WR Class

Is Wilson 1 of the 2 georgia players transfering you said were to miami with the DB,or is it someone else.

Wilson is definite and a DB, but there even today reports of several other transfers, not sure who are where they are going.

If Wilson couldn't start at uga with the receivers they have at uga then what makes you think we want him here?

Just wait and see how quick Richt offers him.

Dawgcan, can you tell us a little about him.Speed, size,do you think he can be a starter for miami next season and why didn't it workout for him at Georgia.

6-1 210 average speed, more of a slot receiver. Tough kid, good blocker, was hurt this year early on and got to far behind to earn PT. Was used prior year in run game primarily as a cutback blocker on bigger OLB, probably not utilized by the **** poor offensive staff Kirby hired. Feel strongly Richt will take him for depth next year.

If Rick takes him that'll mean he failed badly at recruiting WRs in 2018.

Chise,he's talking about taking him this fall and play next season but after reading what Dowgcane wrote I'd be really disapointed if Richt can't find a much better JC WR.

Flat out miss by the staff with regard to WR class. Dugans recruiting has not lived up to the hype so far.

People need to stop with the Dugans recruiting non-sense. This was a light class at WR in South Fla and we didn't land the elite guy, because we were late to the game (not Dugans fault). Last year we signed 3 elite recruits, one of them being the best freshmen WR in the country. It is not his fault that Bruce was immature.

Oh yeah, totally a light class. We only had two of the top 5 wide receivers in America right here in Broward. (Jeudy and Grimes).

Such a down year

Yes, we missed Jeudy. Grimes has been going to Ohio St to before Richt was hired.

I doubt they'd release him to Miami so he'd probably have to do a JUCO season. With this dude though they probably wouldn't care and would give him a full release. He's a low level WR.

No more JAG's or projects please!

Richards
Berrios
Cager
Harris
Mullins
Harley
Njoku
Langham

Here are a few more options if we need WR's I don't want us to add anymore JAGs to this class.

Dallas
Gray
D. Smith

I wouldn't reach for another JAG.

Not ideal at all but take Njoku and Harley, call it a day.

We need dudes to play, so leaving it at 2 isn't a great option. It's not ideal, but go out and find a fast guy and hope you can teach him to catch, or a slow guy who can catch. Never know when one of these guys will pan out, and we've got plenty of room on the team.

We shouldnt over sign, why should we sign dudes just for numbers? Im cool with just njoku and harley then go all out next year on pope, xavier, etc (hopefully not strike out again) sign them two get a grad transfer or two and call it a day on wideouts

1. We are well bellow 85 players, and alarmingly thin at WR. We need depth.
2. We literally say that every year. Don't take too many, next year is the big year.

Taking 4 WR this year shouldn't leave us without spots next year. And besides, when was the last time we turned away some star player because we had too many JAGS?

Heres the thing though these star players wanna play early and they look at depth charts, it dont matter how different talent is they see it and get turned away

Also you sign some JAGS they stuck on your team and thats a roster spot you cant have back

A massive fail at WR is an understatement. There is no excuse that can explain Richt and staff striking out on so many WR's.

Another fail is not being after Quantino Allen, Carmoni Green, etc. and waiting so long to offer Mike Harley. This WR class is smelling like an Alfredo Golden **** sandwich.

If you look at his history, Mark Richt has always struggled recruiting WR. AJ Green is a big one, of course, but for the most part he fared terribly at WR.

He loved recruiting big white kids at WR at Georgia. In S. Fla. there are simply too many elite athletes for him to continuously fare this poorly, but it's not the position he excels at by any means.

I went ahead and looked back at his recruiting classes going back to 2009 and you're right - usually small numbers of WRs (he seemed to prefer "athletes") and the WRs he did sign were usually averaged 3 star types.

Anyhow, at the end of the day, if we end up with Harley and Njoku (who was already in the bag well before richt got here), huge disappointment.

Darrian Felix is an interesting slot option. People were raving about this kid's ability in the open field before the summer. What happened?

Miami should never be lacking at the skill position, it's maddening

I wouldn't call Richards, Cager, Mullins, Dallas, Njoku and hopefully Harley "lacking". Even D Harris has a role. We can win the ACC and go to the Championships with that WR corps.

But I agree with your implication that we should be more stacked given all the So FL talent we see at WR every year. We got Coley and Richards, which IMO were the two best coming out in their classes. But we whiffed in other years, and whiffed on this year's top 2, Jeudy and Grimes. All the more reason we MUST get Pope next year and start a trend of landing at least 1 of the top 2 every year going forward.

ND transfer
Torrance Gibson
I'm sure we will see other transfer/grad transfer kids

We have to get at least three kids and a fourth transfer that can play this year.

In truth, that's a pretty average WR group- especially when considering age. Putting together a depth chart and assigning colors for All-Conference, Above-Average Starter etc. shows WR to be the second worst position on the team, and that's only saved by Richards and him being a soph.

I think Cager is a below-average ACC starter.

I call it the David Kintigh effect.

I'm not saying it's top notch. I'm saying it's not "lacking". Difference. And we still need a grad transfer or Juco WR even if Harley comes. But IMO, we're not going to lose games because of that squad if Mullins can get it together and Kaaya comes back.
