Uniforms

I still can't believe someone thought it was a good idea to incorporate the clam into the design.

The Ibis logo has long been an important part of the university's heritage. The existing Miami ibis logo captures the essence of the bird, the storm and the speed of Miami Football.
***. Nike tried to put that on the helmet in 2000, but the school said no. Instead it was plastered onto the pants and on the coaches gear for polos and jackets. It was an alternate logo for the hats on the baseball team for a while, and was our official logo on the ncaa video games until about 2005. It was de-emphasized by the school because everyone hated it. A small clam on the pants was all that remained. Now it's everywhere. The only thing being #renewed by the school is that awful ****ing clam.

You're a tool and have no idea what you're talking about. The klam has been a disaster since 2000. We get it, you have no mind of your own and support anything and everything the school does.

Great overreaction. Yep. Everyone that likes elements of the uniforms is a slave to the school.

The response was from the website explaining the Ibis logo --- one group's interpretation of why they used it. Now http://hurricanesports.com/fls/28700/renewedidentity/

No, anyone that supports the Klam is a slave to the school, as you put it. What a joke. Now, give me the old Sebastian logo, like my avatar and that is fire!

Stop being delusional. At what point do you think a bird smoking a pipe is gonna make its way on to any Miami uniform in your lifetime?

There are logos without the pipe genius. Look at hurricanesports.com at all the vintage gear. Not exactly delusional when the school sells it.

What if Sebastion were smoking an e-pipe? Would that bridge the gap and make it more politically correct? Seriously, I grew up with Sebastion and the pipe, but that ain't happening in this PC day and age. I would love to see it but it's not happening.

I still say having the hurricane warning flags in silhouette would've looked cool.

The thing that bothers me about the Klam is that the fans already revolted against it ten years ago. Why is it back? It's like Coke bringing back new Coke

This makes more sense to me than expecting the Ibis smoking a pipe.

Good god lets hope that horrible Orange helmet doesn't make it on the field. Could go down as one of the worst color scheme to logo ratio created. Nike should have known better. Helmets should only be white or if you are going to use another color black should have been used. In order to preserve the "U" on the helmet White and Black are the only contrasting colors that keep the logo's pms colors active. The smoke uni's are legit and would be insane with a black or another type of processed color with a flake or pearl.

That orange **** on their heads will go down as the ugliest **** they have ever rolled out.

Uniforms are on point. Although the extended sleeves help enhance our perception. Wonder how many guys will rock the same look. Smoke, Green, White, Orange is my order of give a ****ness.

I liked the uniforms but why did they have to **** it up with alternate helmets?

I'm hoping they come to their senses and wear all the combinations with the traditional helmet.

Excellent. I am also weary of these smoke uniforms after the debacle against VT last year.

Is that avatar a logo without a pipe? That is what you referenced. And the logo isn't fire. It looks like a bird was forced to put on a 1950's era sweatshirt by his crazy 90 year old oxygen tank having owner.

No chance. The players would revolt. You're gonna see them. Your only hope is that Golden doesn't allow the team captains to decide the uniforms like last year. Or he vetoes the helmets every time the players want to wear them. Considering he approved them to begin with they are gonna get brought out.

Smh. And people wonder why our fan base sucks.

You've used that line in this very thread or another about uniforms and it was just as ineffective and lazy that time as well.

We're arguing about uniforms? Really? At the end of the day they are better and cooler than what we had. The technology of the material is also better! That's what matters.

Not everyone is going to like everything. Move on; save your time and passion for the upcoming season. We're going to be better than you pessimistic clowns out there think we will be.

Anyone who complains about this should **** themselves in the face. The kids and recruits are going bonkers.

Because recruits hate traditional uniforms, which is why you see Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, USC, Ohio State and LSU drastically changing their uniforms...wait....what? Recruits care about winning, not the uniforms. Sure, recruits like it, but they're not going to chose Miami over Alabama or Auburn because of these uniforms.

All those teams have pro combat unis, n itsa bout how they recruit nott here unis.

Which they wear once a year, if that. As for your second part, that's exactly my point. They don't need ugly *** uniforms to impress recruits. They impress recruits because they win.

U thinkin bout yaself UUUUUU think they r ugly, u think these kids listen to your music? Its not about us its about moving foward and keeping UM up to date especially if we arent winning

What u said says it all,u remember the loss. this is why we hate our old uniforms losing. If we win in these they will become badass also because u get that sense of winning.

Stop it with your facts and logic.

Such a tired argument and asinine as well. Miami has always been different. We aren't a traditional power. In fact we're supposed to hate the blue bloods. Not try to be like them. It really is amazing all these Miami fans who were apart of the revolution that was this program now want to be seated at the same table with people we're supposed to despise.

Why don't you commission someone to make our very own version of "Touchdown Jesus" on campus while you're at it?

Miami isn't supposed to look traditional. Wake up. And stop using Ohio State(you really should be flogged for comparing us to them). Go look at what they've worn the last 3-4 years. They change it up all the time. I believe they might have a permanent non-traditional "rivalry" jersey they wear at home. They even brought out a road version of it against Michigan. They wore the home one against Clemson in bowl game as well.

Huh? That picture you posted is a MINOR tweak of the same uniform Ohio State has worn for 50 years. As to the other part, you're probably one of those fans that hates marching bands and loves horrible rap music pipped into the stadium. This is college football, not the NFL. College football is all about tradition.

Any Ohio State fan would say those are major tweaks. Black facemasks. Green Buckeyes stickers. Big gray numbers. Giant wide stripe on the helmet.

Miami Hurricanes football isn't about tradition. Mothafluckers forgot all about what we were about. The players and the fans thought all that stuff was dumb. You were in the middle of it and didn't even understand it. Our mascot walked around with fatigues and a toy automatic gun and you're talking to me about tradition. Absolutely dumbfounding.

You're completely missing the point. I'm talking about ******* uniforms. You're talking about something completely different. Apples to oranges. The players don't need to be wearing crap to be different. The new uniforms look ridiculous in my opinion, and no recruit is going to pick Miami over Alabama, Auburn, USC, etc because of some space age design. The fact that you keep bringing up the 80s as your "point" and thinking that you've "won" the argument is absurd. You've "proved" nothing. Those teams that revolutionized college football in the 80s wore boring *** traditional uniforms doing it.

Again, you're delusional (and I'm not saying that in a confrontational manner) if you think a recruit is going to pick us over Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Michigan, etc. because of the uniform. Sure they're going to like. Sure, they're going to say it looks "tight" and "sick" and whatever else, but get a grip. A recruit, in the end, is going to pick a school because of the on field performance, the location of the school, the coach, what their parents want, what their high school coaches/handlers are telling them, where they can play immediately, what school is going to get them to the NFL, facilities, etc. Uniform is probably 97th on the list, right up there with if the cafeteria has colored or chocolate sprinkles for the ice cream.
