I really liked Briscoe coming out of high school. It was disappointing hearing the reports on him last year.

Hopefully he dedicated himself to football and that weight gain to 312 is good weight and not Papa Johns slop. Good to hear McCord his pushing 240 now too.

Is this the kid who reportedly just plays PlayStation all day?
Yup, but it was more than that.

It was rumors of him not having a defensive mentality and get tried out at OL. I want a nasty **** on my DL who's violent and plays with bad intentions.

I don't like reading that he's not a defensive guy. Makes him seem soft.

Unfortunately I want those characteristics my OL as well.

UTough is about a mentality, about a certain toughness. Things this program has lacked for many years. I think we're at that juncture in time when it will start paying off with tangible results on the field.

There's a reason certain guys left last year, they simply weren't built or conditioned mentally for this.

Give me 85 guys who can

Was just about to post this. If he doesn't have the nastiness in him, he likely wont be much of a player here.

the thing with Briscoe was that he had an undisclosed injury.

Good post k9. I just want to add it's also about bonding. The weightroom builds passionate competition and comraderie, especially when the players start looking at the coaches as evil. It's part of the game and Golden understands that.

I'll just post this here since it probably doesn't merit its own thread.

Saw and chatted with Malcolm Lewis for a couple seconds this morning. He was walking fine, no limp. Asked him how his ankle was and he said that it's good, that he's already jogging. I presume the hard part will be once he starts cutting, planting, changing direction, etc. Really happy for the kid and hope he bounces back.

I'm 98% sure I saw Briscoe. Hope I'm wrong, but that dude looks soft. Not impressed with body composition at all.

/funny story, I was out sprinting and Hurns, Lewis and Waters were all together. Hurns turns to me and asks if I want to race for money. My buddy replied and said we'd race for their Jordans instead. LOL.

Should have told Hurns you would race Waters instead since he is great at replacing him

i could vouch for that as well. i know malcolm since last semester and he's doing really well. he actually tries to do too much.

briscoe does look soft but not every DTs can be Allen Bailey.

btw basically all the players I saw were duck walking to class. their legs must be sore. lol

Dont let it fool you a lot of the players wanted to stay. I talked to Brandon Washington this passed weekend and he told me they (Golden) forced them out. He only wanted 1 or 2 to stay.

Question, are the recruits not on campus given the U tough program to try and follow at home, are they given any workout program by UM, or do they do their own thing until they enroll in the University?
