Wiltfong On Campbell

Why are we measuring the success of this recruiting class based on Campbell, Jobe, Samuel, etc. not committing to the Canes? Well, Campbell is the only one left from this "Elite" group of DBs, and it seems the fans are holding their breath. Campbell will be a big time get, but I am pleased with the 4 who has signed. I rather see the staff focus on DL and OL, because we are no match for the elite teams at the present time. In my opinion, we have spent too much resources ($$$$) on trying to convince non-committed players to be Canes.

I continue to receive email about giving extra funds to support the new facility, and I noticed the staff is flying all over the country chasing a recruit (Jobe) who decided on Bama. Surtain and Campbell have been informed of Canes keen interest in their services to bring us back at the elite level...now let them make their choices. Let's continue to look at DL and OL, to include 2019.

I have a hard time understanding the purpose of a TE coach? WR and OL coaches should handle that position. SMH, because the players can receive instruction on passing and blocking from three different position coaches (RB, OL, and WR).

Such a terrible post.

Smart must of learned the ropes of the "Bag Game" from Satan himself at Alabaga. Is Georgia that much more attractive than Miami? I don't get it really. The guy is not a proven head coach and without that two headed monster in the backfield who knows what there record would be. Time will tell I guess over the next few years as it will with Richt and Co.

Miami Vs. Georgia

Education......Miami
A$$..............Miami
Weather........Miami
Brand...........Miami
Momentum....Georgia
Coaching.......Miami
Conference....Georgia (Media Biased)
Facilities........Georgia
Bag Game......Georgia
Turnover Chain..Miami

I agree on some, but not on these if I try to look at them more objectively:

Education - Draw - the gap between 46 and 54 in the country is negligible outside Miami's alumni base. They are both in the same tier of prestige to the rest of the country, Decent football school.

A$$ - Subjective - if you want diversity, miami wins, if you don't, you go to a SEC public school.

Brand - Georgia - on this very same site there is a thread about how we haven't meant anything in 15 years. On this same board people laud Richt for winning ten games a year for 15 years. The brand argument, for a kid that is 18 or younger, goes to Georgia. Their sustained success plus the reputation of the SEC made us a has-been until this season.

Coaching - Georgia - we are neither better on the field or in recruiting, that is a staff issue.

Thanks for the info. The fact of the matter is that nobody on this board, other than Rattler, knows what this kid is going to do. His entire recruitment has been pretty low-key and he has handled it respectfully. It would be great if other recruits would take note of how TC has handled his recruitment. The kid would be an incredible addition to the class in an area where there is a big need. I'm gonna stay cautiously optimistic that he chooses UM in the end. Regardless of his decision I will wish him nothing but the best for his future as I respect the **** out of the way he has handled his recruitment.

If they all handled their recruitment like Campbell, this board wouldn’t be half as much fun. What would we kvetch about?

Not to worry, we would still make crap up.

One dude said he got a UGA "vibe" from TC and this board blew up.

Turns out the guy who had the vibe just had raw chicken that day. He is vibing pretty badly right now.

If its a reporter for a particular fan base they are probably going to lead questions that make it sound good for their fan base. Then some of those "reporters" will just flat out make stuff up.

if you were Tyson Campbell, why would you ever think of going to miami over UGA?

Ya serious? When’s the last time you saw a Georgia Cornerback get drafted and have success in the league not named Champ Bailey, Reshad Jones, or Brandon Boykin?

Mel Tucker is a$$ cheeks, and Miami has put way more dbs in the league even during or down years

Fire rumph.

such a terrible post.

cant judge that post till post signing day...

Another brilliant post. Let's ignore everything he has done the last two years and only focus on if Campbell comes. Great call.

This is only his 2nd year. He has done a good job with the corners he has had to work with and all he needs to do is add campbell to frierson, blades, and ivey.

Rumph is our best position coach.

He’s not going anywhere for a very long time.

Mike Rumph is one of the few truly elite DB coaches in the country.

What he has managed to do with what he has been given is nothing short of remarkable. He’s turned very mediocre talent into solid starters. He’s an excellent recruiter who’s put together one of the best DB classes this fine institution has ever seen, and there’s a swell chance he’s going to add another top prospect.

We are extremely fortunate to have Mike Rumph.

Not sure you can say Rumph is an elite DB coach. Too early to tell with him. Some good signs for **** sure but also some warning signs.

Rumph is a good db and position coach, given who has to play with his cbs have been generally good outside of a couple games. Play will be even better when better talent come in. But come on man he’s not a better coach than Kool who is regarded as the top dline coach in the country
