TE’s look great.

We’ve brought in a lot of dudes the last 2 classes at LB and DLine. They’re young and coaching was a mess last year all over on D. Our secondary is still a big ?.

But overall what he’s done has brought in the most talented recruiting classes in our conference the last few years. And we’ve consistently won more games each year. Now we need to figure out the coaching aspect, let these guys develop. And this year hopefully figure out the QB as we look to bridge for Nickel so we don’t take a big step back

My brother..Great answer but CIS is not a place to be rational.
 
He hasn't done anything. We were on an upward trajectory when Manny was canned. If Mario never came here we would have won more games over the last 3 years.

Mario is not even that great of a recruiter. How do I know? Look at all the posts about what next year's roster's going to look like.

The only support Mario has because people already started eating the chili they talk so much about don't want to look bad spitting it out.

What’s our record this year if Ward had blown out his knee in his last game at WSU, then was lost 3 games into this season?

Let’s look at Diaz’s 3 year tenure

6-7 with Jarren Williams, QB he inherited but turned out to not even be good enough to play QB at a community college

8-3 D’Eriq King, blows out knee in bowl game in shortened season. Original non covid schedule had 2 cupcakes and no Clemson. Likely a 10 win season.

7-5 unhealthy D’Eriq King starts season and is lost after game 3

Here’s the Losses in 2021 that would have been Ws with King.

UVA 30-28 TVD 15/29 203 yards 1 TD. Lashlee didn’t trust TVD (for good reason ) No doubt we win that with King

UNC 45-42 TVD 20/45 264 yards 1 TD, 3 INTs. Horrendous. Zero doubt King has a cleaner game.

FSU 31-28. Tossup. TVD 25/47, 422 yards 4 TDs, 2 INTs

If king doesn’t get injured in bowl game, UM likely finishes 9-4 or 10-3.

It’s ridiculous not to factor in how much losing King hurt the team in 2021.

King stays healthy it’s a different story- Diaz would have gone from 6 wins to 8 (or 10 if not shortened season), then 9-10 wins in year 3. We would essentially be where we are now, but with a HC at half the salary and all done on a shoestring budget.

Are there better coaches than Diaz? Yes, lots of coaches could have done what he did (or better). Is Cristobal one of them? Nope.
