UF vs Miami series thread

Yep, survived. That one pitch looked like it caught the jersey but we will take it lol.

Not sure if this is serious, but coaches are let go all the time. There's a way to escort Jim Morris out of the building with dignity. Then conduct a national search and hire a coach who has won and who is passionate about getting to Omaha and winning the whole thing.

FYI - this was also my solution in 2011, but we went with the "HE HAS WON TWO WORLD SERIES" plan, and look where we are five years later.

EDITED TO ADD: Gino DiMare is the lazy answer. We can't pull a Randy Shannon and reward a guy just for putting in time. DiMare is part of the reason why our recruiting list comes straight from south Florida travel ball rosters.

Got it. Fire Morris.

I tried to fire him several times with mid game rants. He just doesn't listen to me. He still shows up at the park in uniform. Does anyone know someone in accounting to fix the glitch?

Morris is the Coach. DiMare is HC in waiting.

Other than ranting and raving on here every game, what is your plan to solve this at the fan level. Everyone is ready to follow a strong plan to correct Miami baseball.

But first things first......It is my understanding that NCAA College Baseball 2016 can end today and we are the only ones that can stop it. The Gators are one win away from winning the whole **** thing and the season is over. No more games. No Omaha. For anyone. The NCAA, the City of Omaha, TD Ameritrade, everyone is relying on the Canes to save the season. What can we do?

What a lame, strawman post. There is nothing we can do at the fan level. But as an alum and a donor, I can certainly expect my athletic administration to have the best interests of the program at heart. And I can certainly call them out when they make lazy decisions.

But you're right. We should all go have a milkshake and cheer for our boys and pat everyone on the back after another loss. Just as long as everyone has a good time.

I had to step away to check on the State of Emergency in Nebraska. #saveomaha

Same classic argument.... Nowhere did I say we should be happy. But unlike some of you I'll be damned if I am going to let the coaching decision ruin every baseball game the team plays. Instead I'll donate accordingly, catch as many games as I can, rooting for the Canes and critiquing the coaching, play and administration accordingly... hoping to discuss it reasonably with other baseball fans.

Still waiting for your viable alternative for change because obviously the plan you hatched in 2011 hasn't worked yet.

In the meantime, I believe the Mayor of Omaha is making substantial progress in convincing the powers that be to return to the traditional format of letting the full season be played before crowning a champion.

Oh, that's cute. You superfans are the best. Do me a favor.....bring this post back up when the folks in Omaha actually get around to crowning a champion while we are nowhere near the conversation.

I love how you believe that there is not and has not been a viable alternative for change. Like we were destined to sit back and let Jim Morris coach as long as he wants. Of course, it doesn't bother you as long as you get a Jayro and a picture with the Maniac and the boys try real hard. That's what real fans do. The rest of us just mope around expecting our teams to compete for championships.

You keep arguing with yourself and ranting. You may need help. I suggest you enjoy an evening of baseball.

We saved the World tonight.

You people that keep complaining about Morris crack me up. 9 out of ten people talking crap bout Morris love the richt hire... clearly whomever has a problem with Morris or gino clearly hasn't met them. To say to a man who lives baseball that the game has passed him by is absurd. Hate to say it but sometimes you're out recruited or flat out out played. It happens. Especially in the higher levels of college baseball recruiting. Honestly it's a crap shoot. Sometimes you get lucky & they don't go pro but the majority of the time the players who really make a difference they simply go pro & you're left with scraps.

Mediavilla has surpassed my expectations thus far. When he gets stretched out to where he can give us seven innings most nights he'll be the answer to the Friday night guy we need.

Garcia gives us a great start tomorrow and who knows...maybe we end that streak for Florida.

It's GREAT to be...

After tonight we are 6-22 in our last 28 against UF. That's not bad luck. It's two programs going in opposite directions. Morris is college baseball's answer to Bobby Bowden. Bobby lived football too and the game clearly passed him by several years before he was fired.

Anyway...win tomorrow and shut me up!

My BOY! I agree! Win tomorrow and make me eat my words.

Morris is the coach through 2018, unless he dies or is incapacitated.

And then we have Paul's son for the next 20 years after that, because unless he's found with a dead girl or live boy, nobody at UM would have the stones to ever fire Gino. It's like trusting Michael J Fox to hold your baby.

Here's the issue with college baseball, limited 'ships. To a private school like UM it's a death wish. There are hundreds of top level kids that don't get a ride at all. Some if they do get a quarter 'ship. Lots of money for a kid's parents.

Exactly, nothing would be better than beating FLA in a series.

That's the difference, those of us who have followed Canes baseball for decades know the difference in what we have been in recent years and what we can be..

Not to mention, the big picture is a little more in focus than showing after a single win and throwing out classic lines like "people had me convinced the season was over" and the SEE! Jim Morris hasn't lost a step, we just won a baseball game!

Bottom line for me...Jim is the man. I never question his love for the game, his experience or how much green and orange blood he has spilled over the years.

The flip side of that coin is that at some point, most all coaches lose a step...while all the above remains in tact. It happens to the best of them and it isn't assault on them to recognize it...it is honoring them and moving on.

Now, is it Jim's time? Was it time 5 years ago? Did we win more pre-ACC because the competition was different with less parity, or have we lost serious fundamentals like football where we SHOULD be dominating the conference most years?

Hard to say. I guess I would just wonder how our squad would do with somebody like U***s skipper.

Do we have the pitching depth to win this series?

We are going to have to get the bats going if we want to beat UF today. I'm comfortable with our bullpen, but when it comes to Garcia going up against UF, I'll be happy if he can just hang in there for 4-5 innings, and give the offense (which has sputtered a bit so far this year) a chance to win the game.

We saved the World tonight.

That is so embarrassingly predictable. We manage to win a single game in February, and the cheerleaders act like everything is roses.

In the past seven years, we have one single CWS game victory. But anyone who hates where our program is right now is an irrational non-fan who likes to rant.

You and mediocrity deserve each other.
