With Malek Young now done playing(truly unfortunate)

Simple solution: move Redwine back to cb and let him cover big, slow receivers. Move Amari carter, Derrick Smith, or Gurvan Hall to his safety spot.

You obviously weren’t watching Redwine trying to cover 2 star backup WRs in the bowl game. The staff needs to either send out more offers at CB or close with Campbell, Surtain, and Bethel. Seriously, there are 3 CB’s on the roster. We will barely be able to scrimage during the spring even with the EE’s.

Exactly. Redwine was moved to safety for a reason.

It’s going to be a long year on defense with our lack of depth at DL and CB. Hopefully Perry takes the starting spot at QB and the offense can lead this team.

Lack of depth at cb? We had even less depth at cb in 2017 when we entered the season with 5 corners with 1 or 2 of them getting hurt multiple games

Lol. He started over Blades.

Lol. He has no redeeming traits and Blades has several. Miami fans are getting forlorn over a small unathletic corner with bad technique who committed to a hated rival...pathetic. If HS production/status was so important Trayone Gray would have broken records at Miami like the "insiders" on here led everyone to believe.

I'll watch the players with my own eyes and make my own evaluations over reading stats and star rankings. But fine laugh and neg away and we'll see what happens in a few years.

And Diaz was complaining about it all Spring and Fall camp. There's no excuse for us to be in this situation will all the talent at CB this year.

We are bringing in 3 4star cbs possibly another, idk what you want them to do? Who was expecting Malek Young to never play again?

With Malek gone (Hopefully it nothing long term and doesn't effect his everyday life w/o football)

It made our CB situation worse. Rumph only got 2 CBs his first 2 years. Now with young gone we only have 2 capable CB. Apparently it takes a while for DB especially to learn the Manny's scheme.

Edit: If Rumph can't sell Tyson and Surtain on starting day 1 at Miami especially with the relationship they got he gotta go because it makes you wonder when can he convince an elite player to come if not those 2.

Time for the sniper (Hartley) to take over the recruiting for these 2, let Rumph sit back and watch and learn.

I'll buy that Blades may have more potential. I think he's a Safety though. Samuels is more ready to contribute right away. Gray wasn't a consensus top 50 recruit like Samuels. Gray wasn't even a top 500 recruit. That's a horrible comparison.

UM needs to bring in at least 5 CB's this year. That's what they have to do to get the #'s right. It's pretty simple.

Incredibly sad about Malek but honestly that means we desperately need to sign 5 cbs so Campbell/Surtain become absolute must gets

Good chance Bethel is in this class.

Bethel has already been told he's in

Brothel is another JAG....

Ryan Mayes, Robert knowles, Nigel bethel all the same. None should be at Miami only difference is that bethel has speed

I hate to agree with u but it looks that way. Would any of those guys be on our 2000 squad? thats my question of every player when I evaluate them, is he Miami good? true miami good

I understand what you are saying......everybody on the 2000 team wasn’t a baller or elite.....

Good chance Bethel is in this class.

A plan C kid who was dropped by the Gators. As the late Jim Mandich would say “not the type of prospect that tickles your toes”. Divaad Wilson, much better better than Bethel and was not even offered.

Miami has Bethel rated higher than Wilson on their board.

gogeta4

My boy geta bout to lose his mind with that one.

No way you can watch both play and think Bethel is a better cb...and im a guy that doesnt mind Bethel because he is a + Athlete.

Seemed like Divaad just didnt have the personality they liked maybe...or something. Divaad is a dog...and one that would let you know it. Think of a young Antrel Rolle.

Bethel has tools that you can work with..plus special teams ability kr/pr..even though Wilson returned for MNW to. To be honest i think they just debacled the recruiting from Jobe down and its a trickle down effect. But count me in as one of the guys that doesnt mind Nigel Bethel..knowing that he is a kid that may need a shirt and some seasoning.

MiaMI SHOULD NEVER BE IN APOSITION TO NOT HAVE ENOUGH CBS TO FIELD A SPRING SCRIMMAGE.

The DB and DL recruiting got botched, plain and simple, this year.

You outlined part of what makes the Campbell & Surtain battles so important. If not now, when?

Our depth chart is barren. Rumph has longstanding relationships with both kids and their families. They're both desperately needed. We're a preseason Top 10 team coming off a 10-win season. If we can't win these battles after the finishes to the last two recruiting cycles at CB, then why would anyone expect or hope for different results next year with guys like Dent, Stevenson, etc.?

Never. Practically every important recruiting factor is on the side of Miami/Rumph. Unless you're dealing with legacy recruits, you won't find a recruiting set up more favorable. Getting at least one is critical from a team perspective so hopefully Rumph delivers.

Yea.... And look what happened. They got torn up by Hornibrook, Benkert, Kelly Bryant and tons of other ****** passers. If we have to go through that again we will be in for a bad season.

Of course you are 100% correct but most people here rather be told lies by resident fake insiders. “Oh “rattler” please tell me Campbell is coming”. GTFOH.

They shouldd of took WIlson and made those kids grow up and get along, imagine saban turning a kid away because he didnt like someone on the team lol. crazy

Safety would be a waste of Blades' best traits. He's not an upside project when he has the size and technique to play right away. He was the only guy that could actually match up with St. Brown who's arguably the best WR this cycle.

Samuel Jr. has not shown cover skills on film or in 1on1s in the camp circuit. STA played a lot of zone and they probably felt he was a better run defender and playmaker. Those skills are a lot less relevant in college - where he will actually have to man up and cover real threats - than in HS. My comparison for Samuel is a less athletic Greg Reid.

Fortunately the staff knows what they're doing and don't evaluate off recruiting lists and HS depth charts. But sorry this post doesn't fit the panic narrative of this board of sissies, so neg away.

And they're the only ones, along with Bowling Green and Akron.
Miami's opinion on matters a lot more than yours does
