Well this certainly doesn’t sound great

Agree. Literally the biggest ******* whiniest fanbase in CFB. Lose one game and the sky is falling. Look at Mario’s pedigree. He is a proven coach. He will meet or exceed expectations this

I agree but is it realistic to replenish virtually every position group with top tier talent in 3-4 recruiting classes when these other top tier teams have done it for much longer? Let’s face it, recruiting sucked under richt and manny - that’s 5 years wasted coming on the heels of Alf Gluten.

You’re comparing that with teams like Georgia and osu that have been fielding top 10 classes for 15 years and top 3 classes for basically the last 7-10 years. That’s a huge talent gap to overcome in 3 years.
Wait are y’all actually asking us to take a cleared eye view of our past recruiting history, and compare it with those program’s history and success? And then extrapolate that info to wonder why we are still struggling to keep up with the Big Boys?? Really, that’s just GD blasphemy I tell ya.

I don't follow recruiting too closely, but if some of you believe we are underperforming, it seems to be that there aren't a whole lot of high 4 and 5 stars in our own back yard as there have been in prior cycles. Not having local talent naturally puts us at a disadvantage to leave the state and compete with others.

Miami should be aggressively recruiting nationally period

Before you know it the whole “winning matters in recruiting” crew will move the goalpost back and say
1. It’s cause of our schedule or
2. We didn’t win enough in the end we were bad down the stretch.

You already know the excuses are predictable on here
You seem to be stuck and inflexible with the ‘winning matters in recruiting’ as it only pertains to an upward trajectory. Winning does in fact matter. What do you think our recruiting looks like in year 3 if we are 6-4 and Mario is being looked at as a lame duck? Show me these examples of coaches that didn’t win that kept recruiting at high levels? I bet there maybe a couple but eventually thier time runs out as well.

Eventually you have to prove your vision works because if it doesn’t, you could have the best connection with kids in the whole world and it won’t matter if they know it means ****. Remember these kids are making business decisions for right now and their futures.

Lastly, ESD isn’t here yet and then there is the portal. Let’s have this discussion after all that happens. I for one was really doubting Mario this time last year.

Absolutely. But my point is that we have an advantage recruiting in the tri-county area as opposed to leaving the state. And in a year where talent seems somewhat down locally, that may make recruiting slightly more challenging.

Not as impressed with Nickel this year as I was last year.

Can't deny the production at the high school level at peak competition especially in the state of Georgia. Can't complain about taking him. When I say low ceiling, I don't mean Jake Garcia or something. I mean he's probably like Will Rogers/Brett Gabbert when before I thought he was more like Sam Howell.

The Sam Howell tools just don't seem like they exist. He didn't take the next physical step forward from JR to SR.

Get Mateer in the portal and hope Nickel is better than he looks now. Been 20+ years since we recruited a game changing QB out of HS, so not much different if he doesn’t pan out.

Im just saying if he misses while the on field production is on an upward trajectory then what was the issue? If his first two classes are better during bad seasons it would prove it doesn’t mean a thing. Then when someone points out LSU is *** but DJ rather go there, then again what is it? Cause we have a better record, that means it’s about NIL/relationship to a coach. It’s always been that $$$ and relationships. It will never change.

But I think Mario closes strong cause it’s who he is regardless of record. He’s a relationships building type of dude.

There is that rigidity again. You are trying to make it a mutually exclusive thing when it’s anything but that. You say winning doesn’t matter and this example doesn’t prove that at all. Winning matters, NIL, the overall state of the program, the relationships with the HC and position coach matters, the relationship with the players matters as well and here is the one you seem to forget that is huge in this recruitment, the pedigree of the positional coach matters.

Raymond is that guy and has the results to back it up, in the meantime our DB room is a mess. Kid very well may value that over everything. I bring this up because the statement because we are 9-1 and look like we will miss in DJ does not prove in any way that winning doesn’t matter nor that it’s all about relationships.

It is part of it but its one of the lowest factors IMO, where there are things way above it that people dont emphasize as much. They say winning to build up an excuse as to why we didnt land someone for later so they can blame that specific thing. Its almost like a cope IMO. Florida is horrendous the state of their program is cheeks yet they going to land some high rated guys, but overall their class is **** obviously. But elite HS players are going to play for them (doesn't mean they will be elite in college though)

Thats all I am saying, I get what you are saying though in this post. And yes we should have hired Corey

I have never, in my 50 yr relationship with the U, as an alum and a fan, seen and heard so much expert advice on what coulda, shoulda be done. Also have never seen and heard so much whining, gnashing of teeth and BooF**king Hooing about a 9-1 Canes team. This here is a head scratching mfer. Just sayin’
Haven’t you though? This is exactly the response to every loss in the last 23 years. Literally every single loss has meant our coaches suck, our talent isn’t good enough, and at least half the time, the players aren’t trying hard enough. Go back and read what people posted after the Pitt loss in 2017, I’d bet it sounds a lot like what they’re posting today.

Nobody’s happy about that stupid GT game, but half this board just mopes around hoping for a loss so they can tell everybody what the problem is and how to fix it. If only there were any coaches anywhere as smart as CIS.
