What the Alquadin Muhammad commitment...really means.

And they're doing all this with sanctions looming...

remove those sanctions and grown men will be crying tears of joy around here

Don't you guys think you're putting a bit too much into this commitment?

you should obviously be excited, the dude is a great player, but there were other circumstances at play here. As Larry pointed out there were issues with ND, bama was never really after this guy as they have Demarcus Walker and a few others. Last I heard, he's still planning on visiting ND, doesn't sound like this is really over. Seems the guy took a vacation trip to miami, fell in love with it, and made a commitment. Your class last year and a few of those guys meant more than this commitment IMO, especially Howard and Bush.

The faulty logic indicates fear.

Huh? Just saying, not sure how you get all that out of that commitment.

As I pointed out your class last year would be more indicative of what you stated in the op IMO. You guys got some pulls that nobody thought you had any chance with. And it was big because they were all local guys who were leaving the 'state of miami' which you never want happening. The fact that those guys stayed home signaled a change.

All of what?

Is it good for us to get a 4* commit out of Don Bosco? You bet. That's an elite national program, and if we have good relationships with the coaches there that can only be a plus.

Did this kid have offers from Notre Dame, Alabama, and others? Yes, look at his film. This kid is a legit pass rusher. We're pumped up because a good pass rush is exactly what we were missing last year.

i think it's important to note the don bosco link here. AQM is not just a top recruit from new jersey, he's a top recruit from one of the top prep football schools in the country. if this leads to a little bosco-UM pipeline, this commitment grows in importance. shows some recruiting long-termism from golden.

For your 1st post you hit a home run. Good insight on Canesinsight!

We got a great head coach- can we start a coaches salary fund where we donate money purely to pay and retain our staff (except
NoDforU of course)

Yes, we can and probably should. All university fundings are divided into restricted and unrestricted funds. Donations for this can go to a designated restricted funding account. UM probably already has one setup.

so is this our "surprise" recruit of the year? or are we expecting some more surprise recruits?

They said Golden flew up to visit AQM the day after he left Miami and finished up his official visit. Golden wanted this one BAD.

Muhammad said this as one of the reasons he committed. Golden showed him how bad he wanted him.

I think this is especially important with todays recruit. Nowadays kids NEED to be shown the love and are a lot more about the spotlight. Just look at how many different arm band combinations were at the UA game.

Bosco is annually a top 25 team in the nation. Also a kid names Jabril Peppers who plays up near Bosco that is a 5 star talent. NJ produces top talent every year

Two of the top five players from Golden's home state.

There were four guys from New Jersey who started for the Canes the 2001 Rose Bowl (five if you count Jamaal Green).

According to Scout, these ARE THE TWO BEST PLAYERS FROM NJ IN THE 2013 CLASS.

Although he's not highly ranked, I forgot about Knighton as well.

#23. And from Bergen Catholic, another top program up there. Al Golden going back to his roots. Love it.
