I mean we was talking about the coaching changes and I made a post saying fields and Joe could be next to be gone and I don’t think him and a few others liked me saying field might be out
@lindend

No, no, my friend. My disagreement w/ u had zero to do w/ Field remaining as an on-field coach. The disagreement was you saying that Field had nothing to do w/ Skinner coming here, that it was Mario, despite 247 crediting Field as the primary recruiter, despite Skinner himself saying Field stayed on him & was the number one reason.

That’s all. When Field was hired here, I pointed out Manny had free reign to pick his staff & he picked a HS coach w/ limited Collegiate Experience as an on field coach, so it should be no wonder we started 0-2 in the 2019 season.

I’ve been very clear that I’m not attached to any coaches, but when something is said that’s not true, imma call it out, regardless how I feel about a coach.

This might be a dumb question, but when it comes to on-field coaching how does it work with the TE’s? Especially in a spread offense.

Does the TE coach lead them in blocking and receiving drills? Do they join the OL and WR units for those drills? Is it a bit of both?

There’s former players here that could speak to more specifics but just from what I’ve seen it really does differ from team to team. Some coaching staffs are almost a bit of each coach helping out in many areas…to an extent of course. Just meaning in some cases the “titles” are some slight manipulation of the college roles (with some of you less high profile spots)

Other coaches like to have a more strict coach to position approach

Not sure how Mario does it though it seems from the reports that guys mix it up

Make Fields Director of Recruiting. And pay bump.. families and recruits love him.

Coaching wasn’t really his strong point, good move recognizing that, and putting him a position that fits him and the team better.

Lately it's been a spot for OC's that aren't QB coaches to "coach" but GA's are really coaching it.
Often also a special teams coordinator dumping spot, but that's been moving off-field lately with GA's coaching it up with the STC who is illegally coaching (not for long if that rule went through, can't remember: edit: rule didn't pass)
Helps to have someone on technical things (technique, footwork, strike accuracy), and tactical things.
Houston loved the TE under Dana, but Air Raid TE with how Dana ran things takes a dedicated coach w/ all the nub sets
