Boy.. some message will be sent if we lose out on Campbell and Surtain, while stuck with Bethel of all people.

We could of really sent a message going after Wilson and Samuels earlier. You know, guys who were actually considered the best cover corner in south Florida.

You're constant negativity is infuriating

I'm just saying....

We keep talking about a message being sent but what kind of message are we really sending when we're recruiting rotational players.. How do you recruit Blades but not Samuels? How do you recruit mutha ******* Bethel but not Wilson? It not that we're recruiting them and losing like in the Hobe, Thornton situation.. we not even offering or battling an eye to them when they're considered the best players at their position down here.

We're passing up on elite CB for their backups at the SAME position.

Lol AS is a better player but AB is a better prospect & can play multiple postitions (which adds value) couple that with the fact that it’s 3 guys committed that has equal talent & 3 guys uncommitted that is just as good but bigger stronger faster. AS is not a can’t miss prospect and this is an anomaly year for talent DBs.

At WR we have the best guy already signed. I would love to have Thort. But he emerged after we had 3 guys committed & he committed to the gator after we offered him (if you was trying to figure out how much he really wanted to be here) but to be honest i am fine with saving that spot for 2019.

Wilson has problems with our current commits. If he was good enough to overcome ****ing off our current players then the staff would have done it.

Samuel y'all didn't care about until like one week ago so I'm not sure why the staff is getting crapped on for missing him

If we get tyson then Samuel would be our 3rd best corner alone this cycle and 4th or 5th overall corner taken, it's best to play numbers

IMO most of these kids no where they are going. It's not much a staff can do to sway them one way or another... maybe for that recruit on the fence.. but for the most part these kids ate going where they want.. For the schools that were recruiting Shaq... they didn't fail... Shaq went where he wanted to go

Most idiots on this board think recruiting is like a NCAA video game.

Yeah because every situation is just like Shaq’s.

There’s a reason a dude like Dameyune Craig gets paid $650k per year and doesn’t even have a position to coach.

Recruiting matters. A lot.

He said “most of these kids” and then followed up with an example of his son. Then followed that up with acknowledging recruiting could matter a lot for kids on the fence. But for every kid on the fence there are 15 that know where they wanna go. But all y’all will disagree because it doesnt fit your narrative. I think poppa Shaq knows more about “most kids” then you and almost every poster on this board does.

Someone told me it was sarcasm.

So...if we get Campbell + what we have already signed already what's the message we sent?
How would you grade that DB class?

A-/A. w/ Surtain is a A+. W/o both it's a B.

- Hall is a stud PERIOD.
- I really like Frierson's talent but I haven't seen his senior tape. IDK if he is coming off an injury.
-I don't buy Ivey TBH. He is tall and lengthy, which is good, but his tape/talent is just solid/average. Nothing jumps out or screams "elite DB" about him.
- Blades was a rotational player at St-A. Say what you want but that's the same reason people dog Sitkowski for. Remove the genes and being a Canes legacy and people would not be to sure about him. Right now I'm banking on the fact that out of all the **** Canes legacy players that have suited for us the Blades family has always been the best one through the years. They're like the Fuller family for VT.

Ivey and Blades got some proving to do. Frierson has the talent but I haven't seen his senior tape. I remember hearing he was hurt but idk if that was this year or last year. Hall makes me wish Redwine would declare for the draft.

Not trying to be negativity I just voice my concerns.

Just getting your opinion.
Campbell is key. Can't fail on that one. Surtain is a bonus.
Without Campbell it's a good DB class. With Campbell it's a great DB class.

Aka Franchise. His posts wreak of a dude that has never participated in a sanctioned athletic event beyond his college intramurals.

I agree about Samuel. If you are going to go at him late you should have been on him a lot earlier.
Specially since Jobe was showing every sign that he was a flip candidate. I think they completely miss read that situation.
That criticism is fair. The Wilson thing...I'm not as sure. If what Pete said is true that one of our commitments has issues with Wilson then it's not that simple. We don't know witch commitment but let's say it's someone you like more than Wilson... would you risk it?
Bethel to me is not really part of the equation. He is possibly an add in if there's room just be be cause of his physical potential.
Not a main target. JMO

If we miss out on the top 3 players in the state, all dbs as well as the best cover guy in the state this, with someone on staff that coached 2 of the 4 this was a flop of a dB class. The 18 dB class was one of the best we’ve seen so we still were able to bring in some talent. But we need at least Campbell for this to have been an acceptable haul imo.

Campbell is a silent, but I do agree that letting talent leave and go to FSU, UF or BAMA is becoming common. BTW, Nik Bonitto will also be a stud that got away. I've heard that Trevon Grimes wanted to be here after family issues, but was turned away. Taking Grimes would have been a good look. I know the staff is kind of arrogant, but sometimes it can make you look bad with a school. I just don't want to see the STA bridge burnt. It's like how Shannon and Al did with some schools. We've had a bad rap with some coaches at a few Home High Schools for awhile. It's not perfect, but it's better than it was.

I think we won't know what this class will turn out like.. I'm willing to watch Rumph coach em up.

Diavaad Wilson. Don´t get the love. Zero quickness or explosion in his game.

Chosen has a weak argument.. He is saying that AS is going to be better than AB and that because one started over the other in high school. This means AB will not become the better player. It shows how little he knows about football. Why do you think some guys dominate in college, but some become better pros. Thornton was begging to get back. Your agenda is full of holes. Another non football playing dude who has not provided facts to back up his statement.

If (it's merely rumor AFAIK) we turned down Grimes, it's not a good look for Richt. Kid had very legitimate family reasons for wanting to transfer close to home.

Why is it a bad look? He chose to go to OSU, didn't even give us a look. We got the receivers we wanted this class, we have 19 class kids coming at wr as well already. Why are we obligated to take Grimes? He could have easily gone to FAU and be even closer to his family/mom. I do wish his family the best and his mother a speedy recovery, but to say it's a bad look bc we didn't take the kid is ridiculous, man.

Stop trying to ascribe science to any of these opinions with that “for every 15 guys” stuff.

Shaq is a stud and so is his dad. But he doesn’t know the effects that recruiting has on anyone other than his son. And I’m sure a large part of the reason Shaq knew where he was going is because he grew up with a real man running the house who is a giant Canes fan.

Recruiting is huge. And guys get paid tons of money who are good at it. You think Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory just showed up on our doorstep on December 20th? Lulz

STA kids were given a message by RICHT that there is a new sherrif in town. You commit early and if not your spot will be taken by a better kid. If you commit elsewhere do not think you can transfer back. Golden, Shannon and the old bald guy have been put to rest.
