*Update Eddie Nunez Emerges as Strong Candidate for Miami AD Job

Very true. Given the whole White family support behind the scenes, I'd have been a lot more happy with him.
I have to presume that he pulled out because Miami wasnt willing to give him the full AD job.

What makes it good?

Has he personally hired any successful coaches? Improved the two big revenue sports in his time there? Headed up an athletic department for a power 5 school?

No.
No.
No.

But at least he knows Isla Canarias has the best croquetas in town.
It’s New Mexico… about everyone gets those results

Genuine shivers going down my spine at the thought of who this bozo and our bozo BOT hire once Mario passes on us.

#FoldTheProgram

I can feel this “darkness” breathing down my neck

What you just described is the likeliest of scenarios

And if Cristobal doesn't take the job, we're keeping Diaz. Every other coach isn't Hispanic enough.
If they fire him tomorrow or Thursday they aren't keeping him. I *hope* (If it's Nunez and Highsmith) that they are announced and immediately fire Diaz and perform a search. If we don't get Mario, we get Kiffin. I don't want it to come down to Mario or Manny.

Is being Cuban-American from Miami a major criterion? UNM did win a Cross Country Nat'l Championship under his watch. The Mountain West is really many notches below the ACC.

This is probably the worst time to hire an AD and expect to turn around and fire then hire a new coach. I’m surprised the FAU AD hasn’t gotten more run. Is there not a successful G5 AD who is ready to make the jump? I get search firms can be a sham and strictly a money maker but this has given no good names.

I don't want to be unduly pessimistic, but I think Nunez would be a horrible hire and indicative that Frenks supposed "commitment to UM sports" was complete bullsh!t. You can make a Nunez type hire to replace an AD who had UM sports hitting on all cylinders because he'd only be asked to keep things running. UM needs a rebuild in almost all revenue sports. New Mexico Tech community College AD is not the guy for that rebuild.

Sounds like no one has any idea about this guy's skills and approach as an AD. I'm not saying he's gonna be a good hire, but there just seems to be a lot of superficial critiques.

I will judge him on the following three issues early on:
(1) Will he recommend firing Manny?
(2) Will he make a good hire? Does he have the intelligence, charisma, skill, vision, and discipline to sell a big fish on the exciting future of our program?
(3) Will he act as an effective advocate for the football department? Will he secure resources from the admin? Will he fundraise? Will he grow our brand? etc.

No criticisms offer any insight into whether he will or will not execute on any of the above three.
How about track record?

Problem is that Miami is not one HC away from anything substantial. We're a culture shift away. Hiring this ******* clown is more of the same and to expect Kiffin (doubt the BOT would even go for him) or any other HC to change things is setting yourself up for failure.
