WR Class

If you look at his history, Mark Richt has always struggled recruiting WR. AJ Green is a big one, of course, but for the most part he fared terribly at WR.

He loved recruiting big white kids at WR at Georgia. In S. Fla. there are simply too many elite athletes for him to continuously fare this poorly, but it's not the position he excels at by any means.

I said this in another thread and got clowned on by idiots. WR for Richt was never a huge position. He is great at RB and defense. Dugans will have to carry the recruiting for the WR position.

Not trying to argue with you on this statement, but there are 6 WR on NFL rosters that Richt coached at Ga. Would think that is more than most schools have.

Njoku still out here taking visits also. So as of right now we have zero WR solidly committed WR haha wow. Should be an interesting finish to this class.

In most threads since the Jeudy announcement we were all talking about getting elite guys. AJ is the only elite WR I can think of.

It blows my mind. How much of a difficult time our staff is having picking talent at the WR spot. With literally hundreds of Highschool's in miami alone and plenty of talent in So. Florida for everyone and you can't grab solid receivers in this class? Come on bro! Frustrated & baffled.

I guess what bothers me is simple. AR had an amazing freshman year. How much more proof would a potential elite level WR need that Miami will play the best players and the is a chance to make an immediate impact. I know that is not everything but not much else the staff could do on that end.

We need to win dude. Every receiver in the country isnt going to fight over each other to get here just because AR had a freshman all american season. Thats the way we want it to be, but recruits dont give a dam unless you got wins and primetime exposure to back it up. End of the day, were not even ranked. Some kids stay loyal to the hometown, some kids come because of our past, but were not going to be the recruiting champs until we start winning.

Richt acknowledged we need speed at the wideout spot. We literally have hundreds of ghetto fast motha****ers in miami. **** I've seen crackheads in miami sprinting down the street easily doing 4.3 and our staff can't find one? Judy, Grimika & Harley gnarley aren't the only receivers out there. Keep chasing these hoes you gonna get the clap.

dont care what is being said now...but in the spring abunch of members on this site..brought up the fact that richt said we needed speed...yet offered rodney scott and Dingle. Months later we have both decommiot and coach is saying were looking for speed. Sh*t not adding up...im questioning their wr recruiting in the last two classes full throttle. Im a Dingle fan....but like i said folks on the board call this out when the offers went out..how the f he aint know they werent speed guys then when offered?

Did Richt offer these kids or did he accept their commitment based off of the previous staffs eval/offer?

Not only him gogeta4 but why isn't Dugans stepping in and not allowing this to happen.

Yup, something just isn't right here. Id love to hear the explanation here, but on face value it shows incompetence. They had no idea of the players they were taking commitments from. Also if they were counting on Holloman and Smith that is also troubling because they got played, and Richt after spending 15 years in the ACC and a decade as FSU's OC should know fvckin better.

They were offered by Golden.

Scott's timeline:

November 2014 -- Offered

August 2015 -- Unofficial visit
October 2015 -- Golden fired
February 2016 -- Attended Junior Day
March 2016 -- Committed
April 2016 -- Visited by Manny Diaz and Thomas Brown
July 2016 -- Attended Paradise Camp
August 2016 -- Decommitted
September 2016 -- Unofficial visit

Dingle's timeline:

February 2015 -- Offered
August 2015 -- Unofficial visit
October 2015 -- Unofficial visit
October 2015 (the next day) -- Golden fired
February 2016 -- Attended Junior Day
March 2016 -- Committed
April 2016 -- Visited by Manny Diaz and Thomas Brown
July 2016 -- Attended Paradise Camp
October 2016 -- Unofficial visit
November 2016 -- Unofficial visit
December 2016 -- Decommitted

Compared to the timelines of other players who'd initially committed to Golden (Perry, Donaldson, Burns, Steed), it seems like communication with Dingle and Scott dropped off sharply after Paradise Camp. The other guys had far more unofficial visits and/or more multiple visits from coaches.

They committed before spring practice began, so perhaps Richt wasn't yet completely aware of the lack of speed at WR. Why we took their commitments in the first place, I don't know. Maybe to honor their initial offers. Maybe to keep them in place while properly evaluating them. Whatever the reason, they clearly weren't high-priority takes.

It was supposed to be Jeudy, Holloman or Smith, Njoku, Scott, and Dingle as our WR class. With guys like Jeudy and Holloman/Smith you can take one or two "possession" receivers. Jeudy was close the first time, he wasn't always Bama, it was very close. Holloman trolled us big time. It took a little more time because Holloman strung us out and then they needed to work on the DB position numbers so they could put DeeJay at WR. But since we lost out on those top tier and need speed back we can't take those guys. Then it turns into DeeJay, Harley, Njoku, Grad Transfer, and one more depending on the numbers. That seems how it played out to me.

As long as it works out in the end, I don't mind the gross incompetence of taking commits from a couple 4.9 guys when you were yapping about needing speed at WR back in the spring. It never made sense to yap about needing speed at WR while getting commits from a couple guys who run the same as elite OL.

Add a couple burners between now and signing day, and I'll congratulate Rick for recognizing the idiocy and fixing it. ***** up and he'll rightly get roasted.

It played out, Dugan failed and after signing day we should replace him . Maybe Michael or Andre Johnson can take over at wr .

It took staff 3/4 of the year to spread David out wide to create mismatches. Dugan is clueless and needs to be replaced . Not good coach or recruiter

Rumph gets the hate but Dugans is the one I have my eye on

Why is Dugans getting more evil eye than Rum when Rum can't even get any of his own players here? He can't even get an early commitment from a kid that he coached all his life who calls him his 2nd father.
