What has Mario done?

If we do have it, we sure haven't used it & I'm not sure what we're waiting for especially considering the amount of high caliber players we missed on thus far in the Portal.

I do however believe OP in general & isn't just clout chasing.

Dude has less than 5 posts in 15 years, there's absolutely NO reason for him to make any of this up.
Agreed on him being legit.

I just can’t see that one cuz like you said, if we do have it like that, then wtf are we using it on

The rest of the info seems plausible

You tend to know what you got after year two.

Winners win. To Mario’s credit, we have progressively gotten better in the W and L column for the past three years. I can’t objectively say we have gotten worse, because that’s simply untrue.

I personally do not see this trend of winning more games continuing next season. If it doesn’t, I will jump into this conversation.

For now, I am skeptical of Mario, at best, cautiously optimistic. A lot of our success will hinge on how we address the holes in our team and coaching.

He’s got a lot of work to do.

I will give him credit for building up the O-line and the running game, it is solid and I can see the philosophy behind it and actually have seen the development and a plan that was implemented and well on its way to being considered successful. Grade: A

I have not seen any semblance of the development of a QB, maybe that will change with Luke Nickel but so far I have not seen a QB that he has brought in as a normal recruit. You get credit for waiting around and having Cam Ward forego the draft but if that had not happened this would have been an atrocious season that would have seen Mario possibly being shown the door as I highly doubt that Poffenbarger or Williams (aka Park Statue) would have achieved more than 4 wins. Grade: D

Wide receivers, Jacolby George still does the same things during a game that make you want to scream and I don't think Mario recruited him. Sam Brown underachieved, Horton was coming along and now he is gone. Portal recruiting hopefully saves the day. Restrepo was another player here when you got here. Grade: C

Tight Ends, lots of talent coming through the door and it seems to make sense and there is a plan to the approach and it is being executed. Right next to the O-Line so Mario seems to understand what goes on with TE's. Grade: A-

D-Line, I have never seen a single unit regress during a season, until now. Was it the additions thru the portal or just terrible coaching? Was it paying players and they have no desire because they get fat and lazy? Who knows but anyone even remotely familiar with Canes football knows that our D-Line is what made this program great, these players are the least achieving of all the bad D-Lines over the past 20 years. Grade: F

Lber's and DB's, just really bad, getting tired of typing the same crap, our DB's had no clue who to cover, it was mesmerizing to watch, either they are the dumbest players on the planet or the coaching was the worst ever, who doesn't know that when a player goes in motion that both DB's covering 2 receivers in front of them shouldn't both go with the receiver in motion??? Grade; F

Haven't seen a complete plan developed and we played our 3rd season with this coach, don't know his philosophy for building a team and he is as bad on gameday as I have ever seen since I walked out on Butch coaching against WVU in the OB one Saturday. Not sure Mario is very intelligent, he works hard for sure but breaking rocks with a sledgehammer after dynamite has already been invented seems to be where we are at right now, sorry to say.
Breaking rocks with a sledgehammer when dynamite has already been invented is poetic and exactly describes Meathead.

Not basing you but going for 8 wins in year 4 feels bad. Did it sound like a Norvell season could get him tf out of here because that looks very realistic as of today?
Yes, of course. This is Mario's fourth year. A Norvel type year would undoubtedly lead to a dismissal. Less than 7-wins, and I definitely think that the Board fires him (my opinion).

In a worst case scenario, with Williams as QB, Mario should win at least 5-games next year. If he wins 7, they would wait to see what transpires during 2026.

The 'power' in Miami shifted these past few years, but the donor pool to the University of Miami remains the same. Kenneth Griffin, the Indian Creek crowd and Palm Beach do not care about our 'Canes. The Donors that support the Team are all, supposedly, highly aligned.

He won 5 games, then 7 games, then 10 games.

Let’s see what happens in 2025.
We know what will happen in 2025 (likely an FSU type of regression) because no matter what QB he lands in the portal there will be a massive drop off in QB play. We were a few lucky bounces away from winning 6/7 games and that was with a generational QB.

He missed the ACC championship, then missed the ACC championship, then missed the ACC championship.

Let’s see what year 4 has in store, because the excuses seem to be getting more ridiculous by the season.

Think New Amsterdam GIF by NBC

2022: "Gotta fix the culture"

2023: "Needs time to get his own guys in"

2024: "Syracuse is a tough place to play in November. You never want to play Iowa State in a bowl game."

2025: TBD

Counter points.

At QB his 1st recruiting class he had a late start and dint have time to bring a top QB. His 2nd class we missed on an HS but got Cam. Our 3rd class he got his guy in Nickel but he’s a freshman.

RB’s have been great.

WR I don’t see the complaints here. Jojo, Ny, Moore, Chance, Toney, Upshaw

TE’s look great.

We’ve brought in a lot of dudes the last 2 classes at LB and DLine. They’re young and coaching was a mess last year all over on D. Our secondary is still a big ?.

But overall what he’s done has brought in the most talented recruiting classes in our conference the last few years. And we’ve consistently won more games each year. Now we need to figure out the coaching aspect, let these guys develop. And this year hopefully figure out the QB as we look to bridge for Nickel so we don’t take a big step back
Why do you have to come here and ruin the OP's whining. Take this positive stuff elsewhere.

So you’ll give me over 2.5 wins for a grand?

That's "tallest midget" **** right there.

The ACC is a garbage JV league. It's allowed the limp-**** UM administration to do just enough to "get by" for all these years.

I do appreciate your optimism tho, Cane brotha.

TBF, Mario absolutely has done some good things

He's a former Cane, so it really doesn't matter what he's done or hasn't done.

He's Cuban, he's from Miami & he played for Butch, that's ALL that matters.
He played for Johnson and Erickson and was a GA for Butch.

Mario has a great reputation and has a chance to convince some portal transfers from Oregon and west coast schools to give us serious consideration, but not without a QB.

The excuses and fall guys are done. We all know what happens next if 2025 isn’t an improvement.
