Welcome to the Canes, Derrick Smith

We need special teams players too, I guess.

Current Blue Chip Ratio is 8/22 - elite classes are at 50%. Y'all can fight me and others all you want, but you don't beat FSU and Clemson by replacing 4* prospects that are rated top 50 at their position with 3* kids that are barely top 100. You just don't. If we want to be elite and we are taking 30 kids this class, the next 6 to 7 kids out our 8 commits need to be blue chips. We would need to close with everyone we are targeting to finish at or near that magic number.

McFarland
Harley
Dean
Slaton
Herbert
Edwards

Al Golden and Randy Shannon had rosters like this, too. I'm a huge Mark Richt guy, but same **** different class it seems

Golden n Randy were poor roster management guys....thats why numbers were like that... definitely not the same sh*t, have only had about 4 or 5 de-commits..compared to Golden and Randy that's drastically different and improved

Everyone loved Jamal Carter. And they loved his highlight tapes too. He also had better offers than this dude.

Guys like to reinvent history after players come here and don't perform up to the expected level. But Jamal Carter was everyone's dude when we were recruiting him.

This kid reminds me of Calvin Pryor...not Jamal

Here's Calvin's tape...he didn't look like a world beater either

I watched him in the state game. Stop the foolishness because this boy can ball. Didn't realize who he was at first, but I was like we should have stayed on this kid because he can get it! He fast, smart and brings it. Don't play yourself, he should be a 4* from I saw him do against Chaminade Madonna. Staff bringing in SEC caliber speed, physicality and size. Loving this surprise.

(#9 at his position)
Deon Bush (#10 at his position)
Raphael Kirby (#7 at his position)
Ereck Flowers (#17 at his position)
Malcolm Lewis (#39 at his position, #278 overall -- lowest out of all players mentioned)

But regardless, if you feel that way, our recruiting should be at least a little concerning thus far.

The 2017 class of prospects are weak compared to other years. Jerry Jeudy is the best down here & he would be probably 3rd behind the 2016 WR's just as a position.

2018 will be star studded class.

This guys is reeaaally good. Baller

Yep. What is funny is this kid is one of the best players in this city which is loaded with talent right now but people want guys like Collier who aren't near as good as this kid. LMAO.

Yep but since he wasn't be talked about on here he can't be good right :stupid:

On 247 he said that USC and VT were about to offer it was all about him qualifying now he has. CMR was at his school 2 weeks ago

I wouldn't put to much in this "were about to offer" business.
If those teams really "were about to offer" they will still do it.
We "were about to offer" Collier...hasn't happened. It really means nothing.

This is a Diaz kinda guy. Like it. Can play LB all day even at his size now. Special teams stud his freshman year. I would rather have him over Collier.

Will never play a single down at LB but he is a kid Diaz will love. A Safety all the way who can really move .

Jesus, did anyone watch that tape? He seems to have great range, athleticism, and tackling, while being huge for a safety (linebacker size). Seems like a solid SS. Rankings aren't everything.

Norton was a 3 star OG according to his ranking

Norton was a 4 star. Try again

Ed reed wasn't a 4 star so what's your point????

Also Norton was a 3 star in a few rankings. Point being IMO is a 3 star in FL is like a 4 star in Ohio or Penn or other places. I pay no attention to stars when it comes to Florida players as there just are too many ballers here.

Pinckney, Gautier, Malek Young, Linder, Herndon, and David Njoku were all three stars and contributed big time. Funny that people argue that Butch Da Gaaaaawd was the best at finding under valued prospects, but apparently Richt or his staff don't have an eye for identifying talent. If we want a 3 star, it's only because he's plan C and everyone better is gone, not that he might be a good fit for the team with the potential to excel with good coaching, right? In terms of being concerned about our recruiting this year, even with not flipping Jeudy we are still on the cusp of finishing with a Top 10 class. I give us a B+ at this point, if we get a surprise WR commitment like Smith then it becomes an A.

I didn't say he reminds me of Jamal. I'm just saying dudes in here are dogging Jamal, but they all thought he'd be a star from his highlights. And Jamal was more highly regarded coming in than this dude. But the gurus are trying to play it like they always knew Jamal stunk.

Correct.

Honestly, and I'm hoping my eyes are matching what I've witnessed before, but dude has a lot of Kam Chancellor in him. Kam's offer IIRC was like James Madison and some other D2 or lower D1 school. Kam could run and hit, though, and was lanky.

I think his measurable at this stage is comparable to Kam's as well. I low-key like this pick up b/c I see he can play the ball as well. He's not a burner, at all, but he got that football speed. When he hits, he hits. He, Romeo Finley and A. Carter are going to really make WRs think twice about going across the middle. We need that intimidation on the back end.
