Yearby

You want a story? Yearby fumbled late against Virginia after already having his carries limited. He isn't nearly the pass blocker that Walton and Gus are. We moved to keeping a back in more and sometimes a TE to help the OL. Two areas where a RB needs to be trusted. Ball security and pass protection. I don't think Yearby is a fumbler but when you're asked to close out the game and you cough it up coaches take away your carries.

His coaches, who have coached multiple elite backs, say Walton is better. So do the stats.

You guys know better, though. LOL

It's all a conspiracy.

Captain Stat to the rescue!!!!

Let's compare stats of both RB's when they've been the feature back.

Yearby in 2015
205 carries for 1,002 yards (4.9 YPC)
He had a whopping THREE hundred yard games...against FAU, Nebraska and Cincinnati (who allowed nearly 200 YPG in 2015).
He didn't have another hundred yard game for the rest of the season.

Walton in 2016
209 carries for 1,117 yards (5.3 YPC)
He had SIX hundred yard games...against FAMU, FAU, App State, Pitt, Virginia and one of the best run defenses in the country at NC State.
Late in the season he ran for over 100 yards against three straight ACC opponents, two of which (Pitt & NC State) were top-5 in rushing defense.

THE **** ARE YOU GUYS SMOKING?!?!?!?!?

And then he goes up against WV with a 21 point cushion and still can only muster 2.0 ypc; 31 for 65 yrds, 0 TD's; 2 yds rec; 0 first downs entire first half. Couldn't carry this team and they gave him every opportunity to shine!!!!

I call BS!!! He carried this team the entire 2015 season with no problem fumbling or pass protecting. Turn your fog lights on so that you can see that they are blinding you from the real truth!!!

This dude is still talking about the WVU game. Holy ****. Lmao

Bro, if you're gonna keep citing that one game then I can go through a plethora of Yearby games where he didn't "carry the team".
You really wanna go there?

It's funny to see there is so much passion for either one of these guys being so drastically better than the other one.

I think they're both good backs and are in the top half of the ACC. They aren't the elite but they are very good.

I think Walton has shown himself to be better overall, but neither of them shows tremendous vision or patience.

They both had to deal with an OL that would get whooped too often, i.e. the RAB.

I am not entirely sure what led Yearby to basically lose carries to Edwards, who I don't think very much of to be honest. He is a hard worker and a bigger back but that's about it. It's not like he became some bruising force that couldn't be contained.

Perhaps Yearby's intentions to leave early worked against him.

There were times where Yearby showed he can be effective, or Walton didn't show he was clearly more effective. I would have liked to have seen him get some more carries down the stretch, but we won 5 in a row, so whatever.

All he did was pick up two big first downs to kill 3 more minutes off the clock that we turned into obvious run situations because we weren't gonna throw the ball. Breaking tackles along the way.

Tough to do that when you get the minority proportion of carries. I love Walton, and I think Gus is at least a better blocker, but Yearby's vision and ability to make something out of nothing will be missed. He should have got more burn towards the end of the year.

He's talking about last year when he "carried the team". He didn't have a 100 yard game vs an ACC opponent last year.

And Yearby moved the chains in every game he entered. If a RB cannot move the chains you have nothing!!! If a RB gets 17 carries in the first half and still cannot move the chains as your featured back he is a bust on any team!!!

Bro, I'm done with you. You're either trolling are flat-out retarded.

"He moved the chains in every game he entered."
"Nobody game planned to stop Walton."
"Yearby carried the entire team."

Holy fvck! lmao

Now you are starting to get it. You guys are insisting on turning this into a Walton vs Yearby debate. We stated from the jump that we were more interested in the story behind the demotion of Yearby to the third RB on the depth chart when it is clear as day Walton and Gus combo does not give the running game the best chances of success!

From somebody on the outside looking in.... Greg Mcelroy claimed that Walton was the most underrated rb in college football. Just think about that. He even compared Walton to Cook.

Yeah, think about that for a second..... Cook, really? Now the question is do you agree with the comparison?

I can agree with you on this, and it was kind of odd to not see Yearby get the ball more, but Walton is the clear leader on this team. Did you see that hit Walton had on special teams... Maybe Yearby should've played more on special teams like Homer and Walton.

Asking for negativity the day after a bowl win is being a douche. We won the last 5 games. Running back selection didn't seem to bite us in those games.
