, you're running the wrong offense.

Don't think Yearby is a top 5 back in SoFla. He's good but not worth a scholly.

Not worth an offer? Sounds legit.

/Negged.

:31 second mark.

He breaks '6' and then '6' gets POPPED. Loved seeing that.

I hope that was Trevor Darling, and if so, it wont be the last time he cracks that traitor

#53 for Central.. Anyone have any idea is that is Darling?

Edit: Don't think it was, #53 was the LG

Would normally agree but Yearby is no Clark. Yearby is a stud in his own right.

Everyone decided he wasn't worth an offer because he committed to FSU, not because he can't play. He dropped off a bit because defenses keyed toward him. He is not as good as Cook, in my opinion, but he is still pretty damned good. Who wouldn't take Devonta Freeman on our team right now? Anyone?

Devonta Freeman was better in HS than Yearby is now. I remember watching his games at Central wondering how we let FSU beat us to the punch with him.

Freeman barely even played until his senior year so I don't know how that shows he is better. Yearby is a better back than Freeman.

Yearby DOES HAVE BETER FEET...COOK is more explosive...

Yearbyu fell off??..NAW...dude was playing qb some this year and throwing tds

When you watch Yearby you go "nice."
When you watch Cook, it's "holy shiit!!!"
Like when you watched Duke's Senior film....holy shiit!!!

Actually, I agree with canes33. We shouldn't go after Yearby.

I've been on the Cook over Yearby bandwagon for more than a year, but after watching them this season I don't think they're even on the same planet. The film makes it pretty obvious, IMO, but let's just look at the numbers:

Dalvin Cook-127 carries, 1,452 yards (11.4 ypc), 21 TDs
Joe Yearby- 212 carries, 1,448 yards (6.8 ypc), 20 TDs

My problem with Yearby is that I don't see one skill that will carry him on the next level. He's too small to be a power back, too slow to be a dynamic back and too slight to be a Gio Bernard-type back. He's a great high school runner with vision and feet, but I don't see stardom at the college level. If he goes to Miami or FSU he'll probably end up transferring to an FCS-school.

I know for a fact that Miami's plan before Coley got here was to go after Sony and Cook. One coach who saw Cook against Naples compared him to Adrian Peterson (not in terms of style, but talent). Coley's arrival may have changed things. I've heard and read that he's close to Yearby's mentor. But if we're talking ability, I just can't see any argument for Yearby over Cook and Michel.

Weird.

I hope Coley isn't making these calls. If he's enamored with Yearby, I'm gonna mark it down as a "skeptical" data point.

I think Yearby can do a few things, but I project him to be a lot like what we saw of Karim Abdul-Jabbar during his time with the Phins.

Dmoney, I respect you as a poster because you seem like an ole school cane fan so im shocked you would be against accepting Yearbys commitment. I hear you. I was really disappointed in his junior campaign. I dont care if he was splitting carries. But if we strike out on Sony and Cook you wouldnt accept him if he wanted in? This isnt a Daryl Chestnut situation IMO.

I like Yearby but for ***** sake if Coley is serious then LuCane was absolutely right!

Get him out before its too late.
