We‘ll see. Can’t say yah or nah yet.
Yes I can; not one elite team in America recruit the way u’re proposing. U stack by over signing. U sign an “elite” OL class in 2023? Who gives a fck; u sign more elite OL in 2024 b/c
1. There’s something called the portal
2. It’s only elite on paper. U know how many guys don’t pan out.
So let’s revisit this elite OL class.
Mauigoa (Hit)
Samson (Could be a portal candidate as he keeps getting passed up)
Tripp (nothing)
Kinsler (nothing)
Tinilau (always been a project, nothing so far)
So this theory of “elite” is imaginary & conjecture. It was 2 5* guys (one has panned out, the other is iffy), & 3, 3* guys, one being a fa sho project. That’s not an elite haul, that’s a good haul, where u project two guys being bookend starters, & hope to develop the other guys into starters. The other guys who made the OL elite (Lee, Cohen) were 1 yr rentals.
In order to breed competition & sustained winning culture, u don’t say:
Year 1, we’ll focus on OL & let everything else fall to the wayside
Year 2, we’ll focus on DL, & let everything else fall to the wayside
Year 3, we’ll focus on DB, & let everything else fall to the wayside
Year 4, we’ll focus on WR, & let everything else fall to the wayside.
Guess what will happen by year 5? U stack chips by over recruiting. Injuries happen, Portal happen, misevaluations happen, etc. U mitigate that by attacking every recruiting class like there’s a need.
