We have a "Welcome to the U"

Are not all recruits a coin toss when it comes to their future and their performance ? Welcome to the U Mr. Kamalu

Uh no. Five star kid 100x more likely to be great player than 2 star. A ton of 5 stars fail but almost all 2 stars do. I would rather take my chances with the 5 star.
Your number is a bit exaggerated there but don't let facts get in the way. Care to show us proof on your 100x claim.

This kid is a total project.

Must paired with Bostwick or Bryant or DT is an epic failure.

This is a troll right?
The post isn't a troll but the op very may well be. Same crap constantly, the definitive "thanks for the analysis" kind of guy.

I dont mind someone saying the kid may be bad but you better bring some logic to the opinion. Otherwise it is crowned with a 47th chromosome.

Somebody get Kimchee to handle this monster...

We needed a DL that is physically ready to play next season. This guy will have to do.

I take this as more of an indication that Golden isn't a fan of some of his current guys on the roster.

Maybe Dorito goes 3-4? Seems like he'd be the perfect end for it.

Seems to me that we're missing the 240-250 pound monster Crimson Tide style inside linebackers necessary for a 3-4.

There are many ways to run a 3-4. I will agree if we want to be the two gap type 3-4 we need to have the bigger backer types but we also have alot of tweener guys that could flip between DE to OLB/rushend type position who will be of size. Muhammad, McCord, etc. Plus the coaches have always said they want to be a multiple front defense. I dont think we will ever go fully 3-4 because the coaches have always said they wouldnt. No reason not to take them at their word because they have alway been pretty straight up in that regard, especially compared to past staffs

we've been excited about "the biggest recruiting weekend ever" for weeks now and this week several of the visits were canceled(Liner, 6, Tim...). And after all this excitement we get a "Welcome to the U" and its some dude we've never heard of.... Maybe the kid turns out to surprise a lot of us, but right now it just doesnt generate the excitement a lot of us were anticipating.

agreed to an extent but we'd be foolish to expect any of the "bigger name" recruits to commit on the spot. many have visits next weekend and have said they are waiting till NSD

I think it's apparent that we were completely dreadful on the DL in 2012.

Guys like Shayon, Luther, Cain, King, Grimble, Rico, Jelani, Moore, Ivery, etc were either not ready or not quite good enough. However we can alleviate that issue asap then I'm all for it. I don't know anything about this kid, but I do know that we spent all season talking about the need for some JUCO DL.

guess i should be tempering my expectations. I understand these kids have waited this long to make a decision, so they'll just finish the show on Feb 6

My take:

1. Golden feels like 2013 can be a legit ACC Championship year. He needs Dlinemen and especially ones that might be able to provide quality depth behind Pierre and Porter. Porter hasn't been reliable bc of injury. We need more bodies there and can't allow teams to run through us every game. This guy helps.

2. Have no idea how the staff feels about Bryant. I think there is legit concern that Bostwick will not get in. That alone makes this an insurance policy.

With Kamala, Sunny and Fentress roaming around out there, I feel sorry for any saber-toothed tigers that might have the misfortune of meandering onto the practice field this season.
