*Update Eddie Nunez Emerges as Strong Candidate for Miami AD Job

So another unknown and hope for the best. In reality he's another puppet who would never be considered to lead a major AD anywhere else.

Don't say you are committed to winning and pull this bull****.
They are bringing in an NFL executive to oversee Football Operations. If it was just Nunez I would definitely agree with you. But they are literally saying Miami Football is a business on it’s own. Zo you go run it. He’s also a basketball guy so coach L could be gone next year. I love Miami baseball but the rules hurt private schools a lot. No idea how Vandy does it…

Not an insider .. BUT just read a comment by a guy who does have some BOT contact .. he believes that Nunez is the guy in some combination with Alonzo. Alonzo having primary responsibility for football operations and Nunez for the financials and all other sports. No idea of what "titles" would be handed out. AD to Nunez and Assistant AD to Alonzo? Realize it is NOT a new scenario .. but was just "reinforced" a few minutes ago. TIFWIW.

If they fire him tomorrow or Thursday they aren't keeping him. I *hope* (If it's Nunez and Highsmith) that they are announced and immediately fire Diaz and perform a search. If we don't get Mario, we get Kiffin. I don't want it to come down to Mario or Manny.
I hope like **** it's not a Mario or nothing situation, but our administration would absolutely make this kind of blunder.

He is not the name that people on the board want. That is his only downfall. The Al Bundy’s of the world don’t agree
People don't want him because he effing sucks. Look at his record as athletic director. Football stinks, basketball stinks. He shouldn't even be a realistic candidate let alone being granted second interviews. The only thing that makes sense as to why he is being considered is because he is a Miami Cubano and that is NOT the way things should be done. It's pathetic. Get Nunez the fu*k outta my face.

Alvarez, Hernandez, Nunez... did I miss any?

Seems to be 1 qualification for the job
Yep, apparently you have to be Cuban, with strong Miami ties, and be a “culture fit” whatever the fuqq that even means, in order to be an AD or HC here. Fuqqin clown show.

Our highest levels of success have been when we’ve hired guys from outside of the program, with no Miami ties. Jankovich, Jimmy, Erickson, Schnelly…no Miami ties, came here with fresh eyes and dominated.

Fuqqin clowns put significance on these dumbass Miami Bro ties.

You guys are weird. If at the end of the day, Mario Cristobal is the head coach of the football program, who cares about the AD? I mean seriously. Can anyone of you name another AD outside of like Gene Smith (OSU).

Sounds like no one has any idea about this guy's skills and approach as an AD. I'm not saying he's gonna be a good hire, but there just seems to be a lot of superficial critiques.

I will judge him on the following three issues early on:
(1) Will he recommend firing Manny?
(2) Will he make a good hire? Does he have the intelligence, charisma, skill, vision, and discipline to sell a big fish on the exciting future of our program?
(3) Will he act as an effective advocate for the football department? Will he secure resources from the admin? Will he fundraise? Will he grow our brand? etc.

No criticisms offer any insight into whether he will or will not execute on any of the above three.
Stop making sense! This board is not about being reasonable and making sense

Well Nunez at least has experience in turning around a football program. It's just not good experience...
The football program is what precipitated this search and is the most obvious problem, so let's find someone that's good at everything except football.

Hard to make any kind of assumption on his ability as an AD from New Mexico.

No way they can conclude he's the best candidate for the job either based on that.
The contrast is key. He might be a good hire. Keyword: might...... We shouldn't be going on possibilities. This hire is too important. Get someone proven.

Still unsure on how scouting individual players qualifies you to oversee an entire college football progrum.

What's the point of "Zo"? If you hire an AD capable of actually doing his job and fulfilling all of his duties, there's no reason to have some other dude in charge of the football progrum.

New Mexico went through some Title IX issues and were undergoing an audit when he was hired related to that - he inherited the mess and had nothing to do with it. Men's sports has been dealing with budget cuts and constraints related to that investigation to "level" the women's sports. Their athletic dept was in bad shape to begin with getting bailed out by the state for fired coaching buyouts.

Hard to make any kind of assumption on his ability as an AD from New Mexico.

No way they can conclude he's the best candidate for the job either based on that. He's gonna have to prove his worth if it's him
Please stop making good comments that make sense and are reasonable.

So even more dysfunction having a former player meddling with the HC and AD.

And what HC wants to deal with Zo or Gino, and the rest of the former players, chirping in their ear about how to run the program, who to recruit, etc?
