What has Mario done?

Blah, blah, blah......

We weren't on an upward trajectory, as was claimed.

It was the same trajectory we are on right now but with zero resources. In either case year 4 is likely a disaster. It would just have been a much less expensive disaster with Diaz.

It’s so funny when people can only point to 10 wins as the reason he’s done well here.

wE oNLY hAD OnE 10-WIn SEasOn SInCE 2004!!!

Well guess what - if someone opens a restaurant with no help and revenue is dog**** for 15 years cyphering in new chef after new chef… then all of a sudden he hits the lotto with unprecedented financial backing, buys a new chef the finest ingredients to cook with…spends a ton of money on advertising as a new, state of the art place…and the food is minimally better than before…well are you really any better? Or is it just the actual spending that’s the difference?

But there will always be 15-20 diehards of the place, because they can’t accept reality that the owner is still inadequate.

Cool. We weren't improving, as was claimed.
I don't know The eye test says we were. We lost our big time transfer quarterback and our freshman quarterback improved throughout the year and was out playing first round draft picks in conference games. That seems like improvement to me.

We were 1-2 with King. 7-5 on the season. That isn't an improvement from the year before.

It is as true as saying Cristobal has improved every year at UM.

Great. That isn't being claimed in this conversation. It's simple:

1. Poster says we were improving every year under Diaz
2. The record says otherwise

That's really it.

"But Mario......" isn't really an excuse for Diaz.
I would argue that he is earned the right to finish out his contract more than Mario.

I was yelling for Diaz to be fired year one after the GT game. But you did make changes and did well with what he had. I need to go back and look to confirm but I think you recruited as many five stars or maybe more than Mario has.

Everyone was talking about this roster before the year during the year and it took until the 4th quarter to take control of Duke. Duke didn't even have enough offensive lineman to have a pass rush in their spring game. Literally playing against air.

Not defending Manny I'm just saying Mario is terrible. The comparison is justified. It's a pretty terrible world with what we were sold about Mario and that he still struggling to compete against the ghosts of ******* Manny Diaz.

People can think Mario is terrible without the revisionist history of the Diaz era.

Well in one of my replies to you I mentioned the curve that Mario was given. What kind of pass did Mario get when he lost his starting quarterback? Big one.

TVD had moments against UVA and UNC (2 of the games with a missed game-winning field goal and a fourth down stop) but he didn't start improving till after that. Good coaching. So much so that Mario thought he is the best in the country.

That has nothing to do with Mario.

1-2
Loss 1 was to 13 win Bama, which played in the national title game. Finished #2
Loss 2 was to 11 win Michigan State, which finished #10 in the country.

does a healthy king win those? No.

Does losing those two games mean the team hasn’t improved? Well, if we finish the season beating the teams we should have beaten, then I say we did improve.

There were 3 more losses, all by 5 pts or less. And in two of those, TVD played like garbage. Zero doubt that king wins those. You think a 9 win season wouldn’t count as upward trajectory? Ok bro. If you aren’t going to be objective then there isn’t much else to say.

We didn't win 9. We won 7. You sound like SEC shills with the hypotheticals.

Mario does not have carte-blanche.

Here is what I heard during New Year's Eve:

(1.) Capital is not an obstacle. UM-Health is generating free cash flow of approximately $400M per annum, and barring extreme negligence, it will continue to do so for the foreseeable future;

(2.) UM will use this capital to finish building a sterling campus and it will invest heavily in football (Law School is also a priority). The new president strongly supports the Football Program as does MasTec, Southern Wine and Spirits and several Bacardi shareholders (simply naming a few).

(3.) I was told, "we have more capital for NIL than any non-Texas SEC school, but cannot obviously compete with the Texas oil schools". They will not emulate OSU, but there is ample cash flow available for the Program.

(4.) 'Backers' of the Program are concerned and expect paltry results during 2025. Mario "has to produce a stellar season during 2026, or they will fire him". They have never paid someone such a high salary and have provided Mario with unprecedented resources.

(5.) I was wrong. These gentlemen expect UM to build the Football Facility. The Medical Center's cash flow stream, coupled with a strong donor pool, will be fully utilized and not forsaken (not just Football).

(6.) The model is Emory University when they received $105M from Coke's CEO Woodruff during 1979, and then received even greater donations from the subsequent CEO - Goizueta (these guys were very close to Goizueta).

(7.) According to a close family-member of Mendoza (not his parents), Mendoza wanted a guarantee that he would start. Others on CI can verify this, but that is what they said. Mendoza should have waited and watched the Pop-Tarts Bowl, because he is obviously a better QB than Williams.

Answer my first question- what is this years record if Ward has a bad knee to start the season and doesn’t play after week 3?

3-9 in yet another hypothetical situation.

You can hate Mario. I couldn't care less. Just stop with the gorilla math that has Manny Diaz "improving" to 7-5 in year 3.
