Coaching is more than X's and O's. The Jimmies and the Joes can make up for some bad coaching but remember Howard said the ONTY thing keeping Miami from being great was coaching! He knew we always had talent, just suckie coaching. Coker lost once he only had 20 or so 1st round draft picks left on the team. JJ got outcoached twice when he had the better Jimmies and Joes by Johnny Majors and Joe Pa. Coaching matters.

Take into account that football games and football teams are not played or composed in a sterile science lab. Start with that, and you'll be much better off and look a lot smarter.

Do you think it's possible uf.ag quit on the season and that, at this point, it has very little to do with talent? That's a completely demoralized team. When teams get the ball run down their throats by inferior teams it's a really great sign that they quit. Remember Puke running it down our throats last week? Same thing.

Is anyone actually trying to advance the c0ckamamie argument that GA Southern has more talent or even close to the same talent as uf.ag? Does anyone think they're even in the same hemisphere talent wise? Is that what this board has degenerated to?

Good Lord, nobody discounts that talent is important, are you serious? The OP used them as an example in comparison to what happened to us, but the part he missed is that throughout this whole season, outside of the Mizzou and GS games, their defense has held up very very well. They lost a bunch of players and still fielded a stout defense, outside the this week....
If our defense only had a 500 yd meltdown every so often, it wont be that major of a concern, but we do it all the time.

Right and the talent level is being improved in this class, and posters such as myself are now concentrating on the other part of the problem, which happens to be what we are talking about now. When I make statements against the scheme/coaching, I am not in any way dismissing the fact that the talent is adequate, but that it still should perform better than it has.

Just because we dont have elite talent doesnt mean expecting the defense to perform at a mediocre level is outrageous. Do you truly believe that the defense performed up to what they were capable of this year?

To answer the OP, it is both.

Franchise's post is strong. There isn't a single player on Georgia Southern that could even walk on at UF. Put any of the linemen in an Oklahoma Drill and there isn't a single Georgia Southern player that would win a single battle. But, there are other factors at hand. When you have a team that has quit or doesn't give a **** (look at Oregon today versus Arizona), **** like today happens, especially when you combine it with other factors, like, in our case, having a defensive scheme that doesn't suit the players we have or have at our disposal to recruit (square peg, round hole in most cases).

It is rarely one thing when you have complete breakdowns like UF is having, or we have had on defense for two seasons now.
