We have a "Welcome to the U"

"Its not an accident we recruited Hooks, Toby Johnson, Ben Bradley, and other JUCO d-linemen"....and we we're able to close any of them. I trust Goldens opinion more then my own or anyone's on this sight. That being said, after looking at his film i was very unimpressed with him power, speed, first step and the horrible OLs he was playing against. I hope i'm wrong!

Seeing how we have limited space, i dont see how it doesnt seem logical that offering him equates to us not feeling good about landing another prospect at his same position.(Bostwick or Bryant)

There might be attrition happening.

Are not all recruits a coin toss when it comes to their future and their performance ? Welcome to the U Mr. Kamalu

Uh no. Five star kid 100x more likely to be great player than 2 star. A ton of 5 stars fail but almost all 2 stars do. I would rather take my chances with the 5 star.

Maybe this kid supplants Chickillo. Maybe he's 3rd string behind Jelani Hamilton.

Either way, I think we have enough D-linemens now.

Doesn't look like this kid had any decent offers. Any idea why he was so overlooked? JUCO defensive lineman certainly receive plenty of scouting.

Why was my post deleted?

I want canesman to use reasoning to defend his possible 47 chromosomes opinion.

You don't know what space is available. Just like the rest of us don't. Did you know that Paul was going to leave before he left? Do you know which commits will qualify? Which one will be told to look somewhere or leave on his own? Do you know what other current players are on their way out? Why worry about space?

Once again a big body JUCO was apparently always the plan. Bryant and Bostwick be damned.

One thing I have learned following recruiting. Every year the numbers always work out.

Don't know your definition of decent but he had offers from West Virginia and Auburn and trips to both that were cancelled when we offered him this weekend.

Who's to say that this kid doesn't serve a little time at DE........

Not like we had any beasts around the 280lb range pass rushing for us at that position last year.........

If we also take Brooks, then it's clear Kamalu is coming in as a DE.Makes sense with Williams going to Bama and let's also not forget Muhammad is not yet qualified and might need to prep.Never a guarantee an out of state kid comes back after prep most want to get back closer to home.If we end up taking 5-6 DL in this class to make room the satff will need to cut lose a few of our backup DL.

Glad we got some depth on the DL as he has 3 years left. Per TOS the only other BCS offer was West Virginia, which is concerning but gotta have faith in Al

One site reports an Auburn offer as well.

good to know, however its not very comforting then WVU who was awful on D and Auburn who was a complete greasefire are the only BCS offers. In Al we trust though

So your telling me teams that had terrible defenses offering this kid is a bad thing??? Think they might be trying to upgrade??? Last time i checked our D wasn't to stellar either...

traditionally yes it isn't a great thing since they go after recruits who the better teams aren't going after as the big boys can have who they want. it should make anyone feel better that LSU, Bama, and UGA are recruiting the same kid we are compared to North Texas, Toledo and a bottomfeeder defensive BCS tier team. in many cases schools like WVU and Auburn will use their "name" to get kids like this as they are desperate and hope that they work out with good coaching and development. this is one reason that leads me to believe he committed on the spot is all of his recruitment prior to was inferior to miami.

it is no secret that we are desperate for bodies up front so the move makes sense but appears to be a project. with that being said i have the upmost confidence that golden and co can develop players and probably see something other schools don't in this kid.
