TVD Staying at UM Mega-Thread (F off Nick and the local Miami media dreck)

NCAA needs to bring back the sit out a year after transferring rule. One of their biggest mistakes was removing that and it was pretty much for no reason.

That would end 90% of this ridiculousness and you could then give unlimited transfers, full access to team activities, full NIL opportunity etc, just cant play in games until the following year.

It’s unfortunate but

You mean by doing his job?

You think TVD was happy as a clam in Miami and had no intentions of ever going anywhere else and Drew Rosenhaus took it upon himself to start calling other schools on his behalf? What the **** world do you guys live in?
Of course he’s doing his job. But Rosenhaushas made a pretty penny off of being the “UM agent” while routinely ******* the program. You’re arguing some **** that I didn’t even mention

Brother, for context, TVD is fine and all, but hes another vastly overrated player by our fanbase. He's closer to the guy you saw last year than most think. I don't even disagree with anything you're saying...but the fact that we just constantly kowtow to some mid kids while winning 8 games in a good year, 7 in an average year, 5 in a bad year which just happened and then it leaks that these guys are holding us over a barrel is the definition of not having your house in order. Even if this is going on...it shouldn't be floated out there by footballville as some bit of news or rumor. We're always on the opposite end of a news story.
Yeah in that instance it's true. Like @Cribby said we got way too many people loosely around the program clout chasing. But this should show you how loosely he's involved with the program is he's just me tioning now when this has been going on since December. Now y'all get to see why Mario don't want nothing done unless it's on his terms. Someone just outed themselves.

As a player, you want to be somewhere to showcase your abilities.

Can he do that here? With all of the question marks we have? Can the OL keep him off his back?

Going to Bama isnt not believing in yourself. It's saying I'm a badass that can play with the best. I belong. Whatever their QB situation is (I don't know who they have) surely isn't worse than our room. He'd have to beat them out. No disrespect to our guys, but one can't throw and the other would still be a month and a half from graduating if he didn't come early.

Staying here is the easy road in comparison. They have expectations there we aren't even close to approaching. It's audition time for the next level and he's nearly out of time. That school is a pressure cooker and you'll be jumped over if you don't deliver.

You're a good poster, but your idea that going to Alabama signifies he doesn't believe in himself is crazy.
I mean yea u make a good point. I just put myself in his shoes I would leave. If I am that age and not a super cane fan I would probably go. Could be your reason to but if I'm being honest with myself I would think I can't carry the team.

Program already threatened their credentials for making **** up. If they whiff here probably the final straw.

They’ve warned kids about talking to them and doing interviews with them too.
Who’s your source for this?

I skipped roughly 40ish pages since last night, any of this **** actually substantiated??

So it’s fine that a coach can jump ship whenever they want for a better opportunity, but players should be penalized for doing the same?

It was in response to “so we should quit football” when I said Alabama is better than us, when asked why TVD would want to go to Alabama.

Sure, I don’t want to lose QB1. TVD has not shown me he’s the leader I would like him to be. (Not a new opinion). But I also don’t blame him for looking.

It’s not losing QB1 that hurts, what hurts is we have no QB1b, QB2 or really QB3 and that’s why this is worse than it should otherwise be, and that’s not on TVD.
Who is it on than? Would you say that's on Mario that we don't have that locked up with depth? Cause I wouldn't agree with that. Kids have all the power now. When this first came out it was addressed internally. At that point in response we lost Jake. We had very limited options. Yes we could've hit the portal. HOWEVER (& A BIG ONE AT THAT)the perception nationally is that tvd is staying #1 & a lot better than he is at this moment #2. With that being the narrative what qb1 are we going to be able to get to come in who's ready to play right now but who also has the mindset that he's gonna be a back up this year. They hit the portal for 2 reasons.#1 playing time. #2 money. Rock & a hard place.

The problem is "these kids are making so much money for the university" argument that many bring up.

Which I have always argued is incorrect. Very rarely does 1 player make a university millions upon millions. Its the name on the front of the jersey that makes the money. Names changes constantly. Also 99.9% of these kids are not going to get paid to play football after college but if you play your cards right you can still be set for life with a job, an alumni network, etc.. Especially outside of the power5. Stay in school and get your free degree.

I know some are basically told to leave but those who are leaving with their hand out are in for a rude awakening in many cases when they are stuck in the portal or end up transferring down.

Probably disinformation to make some portal targets question coming here.
Definitely looks like it's not disinformation but someone definitely saw value from a lot of angles letting it leak including this one. Slows down the portal efforts, 0% chance you get a good WR in this spring window now, probably pushes some others to start looking, another rough season and Mario probably never gets this off the ground and probably ends the debate on his QB issue - it'll be hard to defend at that point.

Wasn't hard to identify the channel to go through to leak it. Footballville/Caneville would share anything for some clout.
