*Update Eddie Nunez Emerges as Strong Candidate for Miami AD Job

Nothing has changed in the Hecht and it is clear that the old heads on the board have been victorious. As Miami has done with each hire, they have claimed to be ready to make the right type of investments to be successful. The evidence currently suggest that nothing has changed.

I highly suspect we are getting an existing P5 AD. That’s the target. Nuñez is not the front runner.

Btw, for the Cuban conspiracy folks….Nuñez hasn’t even lived in Miami since colle

To me it sounds like Nunez will be getting the job.

He put it in 14 years at LSU overseeing basketball amongst other sports. I felt the same way when the name emerged, but after reading his resume and bio it is clear he is a qualified candidate.

Is anyone even familiar with Will Wade and the **** he's accused of? They got one of the hottest prep recruits since LeBron to commit to LSU, I mean, come on. He was in th belly of the beast, he's worked with cobras. 14 years at LSU is not working in the Maine ticket office, it's not hiring a former player with 0 experience in administration, it may not be Ross Bjork but it's a qualified professional and leaps and bounds from the old Miami way.

Young, with fire in the belly and some dirt under the finger nails. It's a start.
when the Ole Miss thing went down it was the assistant AD who was handling the payouts. maybe Nuñez has some off the books experience.

The key is that Nunez will be paired with Zo as Director of Football Operations. Both parties have to be OK with that pairing.

If Nunez has now interviewed for a second time as reported, seems like somebody should know the answer to this already no?

Nunez led the hiring of Will Wade at LSU FYI. I suspect that basketball is going to be his main focus if Zo is over football

It was pretty widely known but basically was completely exposed when Lebatard tried to engage him on Latin culture during an interview and it went over like a brick. Manny's mom is a gringa from Ohio. This is all pretty irrelevant but I always just found it at least a little surprising that a prominent Miami politician of Cuban lineage would have a kid that isn't at least comfortable conversing in Spanish.

Valid point. However, when you have $30million to $50 million donations linked to Zo/Mario then new AD won’t have much of a say here. I expect Nuñez is looking more of the foundation of the entire AD.
And isn’t landing Mario predicated on Zo? I would suspect no Zo means no Mario
