What the Alquadin Muhammad commitment...really means.

I will just say this...in its own bubble, the addition of AlQaeda Muhammad is a good one. Putting pressure on the QB and getting into the backfield is paramount in college football...however, schematically, I still feel as though players like AQM, and to a greater point Tyriq McCord and perhaps Tim Williams...they are generally smallish players...listed at 6'3" (which usually means 6'2"), in the 230 range...in Miami's scheme, these players by themselves have a limited effectiveness, at least right now. There needs to be pieces surrounding these outstanding pass rushers to make what they do work. In this instance, those bigger stack ends, or more effective defensive tackles would make these players that much more valuable. These pass rushers, in a perfect world, are the hybrid players. They are the players you use when you overload a side of the line and they are able to come off the edge clean or against a tight end or would match up with a fullback/runningback in the backfield when they come off the line in the 9 technique. At least that is how I see these guys, anyway, so, on its face, I love the signing. But, I think we need to see more from Golden and Co in targeting these players.

IMO, I think Jaynard Bostwick would be that kind of player...DT who can also bounce out and play a stack end...I think Jelani Hamilton could, too. But I think we are still a year or two away from seeing these kind of players make the proper jump in technique and ability. We'll see, anyway. Just my two pennies.

Don't we run a very similar scheme to ND - and weren't they after the kid?

What is ND doing with 6-4 230 lb kids? (serious Q)

I know this question may have already been discussed here but what % of kids end up changing their mind on NSD after announcing during these games?

I think you guys are underestimating what we have in Hoilett.

Talked to a reporter friend of mine down here who spoke with Hurlie about him, not that long ago. Said they thought he was their best pass rusher now, but wanted to give him a year to grow. Hoilett came in at 215, now 240+.

He'll have a big role in 13.

They don't think he's better than Mccord.

That's just one of the many things we have been missing lately, the ability to RS guys that need it. McCord wasn't ready yet but we needed him to play. In a perfect world guys like him would RS, be 240 by the time he stepped on the field, and would be a terror by his 3rd year here.

Great to hear about Hoilett. Excited to see what he, O'Donnell, Dortch, Hope, Blue bring to the table this year.
