Well this certainly doesn’t sound great

Curious. When you say measurable, what specifically are you referring to with those two QBs? Nickel and Coleman.
Arm strength, speed, agility, vertical, etc. Athleticism and arm strength primarily.

Coleman is still short. But stronger arm, moves better, more athletic all around, more explosive athlete.

Mario ain’t good enough on the field to be getting top 15 classes. Would be a big red flag coming off a season like this

Big money guys better stop being cheap and pony up if we need to overpay
FFS!! THANK YOU!

I don't think i EVER seen ONE poster say Mario is a great coach. Average is probably the most complimentary I've seen. He is a talent acquisition coach. Everyone was ok with the hire because he is a master recruiter. Then came NIL. With him being an ace recruiter and the program having NIL money, recruiting should be top 7-8 without much effort.

If Mario can't close on recruits with NIL being the cherry on top.....we know how the on field product looks, sans this year. Again, we need to come to terms with being a good team with a great season every 5 years or so. But we should not be dropping 10 mil a season to be what we were for free. (maybe not entirely free, but to the feds.....)

The Oregon’s, OSU’s, Texas, etc, gap between us isn’t getting smaller. Texas lost 2 RB’s and they aren’t missing a beat. Georgia safety room is elite. I can go on.

Going into year 4, I don’t see us reloading with HS prospects, especially in certain key rooms. I’m just saying, this is concerning.

I agree but is it realistic to replenish virtually every position group with top tier talent in 3-4 recruiting classes when these other top tier teams have done it for much longer? Let’s face it, recruiting sucked under richt and manny - that’s 5 years wasted coming on the heels of Alf Gluten.

You’re comparing that with teams like Georgia and osu that have been fielding top 10 classes for 15 years and top 3 classes for basically the last 7-10 years. That’s a huge talent gap to overcome in 3 years.

All these recruits and their families talk about the same **** we do. They see the games. They just watched a pathetic game against GT. They know we don't have a QB for next year. They know next year could be bad. They know the ACC sucks. They know Guidry is retarded and Mario is one spot above retarded. Prepare to be disappointed with this year's class. If I'm wrong, I'll eat a pound of crow.
God**** you guys are pussies.

Agree. Literally the biggest ******* whiniest fanbase in CFB. Lose one game and the sky is falling. Look at Mario’s pedigree. He is a proven coach. He will meet or exceed expectations this year.
That is American culture now my guy. A bunch of whiny dumb #####es. It's a land of hate and despair not to mention ultra stupidity. Indeed of enjoying the most success they have had in years they treat this team like they are Georgia or Ohio state like we were pre season natty championship picks. I doubt making the playoffs win impress these people. Again this program could be Oklahoma Florida Clemson FSU USC. Who you all rather Miami be those programs currently????

I think the staff is changing its ways in some ways. Look at 2026, for example. However, In the past, we have reached on a lot of kids that not many schools were truly interested in or aren’t really moving the needle to build a program. I feel we take on too many “projects” who normally are 3 star players because the staff thinks they can coach these kids up. I hope I am dead wrong but I don’t believe it’s working. For example, the Ray Ray’s, CJ’s, Robby’s/Bobby’s, Harris, Wes, Chase, etc. are mid players, thus far.

Looking ahead, I suspect (wink wink) we are going to hit the portal hard for next season on numerous positions because certain staff members are concerned about certain rooms. In year 4, I am surprised this is the case under Mario. Eventually, this program will need to be built through HS. The 2025 class, although talented in some positions, is a tad disappointing considering the season we are having.
I'm leaning toward many of these opinions.

The two most important Qb traits will always be intelligence/decision making and accuracy imo. Maybe 3rd would be creativity or maybe how quick/tight their release is. Speed is the least useful Qb trait there is imo. Even less useful if the player isn't also big, cause at least then they'd have a good speed score. But being fast and short/thin without muscle isn't all that useful imo. Agility/explosion is much more important than that cause then they're likely to be able to escape pressure quickly imo. Pure Arm Strength as in ability to like launch the ball 70 yards is cool, but significantly over rated, especially if its combined with a poor or elongated release. But arm strength as in velocity at different arm angles combined with a quick release is great obviously.

But hey hopefully Coleman is like Kyler Murray for us. That's be awesome. Idk if he's definitely a better recruit than Nickel is. To me Nickel is clearly the best HS Qb we've signed in a while.

Nickel I think doesn't look like anything special physically. But he seems like he makes good decisions, is very productive and wins at a high level program against good comp pretty sure, has a very solid/thick build and doesn't seem immobile - he can scramble and take some contact, Seems pretty accurate. I do agree it doesn't seem like he has a great arm or anything, and doesn't seem like a great athlete, but probably good enough to pick up 10 yards on scrambles... Pats the ball a bit too much on his camp stuff I've seen, but has a nice release otherwise imo.

This is why i want Dan Mullen to replace Dawson when he gets hired away somewhere.... lets the offense be taken care of by someone who has a track record of doing well/manage the game & lets Mario be the talent acquisition...... doesn't have to be DM specifically but someone like that ( i do think he would crush it here though... didn't he hate recruiting but crushed the actual xs & os) please correct if wrong

It’s all about evaluation and player development…get the kids who fit what you do develop them and go kick ***…plenty of kids who are not 4 and 5 stars that are balling in college…D Smith doesn’t have the eye for it imo…we need to upgrade in that department big time

Perhaps, I am being overly critical and dead wrong but if we want to take the next steps and compete with the big boys then we need to recruit like them or better. 2025 class isn’t it.
Yes this class is not it. Mario is going to need to hit on a very high number of portal acquisitions to overcome what this class lacks

Nah, you're not. When your best player in the class is a center (and no DL or other OL in the top 5 recruits), you know the class lacks difference makers.

I don’t think you’ve ever said anything negative about Miami ever, but there’s no way you’re comparing Mario to DeBoer and Kirby right?

DeBoer is 111-14 in his career as a HC.

Smart is 101-18.

Even Ryan Day is 63-9 despite doing more with less.

Mario is 83-73.

There’s no way you’re serious right now 😂😂
While I agree that all of those guys are better than Mario when it comes to coaching chops, toss out the FIU era and Cristobal is 56-27.

The idea that Ohio State has ever done "more with less" is hilarious. Day followed Urban Meyer. The cupboard was full.

Not as impressed with Nickel this year as I was last year.

Can't deny the production at the high school level at peak competition especially in the state of Georgia. Can't complain about taking him. When I say low ceiling, I don't mean Jake Garcia or something. I mean he's probably like Will Rogers/Brett Gabbert when before I thought he was more like Sam Howell.

The Sam Howell tools just don't seem like they exist. He didn't take the next physical step forward from JR to SR.
