Will Miami win another NC in our lifetime?

I'll be 50 in 3 months. I expect Miami to win 5 more championships before I reach my coffin.

I believe UM is in the midst of a curse similar to the boston red sox last century. We were cursed the moment paul dee extended cokers contract when everyone paying attention to the program knew it was the wrong move.

It will last until someone can break...

THE CURSE OF THE SHALALA-BINO.

I don't like the new "Lamp".

I hear you man.. I'm normally not the "sky is falling" type but after taking in that beat down in Orlando in person & seeing all this tomfoolery surrounding our program this week, I'm at maximum rustle capacity. At the end of the day, I think the people in charge are happy as can be with no arrest, 3.5 gpa's & 9 win seasons. It's killing me.

Penn State South been saying it for months get used to it.. 9-3, 8-4 soft schedules and just good enough to hover around 24-25 in the polls.. We Are Penn State South..

Couple of things that I think hurt us here.

The U has done something UTexas, UF, Bama, etc., etc. haven't been able to, and cannot, is do a ton, with a little. I don't think there is a school in this country that can match what UM has done with so little. We don't have half of what some schools have, yet we 5 "Nattys" in 30 or so years. Going on a limb here, because I'm a 28 year old Cane fan, but really, it was a bunch of local kids with chips on their shoulders, and coaches that could position them to do what needed to be done. Fancy facilities, private jets, Firebirds, and all that crap weren't what built The U.

That history now haunts us. The admin still believes that can work still. The landscape has changed dramatically, and that which was good then, will make you mediocre now. They feel they can find a cheap coach, recruit local kids (minus the chip) and win 5 more. Obviously it doesn't work. At least not anymore.

Adaption has to happen. Need to find a guy who really and truly gets it, not just appear to, and recruit the kids we are getting now, but some more of these Uncle Luke kids as well, to truly get back where we need to be.

Pay a great coach, let him hire a great staff, mix that with the recruits we are getting, and the Luke All Stars, let them play fast, hard, swagged out, and care free on defense, get the ball to your playmakers underneath, over the top, running right at them, and great special teams, and we are back. It's truly that simple.

IF this happens, we'll get a few more in at least my lifetime.

all depends on who takes over after Shalala. If its someone that has an ounce of concern about the football program then yes. If its someone like Shalala or worse, then the answer is a NO.

All depends on the next president.

It really depends on this inept administration.

If they leave and we actually get people with a ******* clue making the decisions...then we have a chance.

We're basically a sleeping giant right now that's being held back by repeated self inflicted wounds. You don't hire 3 horrible coaching staffs in a row over 10+ years by accident...you have to be REALLY GOOD at being inept to make such a claim.

Times, they are a changin'.

Think we've been left behind.

Program will either downgrade from Division 1 or go out out of business before winning another national title.

Our dumb *** administration needs to realize that shelling out the money for a great coach and great staff will be worth it in the long run. Consistent top 5-10 teams and constant ACC championships along with being in contention for the national championship ill fill all the seats and blast merchandise sales through the roof.

We will make money with a great team year in and year out. Guaranteed. ****es me off how dumb and cheap this university can be.

In all honesty, if UM does not build a stadium for itself, then that answer is an easy no. There's a guy on here who did all the data work on how the stadium has affected home field advantage and point spreads. Every advantage we had in the OB has been vanquished by that concrete slab in the middle of nowhere. That is what truly haunts the program.

So to me, no home stadium, no national title. We might come close, but people seriously underestimate how much the OB meant during our rise and run.

I disagree 1000%. Those great Miami teams are what made the Orange Bowl great, not the other way around. Those great teams of the 80's, 90's and '01 would have been just as dominant if they were playing in a high school stadium. Why? Because they were comprised of great players and coaching staffs that knew how to utilize them.

Blaming the lack of an on campus stadium, or the fanbase, or the administration is just another, but less obvious, way to make excuses for the poor coaching that is the true cause of Miami's woes over the past 10 or so years. Get the right coach and Miami will win national titles no matter where the games are played.

It would be great to have our own stadium, and I would support that 100% but I don't think it is absolutely necessary for the Canes to have in order to win a championship. I will continue to dream of a new stadium though...

Times have changed since the 80s. High school kids now care about stuff like gameday atmosphere (i.e., will ESPN Gameday be there?), fan support, etc. There is no team that can make SunLife "great", IMO, and this program will never get back what it had as long as we're playing there. (This opinion is not meant to excuse **** poor coaching, which is the more immediate issue....the stadium is the over-arching issue holding everything back, IMO)
