Up to #11 in AP, up to #10 in the Coaches poll

Been seeing people *****ing all over social media about how Miami should be higher than Ohio State and Georgia. Here’s the thing…Ohio state lost by 1 on the road to number 2 Oregon and Georgia lost by 1 to then number 1 Alabama. While Miami had to rely on last minute touchdowns against unranked teams.

Why sit and worry about rankings now? Win the ******* conference and you have a top 4 seed and a bye.

But you're doing exactly what the voters do.

A "good loss" is somehow better than a "bad win". And that's just wrong.

Winning is everything.

Now, if Miami had one loss, and you want to compare various one-loss teams, knock yourself out.

But Georgia's LOSS to "then number 1 Alabama" is looking ****tier by the week.

Ok then flip flop Georgia and Miami. Who really cares about rankings at this point? Like I said, you win your conference you get a top 4 seed.

Pedo State is too high as well.

Texas and Oregon deserved to be ranked higher, based on accomplishments. That's it.

The rankings continue to "matter" in the court of public perception. Part of the whole SEC/Big 10 mock-outrage over our two "close wins" is because they have invented a conspiracy theory that this is the only way the ACC can get a team in the CFP (since disproven by the automatic conference champion bids), and now the new conspiracy theory is that the ACC is trying to get TWO teams into the CFP.

And why should the SEC/Big 10 care if another conference got TWO WHOLE BIDS? Oh yeah, that's right, because it would "steal" a bid from one of their 2-loss or 3-loss teams.

that's what I've been saying. Not sure why there's all this *****ing cause all we need to do is win what most perceive including us,to be a weak conference.

JUST WIN THE **** CONFERENCE!!!!

Because what if the conference isn’t that ******* weak. What if Pitt is actually a good football team. What if SMU is actually a good football team. What if Cal who beat an SEC team on the road is actually a pretty good football team.

Louisville played the number 12 team in the country on the road and had the ball in plus territory with 2 minutes to go in a one score game. They lose that game by 7, lose to a 5-1 SMU team by 7 and are out of the polls. Ole Miss loses to a 3-3 Kentucky team at home and a 5-1 LSU and is still in the top 20 despite having zero good wins. It’s idiotic. We shouldn’t have to run the ******* table to feel like we’ll make the playoffs when other teams aren’t held to that. Oklahoma was ranked top 20 before getting throttled 34-3, despite having no good wins and getting taken to the wire by an awful Houston team. Vanderbilt is getting talked about like they’re a tremendous football team just to avoid admitting that Bama got their *** kicked by a mediocre team.

I don’t know why so many are dug in on this “polls don’t matter” bull**** when your reasoning is that as long as we win EVERY game we can overcome them. You’re admitting right there that they matter.

Yes.

There are two issues.

1. CFP bid - I fully agree, if we win the conference, this is taken care of.
2. Establish respect vis-a-vis the SEC/Big 10 bullies that are trying to take 2/3 of the 12 CFP slots, and create a situation where the Big 10 (or SEC) decides that they "have to have" Miami in their expansion plans.

Not sure why people can't grasp the importance of the second point.

agreed on PSU. I think it's fair to have UGA ahead of us bc their best win is better than our best win. they haven't looked strong though against UK or MSU though.

OSU UO and Texas deserve to be ahead of us imo. OSU has a win against a ranked team. UO just beat OSU. Texas rocked Michigan and rocked OU.

UF wil finish the year with losses until FSU.

I understand the arguments on Georgia and Taint.

It can be challenging to try to compare victories, particularly at the midway point of the year.

This is why I put more weight on losses. There are just...fewer of them, and so when you take a look at "what went wrong" it can be very instructive.

I get that UGa and Taint lost to "good teams". But UGa got rocked in the first half, and to a team that has looked disastrous for the last 5 halves SINCE scoring at will in the first half of the UGa game. So maybe the UGa loss to Alabama isn't as "good" as it once seemed.

As for Taint, I get it. They were in the game the whole way and just didn't win it in the end. Tough break.

I said this earlier but feels like every year our fans talk about how trashy the ACC is and our schedule is always so weak but by the time the end of the year rolls around it actually isn’t at all

I dunno. Long way to go

Yeah. And then we go 6-2 in bowl games or some **** like that.

It goes back to my Human Centipede metaphor. If you start the year with 8 or 10 SEC teams in the Top 25, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I just hate how the narrative flips as soon as the game plays out. All week it was “Cal’s secondary is elite, they’ll really make things tough for Ward” then they do that for 3 quarters, we catch fire at the end, and now Cal ******* sucks, apparently.

They had Auburn’s offense in **** earlier this year. By far their worst offensive output, worse than their game against UGA, worse than Oklahoma, worse than Arkansas. Doesn’t matter.

They completely shut a Pitt offense down that came in as a top 10 team in total yards and top 20 in yards per play. Doesn’t matter.

Yeah the transitive property never applies in college but yet every week it’s the non stop connections people want to make

I had the Louisville game sort of earmarked to start the season. Trying not to get caught up week to week and just check in after what I thought would be our toughest 3 game stretch of the season (VT, Cal, Ville)

I’m very bullish on this team because I wouldn’t trade our QB for anyone but so far so good, especially when you watch other teams around the country each week. It’s a madhouse this year even for college football

We have NEVER won this league. In 20 years. That makes me sick to my stomach. But we can’t go back in time, so guess what? Just win the ******* league this year. That’s all I really care about. Win the league, get a Top 4 seed/first round bye, and let’s see what happens. I literally could not care less about an AP ranking. There’s nothing more insignificant to me. We have 6 more league games. Find a way to win enough to get to Charlotte, and win that one. It’s beyond time.

I still don’t think most people have come to terms with how much harder it’s going to be to be truly dominant in the NIL era. People are all over this thread talking about “We don’t look like a top 10 team” but there are not 10 teams that look better than us, and the lack of truly elite depth is catching up to the Alabama’s and Georgia’s of the world and raising the floor of the conferences.

Louisville worries me, but if we can’t come off a bye week and fix the explosive play issues on defense we have bigger problems. I think we’re a lot less likely to get paper cut to death than in years past, which is a less correctable issue imo.
